If you've been rejected from Oxford or Cambridge, I'm very sorry because I understand that it can be a difficult situation to deal with.
I've made this video to offer some advice and guidance as to what you can do next.

Totally agree with you. I think due to the situation of pandemic, Cambridge is counting more on students' academic scores rather than their potential. My predictions are A*AAA with 4A* in GCSE, and both my interviewers gave me the highest overall grades --"definitely worth an offer". The professor even commented me as "fantastic student""will be a pleasant addition to our community". However, my predictions are not stronger than others so I was rejected after being pooled.

Applied for CompSci and rejected from pool on Monday Nonetheless, I'm grateful that people around me have provided so much support throughout such challenging process 😉 I haven't heard anything from other unis yet and this is putting me at a loss... Anyway, I'm looking forward to pursuing my interest somewhere else Your videos are really helpful. Thanks a lot!

Just got pooled and rejected for economics this year. I got top 5% in my maths part admission test and sometimes it comes to my mind that I’m very close to getting in. It’s an annoying thought but after a few days and your video I’m much better.

Getting pooled means you're essentially good enough to get in but got unlucky, and well done for getting top 5%.

Hi, i received my rejection last Monday and am not eligible for adjustment. I made my application as a post-qualification applicant and am considering reapplying. Do you think this is worth it, as many successful re-applicants' story seem to emphasise that having achieved their grades now gives them a advantage?

Hey I'm sorry to hear that. If you were a post-qualification applicant, then I think it's unlikely you'll get an offer the second time round if there isn't a significant change to your application. I guess you could do something in your year out to boost your application, but maybe it's better to go somewhere else instead of taking what I guess is a second gap year? Hope that helps.

@@IlyasCambridgeAdviceit would be second gap year and that was what I was expecting to hear as that makes sense. What things would boost my application? Additional a levels? I'm interested in natural sciences so I wouldn't think work experience, even if relevant, might help?

@@haha-qj8pw I guess you could do more science/maths A-levels, or some kind of work experience/internships. Maybe you could send an email to an admissions tutor to see what they would like to see. Another option is to just do your undergrad elsewhere and apply to Oxbridge for your postgraduate studies.

If you start to improve after your GCSEs could you be accepted?

It's not impossible. Look at Ibz mo for example: www.ibzmo.co.uk/our-story He got Bs, Cs, and Ds at GCSE and still got in, but he's not very representative of the average Oxbridge student. Most Oxbridge students have mostly A*s and As at GCSE though, so if you want to get in with bad GCSE you'll have to work hard and stand out in sixth form.

I currently hold an offer in English at UEA. From what I've heard about the Cambridge English course it is quite similar in quality. I know someone who did Maths at Imperial College and that's higher rated than Oxford.

The message is don't worry, poor yourself a drink and get the most out of a "lessor" institution and who knows, if you work hard you may get to Oxbridge for a Masters?

@@IlyasCambridgeAdvice haha I was nervous and didn't read the data I needed to. Ended up getting figures wrong by careless mistakes 2 times, once after another in the same question. The interviewer raise voices and told me what data I was missing. Ended up wasting their time :(

I don't have a scholarship because in general, you'll only get a scholarship from Cambridge if you really need the money. Pretty much everyone at Cambridge is a top student, so the scholarships and bursaries go to anyone who otherwise would financially struggle. One question: why are you implying that people who get into these 'elite institutions' are better or academically/-intellectually superior than anyone else?.... Please note that It is not just the 'academic potential', there are many more things and reasons that you have not considered here (,and we all know that but unfortunately no one likes to talk about it in public!).
