I think the Dutch would've joined on the side of the British in this scenario since they remained neutral during WW1 in our world because both Germany and the UK were big tradepartners for them and they're on the same team here. Maybe they would want to gain French Guyana, Islands in the Carribean or French Indochina after the war to expand their already existing colonies in those areas.
I really doubt america would ever join, as british and german relations were actuallly great at the time and they had a large german population who hadn’t integrated well enough yet, so war would have little support, and that russia being be able to push germany and austria is unlikely with their stability and political situation. but i really liked the rest.
Thank you very much! You might be right, but I decided to sacrifice a bit of realism, in order to make the video more interesting. Without these events, the video would miss something and would be a lot shorter. In the end, I get paid by making interesting videos, not realistic. This is just how the system works
Only the Russians pushed into mainland Germany. Also in WW1, the Germans were pushed back from Memel for example. So it has historically happened, that's what I am basing it off.
@@rewriting-history Ok there’s no way that France can invade and conquer Belgium and threaten Germany’s flank now contending with Italy and Britain. Russia could only enter Memel because Germany had focused most of its troops on France, and even then the Russians were routed (albeit miraculously) before conquering East Prussia
@@sergeanttentacles1359I totally agree France had almost half the population of Germany, and in this scenario has to cover two fronts while fighting in the colonies.
@tainted-rn Yeah as Germany was contending with a two front war along with assisting along various other fronts, a naval blockade from the biggest power in the world, and while occupying a hugely important part of French territory and nearly all of Belgium. In this scenario, none of this happens. Germany steamrolls France and Russia.
Honestly this would be a great premise for a HOI4 mod! Also regarding the Asian Theatre, I could possibly forsee these two things: 1. The Tongmenghui could potentially be the ones instigating the civil war with British support, as Sun Yat-sen had many connections to the British 2. Perhaps Siam could also get involved in the war somehow, as the royal family of Siam under King Rama V (Chulalongkorn) had deep ties to Britain (many of his children, including future King Vajiravudh studied in the UK, such as at Eton College and Sandhurst Military Academy), and also because the Siamese had recently come out of a war against the French in 1893, and therefore may wish to reclaim their former territories lost from the war.
@@rewriting-history oh that would be really cool i hope it works out i would like see the hoi4 content creators diverse a little i got bored of the repeated content they do
it just seems unfair to the french that there are 6 major powers of the ottomans, italians, british, germans, austrians AND japanese against france and russia, and later USA. in this alternate history russia still hadn't modernised as much as the other powers so the french alliance other than the USA would get pounded.
Cool Video! I'm not entirely sure about US-Expansionism and the Quing war entry. Instead I'd assume Japans simply starts it's war against China and so they are "kinda allied" to Japans enemies. They are fun additions tho! Also, I would have assumed Greece might have joined France as well, since they also want Ottoman lands.
I feel like if the USA was involved than France and Russia could hold, unless the British sent everything at France and Russia and ignored the west Indies and Canada. I could also see an American naval invasion of Malaysia (remember the USA already won the Spanish-American war so they'd have the Philippines)
France on this timeline becomes fascist or communist revanchist, Italy stills unsatisfied with territorial gains, Russia could become communist or isolationist and Japan becomes a threads for Germany and UK instead of USA. WW2 on this timeline become interesting, we need a second part. Good video.
At your map of africa at the end of the war transvaal and orange free state would probably also still be independent but that’s just a minor thing really
I am well aware that they could be colored in as independent nations, but decided to ignore that, just so I dont spend 5 minutes explaining the whole situation, which doesn't matter for the outcome of the video.
In retrospect, securing a Cape to Cairo rail just isn't worth losing our Canadian brethren to those opportunistic American warhawks. I refuse to call _that_ war a British victory because it really isn't. Even Italy in our WW1 didn't get ripped off like that.
Very nice video, I like that u set it up from a lesser known incident and the catalyst for the war starting is fair enough. The Italians taking Tunisia from France is also sensible, but dependent on how they do in the war, I’m not too sure on Corsica or savoy.
Fingers crossed! I can't imagine this happening one day, this would tear me up, really want this to happen! Thank you again, with your support, i will get there!
I just discovered this channel yesterday! And this video shown me how promising this channel is! Also, the best part here is that the Ottoman Empire survived because the United Kingdom, Austria-Hungary and Germany were fighting on the same side! Sure, it costed the UK Canada. But if World War II broke out, I can assumed that the U.S might be willing to give Canada back in order to gain an alliance with the United Kingdom against whoever the enemies in World War II of the Allies are.
It was 1898 France this time had a modernised and the most ready army in Europe in no world would they lose their main Army on the European soil even less with no german Schlieffen plan in the early stage of the war, seeing how badly the british performed in ww1 it would also be no match for the French army of the time.
