i'm blown away it took Joe this long to have Jimmy on the show, he's always been enigmatic, well spoken and fascinating to listen to and makes for a great podcast guest.
I wish we were able to experience the experience of those who'd discover Jimmy Carr for the first time on this podcast and later on discovering his jokes in his stand up
Reminded me of old podcasts of Joe's before he started just inviting his friends on and forgetting to engage in intelligent and informative stuff about books, films, literature etc. This felt like pique Joe Rogan RU-vid days
@@hugo9547Here’s my thoughts on Rogan’s show and the guests he picks; It seems to me that he always try’s to get new interesting guests, but after 4000 episodes he has to just fill the spot. He went from an unknown podcaster to THE podcaster, he has to fill the episode, and so his choices sometimes aren’t the best. I do like some of his episodes with his friends though. His podcasts with Duncan Trussel, who besides his show doesn’t have much ground to be there besides being Joe’s good friend, are some of my favorites he’s ever made. I also really enjoy his old Joey Diaz episodes. There’s two sides to Joe’s show. Interesting and educated guests like Brian Cox or Jimmy Carr, and the other side which is his buddies and entertainment/fun people like Joey Diaz or Tom Segura.
Imagine this being your first impression of Jimmy Carr and then you find his comedic content rather than most of us that knew of him the other way around
This is the most relaxed I’ve ever seen Jimmy Carr and I’m here for it. Also great topic of discussion. It’s insane how short sighted those in charge/power have been. It’s like a requirement for the job at this point or something.
Yea but it’s not like oil is some overnight resource…we’re going on 100 years now, which might be a blip in the history of our universe but it’s longer than any of us can grasp physically
@@buddysteele7624 I get what you're saying. At the end of the day it is a finite resource though. Its like all of humanity is sealed in an air tight box and we the people are realizing that we will run out of air so we should look into altering our breathing patterns and finding a way out of the box. But some in power are hyperventilating about money when confronted, so while gulping down air they then guilting us for still being alive to breathe. They tell us to breathe less so they can breathe more. Why should I listen to them when they have no regard for anyone else in the sealed box? It's such a weird conversation to have at the end of the day.
You do realize the richest families have over 500 trillion....govt are void..and still they want nwo...push light sheep move.. run and shove heard will split and run..😮
This is one of the best interviews I have ever seen seriously. This show is just special, I have a complete other vision about Jimmy Carr (that I like as a comic, but he seems to be a lot more than just that). A few parts hit hard and provoke self reflection for sure !
Holy sheet, Jimmy is one of my favourite comedians, and Joe is my go to podcasts, seeing both of their heightened intelligentence/outlooks is truly astonishing. Clever, clever individuals.
@@vincentvega5686eeeh, I've found some of his jokes pretty funny, but i think that his jokes appeal more to specific audience and that audience are primarily stoners .. His comedy requires you to be high to enjoy it
Cobalt has actually been a thing for the entirety of fuel refining since regulations were invented in the 1970s. It's a consumable catalytic reagent, used to take the sulfur out of the fuel and reduce particulate pollution on account of the deathly smog. Been mandatory a long time and they've been using lots of cobalt. The extra demand recently is probably not helping conditions in these mines tho (they were never good)
Fossil fuels won’t be around in 10 years? Really? What’s going to replace it? How will fertilizer that’s used to grow our food be produced? You can’t make it without natural gas. What about plastics, polymers, fabrics, ink, paint, lubricants, glue, medicine, the roads we drive on just to name a few of the millions and millions of products and chemicals that are made directly from oil and gas. The economy is based on fossil fuels. You can’t produce steel without metallurgical coal. We will always need fossil fuels.
I think this is a perfect example of the world. You have 2 men from totally different backgrounds talking about a subject from different perspectives..(Jimmy from the idealistic point of view..Joe from the realist point of view) both are correct... neither point of view will make the slightest bit of difference....we can talk amongst ourselves but at the end of the day we are pretty much powerless
I love the breadth of topics that you address, the depth, intelligence and sensitivity with which you address them and dude it’s nice to hear somebody else on the same page about our “exportation of democracy “” 🤘🤘💯go Joe I’ve been a fan since Newsradio! But what you do now… Good work man. Thanks. I appreciate you so much!
Jimmy Carr the guy so intelligent he belittled anyone who didnt take the poison arm needle. Whys he not joking about all the young people dying now as a result? Evil!!!
