i kinda wish this was how the playoffs were set up. 12 or 14 games in regular season, to set up first 7+1 teams, then do the bracketing as you displayed and round robin games. Feel like you can get the divisional rival games in the normal season, plus it would change the fact that you can have teams that do poorly, but because they are still leaders of their division due to bad division, making playoffs. The NFL should try this at least once to see the response

Fun idea, fun to watch. You got the host right by placing Group A. And you got the other 7 top seeds right by randomly placing them each in a different group. But after that there are still pot 2, pot 3, and pot 4. Just like seeds 1-7 the teams 1-8 in pot two cannot play each other. Likewise pot 3 and 4. So all you had to do was use the wheel again for each of pot 2-4. The pots are determined by FIFA ranking. So that way in each group you have one team from each pot. So every group theoretically is balanced with a strong team progressively weaker to the 4th team.

You forgot the 3rd place game. Which would definitely be good since it was Cowboys vs. Eagles

The only thing you missed is that they don’t just seed the top 7 teams, they do it for each place in the group. So you have Seed 1,2,3 and 4 meaning you wouldn’t get group C because the panthers and lions would be in seed 4.

That was great documentation. One thing to add though is all the teams get seeded into 4 pots. The 1st pot which you had contains the 1st-7th ranked team in the NFL +host; the 2nd pot, the 8th-15th ranked team; the 3rd pot, the 16th- 23rd team, and the 4th pot would contain the 24th - 31st ranked team. In that way, the so-called group of death would not consist of all 4 teams who could possibly be division champions.

I love the idea and great video! But I would’ve have done the format differently . I would’ve have done seeding like this I would’ve have had 8 seeds 1-4 for example, you would decide the top 8 teams in the NFL, those would be the 1 seeds. Then the next 8 best teams in the NFL and they would be 2 seeds, etc to the 4 seed. Then draw one of each to every group (for group A the Cardinals would most likely be a 4 seed so no need for a four seed in that group). But anyways draw one of each to every group to make them as even as possible. Fun video, fun concept, couple of things to note, first Qatar is a nation, and Fifa World Cups have host nations, not host cities 🤣 second, it's not just the first team in the group that is being picked based on fifa rankings, every team is picked like that, they are sorted in 4 hats of 8, i think that would make the tournament even more balanced. And lastly, you could've done it based on power rankings instead of positions in the board cause that can be missleading at times

To make the groups you should have split the teams into 4 groups, the 7 best teams+ the cardinals, the next 8 best teams, the next 8 and then the worst 8 teams. You should have then randomised each of them into the groups, like you did with the best teams. This is much closer to how it actually works for the world cup where teams are split into 4 different 'pots'.

Looking back at this down, group c, or group cupcake, might have all 4 of their teams in the playoffs
