What In The World Is Going On With Andrew Wiggins??? 

Wiggins' and Klay's poor play - is effecting the floor spacing offensively and thus lots of contested jumpers. Wiggins poor defensive play and GP2 and Draymond missing games - are killing the Warriors defense along with a brutal early schedule. Nothing helps shooting and defensive numbers better than easier opponents (Warriors have played just 3 losing teams in first 23 games so far) and a few winning streaks.

Thanks for your optimistic take on Wiggs ("a 3 on the worry scale")! I've been a fan of Wiggs since he was in college, really sad for him while he was with Minnesota. I can't deal with Wiggs. The guy is almost a career 20ppg scorer, an athlete, turned himself into an excellent defender, and was the 2nd best player in the championship season. The guy got paid and now can't make a shot!?!? It's not even a slump, it's about effort and engagement. He doesn't seem locked in.

It seems the 2021-2022 was a lightning in a bottle season for the Warriors. The return of Klay, the break out of Wiggs, Poole and GP2. Steph breaking the all time 3 record. Winning the All Star MVP, first ever Conference Finals MVP, won the chip and Finals MVP. Oh, and Draymond wasn’t getting ejected so frequently.

Not agreeing with this, wiggins has been getting the ball the same as he has in the previous 2 seasons, he gets his same shots in the same spots as he always does he is just ice cold. He is even missing wide open layups at the rim. Looks like he just doesn’t care out there and thats sad part.

Wiggs was one of the 2 or 3 reasons for the Warriors last championship. I think (hope) that that fire will come back.

Three stages of how I processed the optimism for the Dubs on this channel and Hoop Reports: 1. Pre-season: loving the optimism because I wanted to believe and hope was alive. The evidence of overall season success in pre-season performances from the team was plentiful. 2. Season start: needing the optimism after a couple losses and surprisingly repetitive poor performances from Klay and Wiggins. Also, the Draymond five game suspension 🤦 3. Warriors’ current standing (after the NEW Draymond suspension): annoyed by the optimism and incredulous that the season isn’t a complete loss. 😂 But, if I ever want the positive spin I always know where to come, even if the content starts out apparently negative, yet knowing with certainty it’ll end with optimism. 🎉 Btw: I do love this channel’s content and also Hoop Reports. Maybe I am not as optimistic about a Wiggins turnaround because I am commenting 3 weeks after this video came out and still see no progress from Wiggins. I think the bigger problem is he probably did not do enough during the off season to keep in form and is just getting bullied and jostled around out there. He's the definition of what people mean when they call a player "soft." Why would the 2nd best player on a championship team come back from that experience "soft"? This does not make sense he has mental issues.

I completely agree that there's no need to hit the panic button just yet, considering that the team is currently in the experimental phase of player rotations. Wiggins has undergone a notable shift in his role this year, transitioning from driving to the basket to becoming a spot shooter from the corner. It's evident that he's now taking more long twos than threes. Wiggins is undeniably a phenomenal player, and I remain optimistic that they'll collectively figure things out soon. This transitional period also provides an excellent opportunity for younger players to showcase their talents while Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson rediscover their rhythm. It's too early to be concerned; the Warriors have historically had slow starts to the season but ultimately finished strong. In comparison to other teams, we're holding up quite well.

When did you record this? We are more than a quarter of the way into the season. He’s a pro and should be able to just play. He smokes layups and if fouled on the attempt, misses the free throws. He bricks short bunnies that other high level players make all day. He’s a number one overall pick that hasn’t lived up to who he was supposed to be. He looks unenthusiastic, jogs half the time and won’t give any effort for contested low balls. They are in a sunk cost fallacy at the moment with him and Klay.

If players are acting strange and lack motivation, it is coach problem not confronting individual player about lacking expected performance. They are paid millions of $$ to show paying fans every time they are on the floor. Else trade.

What's most weird about it is his defense... Great offense requires more than effort, some amount of inspiration is needed and even the best shooters have slumps. But defense is just good fundamentals (which he demonstrated 2 seasons ago), fitness, effort and concentration. But he does at least appear to be trying... What a weird story...

Well, for the Warriors' sake they better figure something out. 1/3 of the season is done. Draymond is banned and he's a core member of the team since the championship runs. If gone for good or an extended period of time, it'll be brutal because of his missing defense and helping facilitate the offense. The promising future of Poole + Wiggins taking the reigns of the team is now a long gone mirage. The circumstances look awful now, but basketball seasons, like baseball, are long and have a lot of games. I expect them to get a better record to finish the season with, even getting into the playoffs. But I have immense doubts they will get far into the playoffs.

There's nothing wrong with Wiggs that a new uniform wouldn't cure. Trade him while he still has market value; after the All Star weekend, he may not even be worth a 6th round draft pick.
