What If Qui Gon Jinn Killed Darth Maul?

This is a very good theory. The only major flaw is that Count Dooku turned to the dark side because of Qui Gon’s death; because the Jedi council refused to help with the Naboo conflict, causing for Dooku’s apprentice to be killed in an incredibly unnecessary fashion.

the thing is, Qui Gon understood Anakin's affection towards Padme as he once held love for a fellow Jedi. maybe if he had lived, he could have trained Anakin to be a more balanced and capable Jedi and likely would have stopped Anakin from falling to the dark side. this also could have led to a potential crisis within the council as some would have gone against what Qui Gon stood for

ive always believed qui-gon would have eventually figured out who palpatine actually was. the jedi as a whole were too focused on the war, they werent paying attention to what was going on right under their noses. dooku practically shouted sidious' true identity to obi-wan.

This is such a beautiful what if. The part though that always gets me emotional is Anakin deciding not to kill the Tuscans. He'd been taught about loss. Such a change is monumental, considering where he'd end up canon. Seeing a timeline where he doesn't suffer makes me all happy inside.

Darth Sidious was afraid of Qui-Gon because of his strong connection with the force, that's why Sidious wanted to kill him quickly. If Maul couldn't kill him, Sidious would continue to try. Also, through his strong connection to the force, Qui-Gon probably could sense order 66 before it happened and warn the other Jedi, that's why Sidious was afraid of him, but in this timeline Qui-Gon would let order 66 happen? I don't think so.

I think that had Qui Got survived survived one of his top priorities would've been to free Shmi Skywalker from her servitude to Watto and reunite her with her son Anakin.

I slightly disagree with Qui-gon jinn Allowing order 66 to go through; I feel that he would've Intervene and prevent the order from going through just as darth sidious is about to say the words with everything else playing out just as described in this video, other than that I enjoyed listening to this very much, you should do one where he lives and uncovers the ancient teachings and code of the je'daii order with both anakin and obi-wan!💯😁😉👍

When re watching the prequels you can actually see how arrogant and naive the Jedi council were. When qui gon and obi wan approached the Jedi council that they had encountered a Sith Lord they were dismissive and didn’t believe that it was possible

Didn't Dooku mainly leave the Order because of Qui Gons death?? I think if Qui Gon lives, he stays with him. I'd also say that Palp would go hard on killing Qui Gon, because the turn could be a lot more potent.

I really appreciate the Grey Jedi arc, that seems like the natural progression of how things would play out.... I'd pay good money to see a two-part full feature 'What If' based on this!

I don’t see dooku becoming a sith, he left the Jedi once qui gon died, he left and joined the sith to take revenge for qui gon, that was his real reason for leaving, but since he didn’t die dooku probably never would’ve left, it was even said in the novels and comics that he left because of that reason, that his death was the final straw, without that he’d still would’ve stayed. I don’t think dooku would’ve left, sure the Jedi refused to help his home world but he looked past that little betrayal, he even said he did, sure he was pissed but that wasn’t the reason he left, qui gons death was, because dooku told the Jedi that the sith would return me that’s the reason he became the best duelist in the order to counter the ancient enemy, and dooku was the best duelist, yoda said dooku was the best he’s seen, and after him and dooku dueled in AOTC, sidious feared dooku because he stood toe to toe with yoda in an open area where yoda had the biggest advantage and held him down, sidious tried to run to the hall way cause he knew if yoda had open space he’d beat him cause yodas form is at its best in open areas but dooku didn’t run he held yoda off and fought him to a stalemate or even won, stalemate is more like it, he didn’t stay to fight yoda cause he sensed clones and reinforcements closing in and if he stayed he’d be out numbered. But dooku told the Jedi that the sith would return and they frowned on him and laughed more or less and thought their wisdom and sight was more important and dooku saw this when qui gon died and he said the Jedi lost their way and that’s the reason qui gon died. So he left for that reason.

These what ifs are amazing. It just add so much to the Star Wars universe! Makes you think about so many other outcomes from different events!

