@@beaub152 So apperently its like an extra setting that one can go into to modify the way factories make stuff, like the way Generals have a ability screen, the industry tab kinda has the same thing.
@@Curtwhogamessure but still way too big. 20-25 maybe 30 width would have been enough. No point in having 12 units per tile if they fight 1 or 2 at a time and get reinforced meme haha Still, good video. Thanks for the work
Imagine being German and advancing with all your fancy stuff and you kill wave after wave of Soviets only armed with guns and they just don't stop coming!
Next time if you do this I have some advice. -Reduce overstacking, there is an overstacking penalty in hoi4, so you just lose stats for no reason for using too many divs. -Change of combat width to 10, having a multiple of 10 allows you to fit in nearly every terrain type including multi attack combat width expansion. Only downside is reduced HP aka more strength damage and hence equipment loss, but like you are doing human wave. -Stacking infantry behind your lines, slows down the enemy because they have fresh org, some entrenchment, split up the supply, make it harder for enemy to encircle. Personally I hate using frontline orders when fighting, I like controlling every divs, but obviously some people dont want to do this so, just make up more backup lines then the stalin line. -Also I dont know whether you did this but ensure that you build supply hubs and upgrade railways to increase supply. -If you want instead of just building trains you can also build trucks just dont put them in divs. -Building AA(state building), to reduce enemy bombing/cas -Scorched earth, I recommened you build more supply, ensure its harder for the enemy to use this advantage. Edit: Group all your infantry into like 1 army, and then put a field marshal on them, so they get some bonuses This is just some advice from a long time hoi4 player, you dont have to use all the advice.
@21kushagragautamxa80idk what u mean by different divisions though, but you can assign divisions to an order (whether it is frontline or fallback line) using control and then clicking the line
Imagine that your government (ussr) sent you to this front with only a gun and a shovel to hold line with no airforce or tanks and artillery against the Germans lol. Edit: Thanks for all the likes, the most I ever had!
I have acutally done this before. I usually play defensive in hoi4 which is why this challange seemed easier then it was was because of the shear defense an infantry block can provide, especially if they're well trained and dug in. Keep it up, I loved watching this!
During the initial onslaught you got reinforce memed, what would have been better then having all units on the front (and thus having 14 units per tile) would be to have 2-3 units per tile into a depth of multiple tiles, preventing a breakthrough, literaly the soviet deep battle doctrine
Here’s a difficult challenge play as Germany in Kaiserreich but set every country that can to go socialist/ align with the third international and win the second weltkrieg
It comes from the fact that the Soviets tended to suffer greater casualties than the Germans even when winning, but yes it wasn’t because of wild infantry charges, but in general that the Germans fielded lower numbers of higher quality weaponry. Even losing everything the Germans had in a battle could still be less than Soviet losses in the same battle. That’s basically what Bagration was, total annihilation of the Germans but the Soviets still had a lot of casualties. You could say the Soviet offensive doctrine was an army wave instead of a human wave. Of course the Soviets still concentrated their forces in spearheads like the Germans did, but more numerous, with less intent to encircle German forces and more just to smash the entire line at once.
It might be because of the war with Finland, I think that before they coordinated the USSR forces they had been using some ww1 tactics where infantry had a really rough time. I think that the KD ratio where 1:10 or so in favour of Finland.
@@J7Handle The Soviets only suffered about 100k more casualties than the Germans during Bagration, which for an army on the offensive is to be expected
I think 50 width is a really bad idea. Even with tanks, I played against another player and reinforce memed him out of every tile even with 30 divisions of his on every tile and only 10 of my 30 width divisions on each of my tiles. It’s just that only maybe two of those 50 width divisions can actually fight on plains tiles, and with heavy exceeded width penalties. Your divisions were probably also getting reinforce memed a lot, especially on the Stalin line, because while the big rivers reduce attacker stats by a lot, the “capture bridge” and “recapture bridge” battle tactics temporarily reduce battle combat width by 50%, which would only permit one of your 50 width divisions in battle and with a severe width exceeded penalty, which is probably how the Germans pushed across so easily. You should have gone for 20 width infantry to minimize reinforcement problems, even though it would slightly increase offensive casualties over 30 width divisions (50 width divisions are still worse than 30 width even for offense). Only time 50 width or larger divisions make any sense is when you’re sending volunteers and want to fight battles with single divisions apiece to fight on multiple different fronts at once. I did this as Kaiserreich Bulgaria once, as I was limited to sending only 1 or 2 volunteers per war (soft division cap prevented me from having a big enough army to do more), also did this as TNO Japan, again because of a soft division cap (a big standing military in TNO increases the military spending, reducing economic growth).
