I had an idea what if Subaru was the reincarnation of rimuru's clone (the clone is from just before rimuru became a demon Lord) he will still get return by death as it was technically a "gift" for being summoned to re zero (if you do this something to keep in mind if rimuru had return by death he could kill enough people to become a demon Lord then kill himself and theoretically he would still be a demon Lord after return by death activated)