Qui Gon jinn killing maul would have totally changed things

I find it hard to believe that Palpatine would allow Qui-Gon to take Anakin from him. I'm sure that he would try to assassinate him, either himself or by commanding Dooku to do so (Grievous wasn't created that early in time, otherwise he would be his pawn of choice). The problem is that Dooku might be hesitant to kill Qui-Gon, like he was in this story. But as Sidious is willing to get his hands dirty (like against Maul and Savage), I can see him killing Qui-Gon himself.

Yeah this could have happened specifically when Kenobi got separated hanging on that ledge before going to that reactor room.

I feel this would be fairly accurate, though Dukou would have more likely tried to use his lightsaber as he is very renowned for his skill with it. As typically happens with his battles, he uses force lightning to start with and then moves on to his saber

Now hold on, a very important reason for Dookus final fall to the Dark Side was Qui Gon's death, so that part would have been different too. Perhabs Palpatine would have evern corrupted a different Jedi or taken back Maul.

One thing sticks out in all of these. Dooku only fell to the dark side because of Qui Gon's death. Has he survived I don't think Dooku would have fallen.

If qui-gon defeated Darth maul Palpatine wouldn't show himself he was afraid of qui-gon Palpatine will have to find another way to get to anakin it would take a long time though. But when Luke and laiah is born Palpatine will try and manipulate both or one of the siblings to join.

I don't completely agree with all that happens in this video. I don't believe Qui Gon would simply do everything that Obi Wan didn't. Qui Gon would likely warn Anakin about attachnebt because he was once in love and almost fell to the dark side when his love was lost. And i def dont think they'd sinply let order 66 occur.

Dooku wouldn’t have fallen to the dark side in this ark of the story. It was Qui-Gon’s death that drove him to the dark side.

Obi wan wouldn't become a master for helping kill maul, I mean he became a knight in the original timeline, also I don't think you can jump from padawan to master.

Not much would change. Dooku would remain a Jedi. Anakin would become Qui Gons Apprentice. Obi Wan becomes a Jedi Knight just as Qui Gon wanted him to.

If you look at their brief fight on Tattooine, Qui-Gon is much like The Undertaker--an unusually agile, quick, and coordinated big man. Using Ataru, which makes him unusual as it's best for smaller fighters like Yoda. Thus, in both fights, we see him thoroughly hold his own against Maul and even force him back at times. However, Maul used a bit of tactical genius in isolating him from Obi-Wan and forcing him into a confined space. The way Qui-Gon would have won would have been to actually retreat back when the laser doors began opening to both link back up with Obi-Wan and have a bit more time to regain his wind.

You are correct on must of the story you told, but I believe Obi-Wan would of taken Qui-gon place and Darth Mual would of killed Obi-Wan. Instead of Obi-Wan getting kicked and separated him from Qui-gon and gave Mual the chance to kill Qui-gon, but this would of been Obi-Wan instead. Now I also believe the force would of shifted and Yoda would of sense this as well as Palpatine. Yoda would of allowed Qui-gon to train Anakin since it would of been the right choice, but will fear for Qui-gon instead because the Sith would hunt him down to prevent him to train the boy since Palpatine would know that the boy will be the chosen one and needs to corrupt him to the darkside before hand. Count Dooku I believe would of died by Darth Sidious hand once he realized he betrayed him and Darth Sidious would of failed to turned Anakin to the darkside no matter what because of Qui-gon. I do believe that Qui-gon, Ahsoka, and Anakin would of been Grey Jedi and would be creating the new order after the fall of Darth Sidious.