The best way to use the massed assault doctrine is in divisions of 9 to 12 riflemen, provided that they have an engineer company, a tank reconnaissance company, a attack aircraft company, support company, radio communications company. You have no idea how powerful a stormtrooper company or military police can be in terms of increasing enemy casualties and recovery.
you mentioned not knowing the combat width meta, its pretty simple. just look at the terrain types and the max combat width for those, lie plains is 70, mountains is 50, and so on. when you make ur division, make it so ift fits into terrains without going too far over. like 2 36 widths go over in a plains tile by 2, but its a very small debuff in the battle, like 3%, a negligible trade off when you think about how with tanks you are configuring your division, a 36 width can fit more tanks with the loss of org or more motorised with the loss of attack. its just about seeing how many of your divs can fit into a certain battle and all that matters for the battle in terms of combat width is the terrain as far as i know. like for inf i like to do 23 widths i think its like 7 inf and 3 arty iirc and that has enough org to be viable as a division. and 3 of them can fit into a plains tile with no debuffs since they add to 69. if i were yo u, i would do 15 widths maybe since you were doing only inf. or maybe 22 widths since 3 of them in a battle add to 66
I reckon some forts, grand battle plan and, defensive+supply military spirits would give you enough defense to hold, the forts are a bit cheesy though so I suppose it wouldn't make the video very entertaining.
In fact it's much easier than it seems (soooo many mistakes here 🙈), but it implies a lot of micromanaging (that you won't like) and lots of practice with China first.😉 It's a win in the end, so good run anyway!
I don't really understand why there is a stereotype about soviet human waves due the fact that soviets prodused more than 40 thousand t-34 (not including IS and KV tanks). Also due the fact that huge casualties of USSR were mostly civilians killed by SS.
Killed by the germans as a whole, the wehrmacht was just as guilty and complicit in the holocaust and slaughter of civilians as the SS. And yeah, its a very stupid stereotype that comes from anti soviet propaganda during the cold war, and the fact that the most common narrative of the eastern front was written by the germans (but muh victors write history)
This doesn’t work very well in hoi4 because you can only have so many actual troops fighting in combat the rest will just be in reserve taking up insane amounts of supply
now make it manpower only. You can't produce anything with mil factories. in order to compensate, you can make air and fleet the way you want, but no land production
I did an experiment with Poland and manpower/equipment cheat, the initial battles were bad but eventually they run out manpower and you get green bubbles that you can easily push through
23 width, staggered defensive lines (holding supply hubs or behind rivers), upgrade your FM's reinforce rate. When the line is breaking send them behind the next defensive line. With 50 width you only have one div ever fighting no matter how big the stack is. Low width for defense, high width for attack.
The trick to making this 100% easier is to build level 5 forts. You put infantry at the border to slow down the Germans then have your well supplied, well entrenched, infantry set up on the forts on a fall back. The Germans will run into with 0 supply from scorched earth tactics and the AI will just stop attacking for a while and die of attrition
except in reality human waves were supported by absurd amount of tanks and artillery, the dankus heavy tanks spam gameplay is somewhat the most realistic
Did a similar challenge recently but put all 20 Generals under one field marshall. Yeah you don’t get the Bonus but its just so much cleaner and easier to organize. Also I used Radios which I know are not a part of this challenge but I feel they helped so much to not get reinforce memed.
