The true advantage Regigigas has over Slaking is that Medicham can still rock its solid support moves while having Slow Start. I tried making Slaking work Skill Swap, but the only Mon that really works with Slaking is Doodle Grafaiai since it erases Truant entirely. They really need to get rid of the restrictions on Truant where it’s immune to pretty much any move that overwrites it like Entrainment and Worry Seed.
Wheezing I find works really well with slaking, and Huge power can also work on tinkaton really with because of its typing. I agree that huge power swap on slaking is too niche to work
I have to sadly agree with that but Skill Swapping Truant to the opponent while they deal with the sloth always feels amazing, have some other partner in the back that can backup Medicham if it needs to switch out and the strategy can be pulled most of the time ;D

You know what is more evil about this combo? Give medicham a choice scarf. So that after it gets slow start, you have a chance to give it to the enemy lol
Choice scarf would lock you into skill swap so you can't trick it to an opponent unless you swap out, still a good item choice because you can skill swap slow start to your opponent but you end up loosing fake out pressure and helping hand support.

Shiny hunted every Regi last Gen and was just gonna pair it with Weezing as per usual, but I forgot that Medicham learns Skill Swap this gen. As long as you have some anti-Follow Me starts and maybe Fake Out disruption, I could see this working well!
that's a really cool combo. I guess the only problem is that Medicham is just so frail. Support mons are generally pretty bulky so they can stay on the field and be annoying. Medicham is also fairly slow in the current meta. Might not even get the chance to use skill swap
So nice to see Regigigas crush face! I have a special endearment for Medicham being my first fighting type in Gen 3 and took all the way to my first Elite 4 win, back when I didn't realize you could heal between the battles so it ended up being a gauntlet ordeal. Wish we could get their mega again, or another evolution to bring it in line with at least starters BST.

Apparently it's not good enough, since this strategy has been available for quite a few years now and so far has seen much success if any. It's the same issue as Weezing. You simply ignore Regigigas and go after the support, so you pretty much take out two pokémon at once since Regigigas is rendered useless then. In fact I think it's worse than Weezing, since you'll benefit from Neutralizing Gas for at least 2 turns with the extra benefit of removing stuff like Intimidate, Sturdy, Prankster, etc., whereas Medicham is frail and slow and won't even be able to Skill Swap a lot of the time. Tldr: Only way to put Regigigas in its rightful place is GF stop being stubborn and get rid of Slow Start or buff it so it goes away after 5 Turns *regardless* of whether Regigigas is on the field or not. And tbf, Huge Power Regigigas isn't even that good compared to how much powercreeping we've been getting.
The problem with this strat is to get medicham to survive long enough to use skill swap. This thing is so frail that most fairy/flying move will ohko it. The 80 speed doesn't help it either. Not to mention most people have at least one priority taunt user on their team. I guess tera dark+focus sash is one way to survive turn 1?
@@jonarhax3388 nope because you can just as easily use fake out + any other move to knock it out. Not to mention moves like espeed or aqua jet are also all over the competitive meta. As soon as someone sees this combo in teams preview they will have some tools to counter it. You might get some wins in the pokemball tier but that's probably as far as you will go for this strat since if this fails you will have a 2V4 situation on turn 2.
Back in the days I was playing him with an ally using simple beam on him, then using grow punch on first turn. It was quite funny. Was planning to do something similar in 8g with any fighting move instead after dynamax but didn t had the chance
There’s a ghost type Regi in a romhack I played once that was so incredible! I remember seeing my friend having Regirock on the GBA and I didn’t even know it was a Pokémon 😂
Tera normal is cool but iirc regi’s moveset kinda sucks. Maybe t-stellar could be decent to close out games and not get walked by anything? In theory you could even choice band it. Yeah it loses damage each turn but it’s banded pure power, shouldn’t be much issue
I think Comfey as a partner for doubles is outstanding, due to Floral Healing + Triage as a curative maneuver and also Draining Kiss as a support >D I have one on my Pokemon Shield with Draining Kiss, Leech Seed, Protect and Floral Healing, pairing with a Garchomp. You can imagine the pain, Viz
wait till they release Dream World Primal Regigigas in Legends Kyurem. Where he also gets the speed of Regieleki. His ability is Crush Grip is One hit KO on first use if the opponent has full health.
