collision of black holes would kill everything in long range and it creates gravitional waves. We discovered gravitional waves this year, I mean 2016. It was created in collision of two black holes.
@raptor2265
@raptor2265 7 лет назад
The reason why there are roche limits is because the satellite (moon, planet, planetoid, etc.) is close enough to a large enough body that the gravity is unevenly distributed across the surface of the satellite, meaning it is stronger on one side than the other. This, in turn, pulls it apart.
@jakebatty530
@jakebatty530 7 лет назад
Raptor22 that's assuming it orbits fast enough so that there is centrifugal force acting nn it aswell and gravity is stronger on each parts across the diameter.of the moon, mainly if the object is big enough too that's why you are left Sith asteroid rings and why satellites don't bust (unless they orbit really fast)

what will happen if earth wass in the suns place idea
@vitrasite4865
@vitrasite4865 7 лет назад
The Director 135 Let's simplify this and exclude our Moon and most laws of physics from consideration. If the Sun and the Earth-Moon system swapped places just now, it would be mayhem. Every other planet would be sucked into the Sun almost instantaneously depending on which side of the orbit they are on, unless they collided with each other in the process and disintegrated. The Earth itself might or might not remain in a stable orbit. However, with Jupiter gone, it would be hard to tell how much longer Earth would survive because the entire equilibrium of the system has shifted. If the giant planets are on the other side, they might steady themselves and become more elliptical in their orbits, but that seems unlikely. If some of them do and the others don't, they might migrate back and forth and might destabilize or capture the Earth. Since the Sun would have moved closer to the Kuiper belt, its gravity could cause planetary growth there. We could suddenly (in a span of a couple of million years) have new planets. But the billion or so haphazard movements of bodies would definitely increase the likelihood of one of them colliding into Earth and destroying it permanently to almost 99%.

Interesting stuff. You have placed a Moon-sized object inside the Roche limit and had it in a stable orbit at a constant distance from the Earth. You could make it even more interesting by: --having a similar object approach the Earth DIRECTLY at various speeds. As it approached, the 'Moon' would begin to disintegrate slowly, but the tidal effects would increase as it got nearer. I believe (depending, of course, on the speed) it would break up at an accelerating rate. I think this would mean that various size debris fragments would impact the Earth. If the 'Moon' was approaching extremely fast, it might be able to hold together long enough to get a massive, single collision for the simulation. --experimenting with differing compositions for the 'Moon' to see how it held together. Try a sold iron object, for example. Should be fascinating. Another idea. Try a very small black hole orbiting very close to the Earth. It would begin to attract the Earth's atmosphere, but that might be all that would happen. The end result might be a black hole orbiting an airless Earth but with increased tectonic activity. I wonder how the Earth's gravity would affect the black hole in terms of its shape.

I like to imagine how beautiful some of the planets would be at closer distance. For example, what would Jupiter look like from Earth if it was at the same distance as the moon? It would be interesting to view in both real time (before earth is torn apart) and at 10x speed during day and night with normal sun lighting conditions. Perhaps also viewing the umbra of earth on Jupiter. I really appreciate the work you are doing. Also, the channel "Yeti dynamics" has some of the most scientifically accurate simulations that I've seen.

8:25 moon is no longer held together gravitationally and stops losing mass. actually gains mass from collisions with other objects. cool. but then it starts losing mass again :( i guess a 100km object will still feel huge stresses from the delta in gravity when orbiting that close to earth.
@obtrunco
