@@TheRealVenom448PRC reforms relied on a lot of overseas investment though, and it's unlikely that an economically but not politically reformed USSR would see those levels of outside investment. More likely is that the Iran-Iraq war spiraled out of control and ended up destroying all the oil fields in the region, so oil prices stayed sky high and the USSR was able to economically reform while living off of oil money.

The USSR is an explicit dictatorship, and one that isn’t without its war crimes. Look at what Soviet troops did in Afghanistan during the military campaign there. Or if you wanna go even farther back the millions of deaths that Stalin is responsible for. The USA is far from perfect… especially in its past, but at the very least people have any rights at all. I mean I’d certainly rather not get harassed by the Stasi (GDR) just for opposing the state.

Scenario 2 is the best, it would solve a lot of problems! The thing is most of the time the Allies/NATO or even the axis win in hearts of iron 4 Timelapse’s it’s so boring I’ve watched probably 100 Timelapse’s and they always end the same NATO allied victory or axis victory 🙄 so I agree I like the second scenario more it’s more rare for the USSR to win because of how stupid their ai is in hearts of iron 4 Timelapse’s

Nato couldnt have joined this conflict as no former yugoslav nations were apart of nato before the conflict and nato is only defensive. They wouldnt join in the invasion if one nation declared war
What is written in paper is not necessarily reality. NATO directly intervened in the Yugoslav Wars in our timeline and while Russia was sympathetic to Yugoslavia they could not and would not help them because of the consequences of the failed policies of Glasnost and Perestroika. Had they had more Chinese style reforms they would’ve saved Yugoslavia.

The most unrealistic part in both scenarios is Putin setting the nukes aside, considering all the nuclear threats this madman made when Ukraine dared defend their own sovereignty.
The second scenario looks better. It’s just a pity that most often in HOI4, either Germany/Reich or the USA/NATO wins. USSR/Russia always lose due to bad AI.
I think the URSS would eventually colapse on itself mid war, the one in Afghanistan already was pretty devastating to soviet economy. China and the asian front is other story though
@@gabrieltona5833 The problem is not the economy, but Khrushchev. If he had not started selling all state-owned factories and stopping production, the economy would not have started to decline. And then, he simply forcibly dissolved the USSR, despite the fact that during the referendum, residents of Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Moldova spoke out in favor of remaining in the USSR or remake the USSR into a huge Russia (as before the revolution).
