My Last Video: • Instagram's Attempt at...
In this mini video essay I explore the anecdote "what if the roles were reversed" and how people use this anecdote as a one size fits all solution to all of their bad arguments. A lot of this video is based on gender roles, their existence and what role they play within our society and how bad faith actor such as Keemstar or Andrew Tate try and create a false world where there is both a large gender disparity and no gender disparity at the same time. Super fun I hope you guys are enjoying this, a little more politically themes video essays :)

You look like the lovechild of skeet and sheldon. Nice argument btw.

I don't agree with all of your points, but I appreciate how respectful you stayed throughout the entire video! This is the kind of discourse we need more of.

Woman definitly pressure men into those roles. You can see countless stories online and irl of men who were humiliated for opening up about their feelings to their partners, or of women viewing men as sex machines, among other things

I think these arguments can be used but shouldn't be the main argument

great video, really good to see a man understand this. I've always loathes the "if the roles were reversed" argument, its so un-nuanced. you truly put into words my thoughts about this issue. you have an excellent insight, keep posting videos like this, I'm surprised you don't have more views and subs (just gained one from me), this was a well produced video. would be interested to see you do a video on mens issues, its a ver interesting topic, but really spoken about by people with such a balanced perspective.

Thank you so much :) It's very encouraging to hear that this resonates with people. I would love to do a video on something like that in the future!

Thank you for making this video! I feel like a lot more men will listen since they can see themselves in you, instead of hearing it from a woman that "might potentially have something to gain" from this discourse. Thank you soooo much! Well said🔥

Great video ngl, I guess I just understand the "what if genders were reversed" thing differently, since I mostly see in discussions of women committing SA against minors

Thanks! That's fair, I have definitely seen a lot of that as well which is why I tried to heavily disclaim that aspect of the argument haha!

I love reversed roles argument. It takes two opposing positions and shows a clear bias between them. This helps any discourse. Or rather it doesn't, because one of the sides feels threatened and devolves and start throwing poo at the other. Physical pressure: This seems absolutely... weird. If what you are saying is true, it's not physical pressure that is at play here but intimidation. The appearance of physical ability that is. Did Jake show the girl that he can punch 100kg or something? Or was she simply going along because she knew who he is and was scared of his prestige. You can't tell how strong someone is just by looking at them. This intimidation is really too subjective to apply even generally. Nobody can just look at another person and go "he's a man so he must be strong". And the assault examples don't always happen to buffy guys and weak scared women. You know that drugs exist, right? You can barely lift 10kg, as long as you can lift 5g and a glass of water this goes completely out the window. And I know it wasn't an example, but "I'm talking in general". Social pressure: Your point utterly fails here, to be honest. A 17-year old is not intimidated by and adult's strength, because they're a woman? You only compared genders with no other factors, do most male children feel strong against women? Physical pressure in that case shouldn't be male > female, but adult > teen. And would you look at that, we arrive and the exact same scenario as the first example. Also, we're talking about teachers in this case. Does being a teacher not apply any sort of authority? Tbh, I don't get your point, maybe that was my fault. You seem to argue about what can be considered normal. I really don't know what you wanted to achieve. Is female over male sexual assault ok? No? Then why are you trying to explain it? And in some sciency-sounding manner to boot? Let's do the roles reversed again. If a weak, younger, unemployed woman assaults a strong, older, ceo-stuff man, what are you trying to say? That if the assault happens, the man gave consent? That the woman didn't commit any crime? Or that it is perfectly fine and we shouldn't point at the discrepancy at this? I think all your points can be connected by one single string, and that is "society thinks males are better". Physical pressure? Because males are better. Social pressure? Because males are better. Job pressure? Because society hires people who it thinks are better. The only reason that males are hired for risky jobs is because women are told that they shouldn't take them and men are seen as perfect candidates. And you can't disprove anything I've said because I'm talking "in general". Well, I wrote a lot. I dislike people trying to explain the world by using their own heads. You're not explaining reality this way - you're explaining your model of reality that your brain gave you. None of what I've said should be taken seriously, they were all speculations. On the same level that most points in this video were.

Also you explain a lot of this in the Andrew Tate section. I completely agree with that part :3 And the BLM role reversal is not really comparable, I don't think there are many memes that say "black people can oppress white people and nobody cares / white person oppresses black person and society can't shut up". People care when both these things happen. WLM is just a slogan that is used to silence the BLM one. Just like some conservatives demand a month for straight people's pride. It's not a role reversal issue, it's an oppression issue. And sure, in a way women were oppressed - and I think it's those people who still remember those times that keep it alive. The role reversal just cleans up the leftovers.

Good video, although I would say that a woman should resist and say always no to the person who does an non concensual action. I know she most likely won't be able to fight back if she gets assaulted, but she should always try anyway

I've checked the study you were talking about, or at least an article that is claimed to be the study, and I wanted to puke halfway. The amount of sexist assumptions and words there is overwhelming. But I would agree that the same sexist assumptions are also the cause of this? That the men are pressured into being masculine by their parents, most likely. It's not so much that the wife threatens the man's masculinity, but that his parents and friends do. Well, that's just my opinion though, although it stands on the same level as those "experts" that I found on University of Chicago study. They show one number and then the rest is just speculation.