Man just imagine if anakin was like revan, no prosthetics. Mastering both light and dark side and all the lightsaber forms

Regardless, if Qui Gon had trained Anakin, we wouldn't have had episodes 4-6! Therfore, there wouldn't have been a Star Wars universe to begin with! Just something to think about

This seems good but there were many things that were glossed over - Sidious turning of Anakin was his crown Jewel and would do it again, the reliability of the "grey" jedi listening and interpreting the will of the force, Sidious' being a Sith and attack on him, the fall of the Jedi and convincing Yoda would be difficult. Sidious orchestrated the interactive events of him with Anakin, and would continue to do that. The seat at the council, yet Sidious knowing they won't give him the rank of Master. The frustration of consistently being belittled. The conversation between them being more than profession. I believe that Sidious would not let Anakin go due to Qui Gon. There would be other nexus events Sidious will create. Sidenote: Qui Gon was another member that Sidious had to watch over due to his influence and abilities to hinders the Grand Plan. Hence why Maul, despite a thousand years of sith silence, was send to eliminate Qui Gon. If Sidious didn't kill him the first time, he would orchestrate another attempt when Qui Gon's guard is down. The development of the "Grey jedi" and their "will of the force" is something that is hard to believe. I would wonder why would Dooku be so easily agree with them. During the war, the Jedi, were also against the war, it was due to Sidious that they eventually became a part of it. This is something that Sidious would consider Qui Gon and especially Anakin, for the grooming him and him being the "chosen one" which is a variable in the Sith's Grand Plan. When order 66 has been issued in this verse , the Jedi were eliminated for something similar to an assassination or for something like due a cover up about the Jedi abusing their power, ala Pong Krell. This would means while it is "frowned" upon, the Supreme Chancellor would have his justification to enact Order 66 one way or another. Either way, Qui gon and company doesn't have a good reason, only an ideological faction reason, to kill Sidious since there is no laws for an official to be a Sith AND this "murder" was done out of the Republic information. This still would have made the Jedi, Grey or not, to be the enemy. Especially when you think that Dooku is the leader of the Separistic, so why would the Republic believe him. This "hero" story arc of Qui Gon is great but missed why the Sith were absolute powerhouses. The Sith had control over the very institution that the Jedi swore to protect. The Jedi were not above the Republic, that's why Mace Windu had to kill Sidious in the Prequel. They needed to face the Bureaucracy that the Sith controlled. They had to arrest the Supreme Chancellor during a wartime period, with emergency power, and convince a vote of no confidence with evidence from the enemy leader of the Separatist. No matter how you slice this, the taxation issues with the Separatist is there and in the open. The Supreme Chancellor is dead from an attack from the enemy leader. Everything about this opens up more loose ends and threads. Again, the Sith evolve beyond right or wrong. After all of that, remember that it was only after fighting with Sidious Yoda realise that the Sith have evolved and the Jedi were preparing for the last war. In this belief, he didn't believe that the Sith was any different from before. He just knew that Qui Gon did what he did. Again, the motivations of war in the same place after Sidious' death. Would Yoda be willing to put down his hundred(s) year reign of Grand Master to be relevant from the High Republic to turn over a new leaf, or would he continue to think that the Republic is still in danger and obey the Senate's wishes? This is still difficult to determine. Sidious said it best, "You were nothing more than a pawn in a game played by a genuine master." The Jedi was destined to lose, they had no one except Dooku who could have prevented this. The Prequels is a political masterpiece. And this writing is an ode to the series, despite its flaws, to share how impactful this "What If" is and what the Jedi would need to overcome with just one change.

Count Dooku likely wouldn't have left the order if qui gon survived. Qui Gon's death was like the cherry on top for count dooku, He was already beginning to disagree with the council and their doings. But it was qui gon dying that tipped him over the edge.

This is great but Dooku in canon apparently fell to the darkside awhile before the clone wars. He believed he could be the one to cheat death, little did he know it would be Qui Gon

I didn't have a comment at first when I first watched this this morning. But I thought of something a while ago. Palpatine would need some younger to take on the Sith Legacy, cause Dooku is even older than he is. I know he was looking to cheat death but he would probably have to plan ahead as he was probably not fully aware of that possibility just yet. Maybe Ventress.

Even if he had killed Darth Maul, he still couldn't escape the fact he ALREADY had a Padawan. It didn't matter if he felt Obi-Wan was ready for the Trials, the Council did not. It could have been years before Obi-Wan took the Trials and the likelihood of Anakin being paired with another Master seems prudent, especially since the Jedi High Council understood Qui-Gon was often defiant of the Council.