I’d really like to see this timeline continued to the modern day, I feel like Austria Hungary would probably collapse in about 20-30 years after this war as they are very split nationally, with Serbs, Bosnians, Croats, Hungarians, Slovaks, Germans and Czechs. And I feel like The Tsardom of Russia would have survived at least a bit longer than they did in our timeline. It would also be interesting to think of whether decolonisation would still happen, as some historians say that that was a consequence of ww2.
You know they could have bridges to go over each other rail roads then everybody wins long as no one blows up the intersection rail line and blame it on the other.
Yes they could, this would even solve the problems with the Portuguese. Maybe in an alternative timeline they give these lands to a neutral nation like Switzerland and they get to build their railroads there. What do you think about this scenario?
@@rewriting-history I like it, plus it futher give the Swiss some land to work with and it really make sure the bigger powers play nice since invading Switzerland or any colonies they have always would end badly for the invader.
Can you make a video about?: what if Belgium didn't break away from the Netherlands. With resulting in a much more powerful Nehterkands with beingg a large colonial power
Yes! One of my friends is working on a scenario about united Benelux and I am helping him, you should check it out on the Alternate History Guild channel whenever it releases!
Thank you for leaving a comment. It's unlikely that the USA would have joined, but I feel it would make the video twice as interesting, so it was worth it to sacrifice some realism, in order to achieve this.
@@rewriting-history that is true, but austria hungary would probably last a few more years because the war is so much less straining (no british blockade), but you’re right
Which side would Greece join? If against the ottoman side could mean them losing independence. Or on the other side maybe they get some new territory. Just saying?
I have an idea for a video. What if Sweden never let Norway leave the union and the Norwegians try to liberate themselves and accidentally starting ww1
Britain would never allow America to take Canada Britain’s Navy had far superior strength to Americas infact the American Navy then compared to the Royal Navy then is like the comparison between the 2 now but reversed. Also the Canadian Army was way better equipped than the American army at the time the Americans had a smaller army than even some of the smaller European countries. So it’s laughable that Canada fell. Also with Japan on the British side America Would have to worry about the Philippines so couldn’t have all their troops on the mainland. In my opinion Britain would immediately send its army from Europe to Canada as soon as France falls and it would stabilise the situation in North America. Eventually America after having their navy destroyed and a more supplied British defence would be pushed out of Canada and after Britain begins shelling the American coast they would eventually sue for peace.
Hello! Yes it was my mistake in the mapping, it sucks, but it's too late to fix it! I'm glad that not so many people notices, you have an attention to detail!
I love how the USA comes out the biggest winner as we get canada. But it be weird for Hawaii to be under the rising sun of japan but their no way britan be able to take canada provinces back as their now stayes part of the USA.
France didn't really wanted to consolidate power over those specific lands as much as the British, plus France at the time knew goddamn well that Britain was fairly superior to them, moreover this zone didn't have enough natural resources interest to be seen at the time, so it's like impossible. Still the video was good
I don't really see why Austria Hungary would join the war. They didn't really have anything to gain except for more possible instability. Even in the video all they gain is a puppet in Ukraine. I'd imagine they'd pull an Italy and say their alliance with Italy and Germany was defensive and stay out of the war. At least until one side was clearly about to win for the sake of being able to say they were on tbe winning side and maybe gain minor lands and a puppet or two. Even then it'd be a maybe.
@@rewriting-historyYeah, I could see why you included them for the sake of the video, but realistically they wouldn't join. At least not till later in the war.
Thank you, I appreciate it! I just wanted to make the video slightly more interesting with that twist+ this would create another enemy for the USA if I decide to make a part 2
Nice Video! I Really Liked The Plot Of An Early World War I! However, I Think That The French Would’ve Lasted Longer In Africa Due To French Mobilization In Their Colonies After Rising Tensions With Germany And Italy. Still Though, Great Video!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think also that the French will realistically last longer in Africa, but there was no point in me mentioning the continent every 10 seconds and border changes there, so i threw it all together. This is so the video is more engaging and interesting!
Absolutely! You Did A Great Job On The Video And I’m Excited To See More Vids Like This! Here Is An Idea For A Potential Future Video: What If Qing Empire Survived?
I think it's a good scenario but it's very likely the US isn't able to keep canada in this scenario. They can win on the land but before the 1914-1916 naval build up the US navy was extremely weak, realistically it'd be beaten into the ground & the UK could likely keep up a blockade against them. & i don't think canada is worth what would likely be a complete loss of international trade for the US for a very long time.
I find the idea that Russia could beat Germany on the battlefield in 1898 ludicrous. Russia was the rising star of europe in the early 20th century, and the power ratio between Russia and Germany grew in Russias favor over time. If Russia couldn't beat Germany in 1914, they would have been absolutely destroyed in 1898. Yes, people THOUGHT it was a respectable power before the war with Japan in 1905, but that was precisely incorrect. The war with Japan did not weaken Russia, it simply exposed their already existing weaknesses and gave them the possibility to somewhat reform. Germany vs. Russia in 1898 would have been an absolute blowout.
I agree with you and Russia in the end lost, so I don't see a problem. I twisted the reality a little bit, because that would make for a more interesting video. If I was 100% realistic, than France and Russia would get crushed very fast. USA and China won't join, so there goes half of the video.
Yeah. usually the UK dosnt like those types of wars of attrition as they cost to much and are unpopular. I just found ur channel and im binge watching ur vids now XD@@rewriting-history
Yes, it makes the video a lot more exciting, but that Russia, with the military possibilities of the time, could launch such an attack without this already being discovered during mobilization or something similar is extremely unlikely (that all major powers also mobilized directly during the first conflict was money-technically sometimes not possible at all@@rewriting-history
"The Japan would secure Hawaii" wtf? This scenario just disregarded the external affairs of Japan so much that apparently invading Russia should be an imperial concern, now listen here buddy, Japan wasnt concerned about Sakhalin and Outer Manchuria (Vladivostok) and yes with Korea thats the main reason Japan would "invade" Russia (though occupying Manchuria was a army interest) theres no ressemblance of a reason to the army, navy or the Imperial government itself to war Russia since theres nothing to gain and if theres something to gain i doubt Japan would break through Vladivostok garrisons since one of the main reason for their victory in Korea was because the Russians were underequipped and poorly trained and this would be different when Russia needs to guard their ports agaisnt maybe... just maybe the biggest naval power in the world, also invading Vladivostok is way to convenient, about Hawaii the only thing i gotta say about japanese naval landings in 1900... is go study please...
I understand what you are saying and I am well aware of how unrealistic is my scenario. My channel might not be for you, since I want to create some what unrealistic but for sure very interesting scenarios! If i was 100% realistic, than nothing interesting would have happened.
What if the Kingdom of England during the hundred years war successfully conquered amd annex the France like they almost did due to English armies while out numbered they andtheir alkies Brittany, Brugandy, and Flanders had the finest trained armies of their time, especially on account of the English longbow. Thid wpuld mesn burgundy still be in existence. And with france being oart of England the english would be the ones to claim france real life north America colonies, but the English would not have a strong navy as they have more foucsed on a very strong professional land army. But not a strong navy to beat other European navies or fully stop the American and Canadian colonies from rebeling in the American revolution accept Canadian coloines join the the USA as bew States due to a mix Anglo Franco culture. And long before that during the remaing medieval era the kingdon. Of England would be one of the strongest kingsoms in Europe and their armies second to none.
Nice idea! I had a similar idea planned out, it was supposed to be what if the 100 years war was actually 100 years, in which the UK would be way more powerful and would be able to dominate the french.
@@rewriting-history nice considering the french knights, Lords, dukes and generals spent more time bickering and fighting each other and draging their mem at arms into the feuds, while the English knights, men at arms and bowmen who often were known as Yeomen were a united professional army as the English would perfer fighting on foot so they could protect their longbowmen from other knights of the french.

I wanted to include them, so that every continent gets involved, but it would take too much time, and the video was already long enough. After all the video is not about this region, so there is no point in me including them, just because
Some mistakes that you made : bulgaria still a puppet of ottoman empire, king carol I of romenia is a pro german so i doub thery join in french facction
I'm Bulgarian and I disagree with the puppet statement. It's true that they officially got their independence in 1908, but before that they were just as independent. About Romania, they Desired Transylvania more than anything else, if Carol I declared war to Bulgaria and Russia to regain Southern Dobrugea and Bessarabia, his people would overthrow him, imo.
@@rewriting-history Britain was infinitely more powerful than Spain lol 😂 I’m always in hysterics wherever I watch that part. It’s genuinely hilarious that in this scenario America just cuz they beat up the sick man of Europe they take all of Canada. No just no a simple look at American logistics at the time is enough to realise why that would end up being an absolute nightmare for the American army at the time let alone what would happen to their poor navy. In short Canada wouldn’t fall at all by the time America gets fully mobilised their navy would be sunk and the Canadians would’ve held the Americans at bay long enough for Britain to arrive with a larger army group and able to cut America off from global trade using its undisputed naval hegemony causing America to sue for peace. The video is still great and that part is always good for a laugh lol.