Falling for the bullshit that was fed to the world doesn't make him necessarily evil lol. My mother was fooled and took the shot, but also reasoned that if she didnt, she wouldn't be able to live freely and travel abroad etc without it. Because she is 72 years old and wants to live life as best as she can. She didn't automatically become evil. Some people were fooled. They refused to believe it was a hoax and that government would lie.. they were slower than some of us ro catch on. Not EVERYONE who felt strongly about it (however misguided) did so out of malice
Waited a long time to see me fave comedian Jimmy Carr on this show. He's a brilliant comedian very sarcastic & offensive but that's why I like him. Take him out of comedy mode & him talking about things in a normal manner he's actually very well spoken & is very fascinating to listen to although I'm still waiting for him at any second to drop a killer one liner in lmao
Joes correct. I’m an American and I have ZERO faith that this govt would only do the right thing around the world and would rather be the greedy corrupt pricks this govt tends to be. We’re too comfortable and don’t know struggle. Conveniences are nice don’t get me wrong but in an effort to make things easier we became lazier and stupider. We need a new breed of creators who understand the value of what we have and can offer ourselves and the world without simply accepting the shitty things that happen around the world
Joe's right about resources, just because they may be obsolete in 10 years doesn't mean you can't make money hand of fist with it in current conditions. Nobody's going to bypass mountains of profit because it'll maybe die out in 10 years. I own and operate a small local business over the last 15 years, it's slowly dying out due to competition driving prices down, but I'm 39 years old and have made enough that I can probably retire when this market completely runs dry or I could find another market lol This is the entire point for me.
You must be young still? You haven't figured out how wasteful government spending is even for SMALL projects, be VERY advised going forward, that I'm about to dunk like vince carter. Step aside sir.@@benmackay3573
*makes an A-Okay with my hand and a wildly sarcastic wink* booboo this is the entire essence of why I flipped from being a democrat to being a republican and funny enough, historically????? why people traditionally follow this same path. The second you realize how inept your politicians are the less likely you are in a REAL BIG RUSH to give them more of your tax money. But you'll figure it out cutie pie, soon enough.
i wrote a huge essay about nuclear power in physics class and let me tell you. even ignoring the cancer, heart attack and stroke risks of CO2, just pure death toll, nuclear enrrgy is 100x if not more safer than fossil the amount of energy created devided by death count comes no where close to fossil and solar and wind is just not sufficient... never will be as they require specific conditions damn amazing clip. i love this guy
Hell. I bet real money that if we adopt nuclear power planta alot ealier we would have achieve nuclear fusion testing and success alot QUICKER from what we did now.
We’re definitely going to move to nuclear power, it’s just they want the fear mongering so they can tax and squeeze as much milk out of the proverbial cow as they can.
Wouldn't fancy hundreds and hundreds of nuclear power plants. We've seen the damage they can cause. We need some, but in conjunction with other forms of energy, including fossil fuels. We need to also completely ban traditional refrigerant. Pound for pound the biggest polluter
well the reason why oil is so profitable isn't only because it's a source of energy but also it supplies us with tons of other chemicals that are essential to other industries... so nuclear will replace one aspect and we tried recycling plastic and it turned out only certain types of those are recyclable.. so it's a very long way to replace oil
There isn't any current alternative fuel for the diesel powered cargo ships carrying your slave made materials and iPhones to your consumer market. We'll, there is one alternative... but do you really want tens of thousands of nuclear powered cargo ships risking life in the ocean at every second?
@@phreakisop9810he isn’t. Ricky is known. He’s got a good legacy and a good selection of tv shows where he inserts himself into, but when it comes to top billing and drawing attention it’s definitely Jimmy the past 5-10 years. When it comes to hosting, presenting, panel shows, stand up, headlines and big events - Jimmy is the man. Ricky lives in the depths now and is becoming more and more a cult icon rather than mainstream
@CentauriTTJ Well, you have examples of that with the writers/actors strikes already. The same people all aboard the Ansdrew Yang train and his pitch to replace truckers with AI trucking sure don't seem to like the idea of AI writers and actors! 😂
Mimetic Theory is the underlying basis of this discussion. The past never repeats itself and we can’t predict future events. *However* there are consistent overarching patterns which can provide a general manner of predicting outcomes.
We only predict the future through the eyes and themes of our current era. Like back in 50s and 60s the future is pretty much the same theme just with flying cars the style stays pretty similar
Depends on the future. Based on observed patterns I can guarantee there is a high likelihood of being stabbed or shot when confronting an angry black teenager in a hoodie at 4 am.
More like memetic, all human culture evolves as biological species do. Obvious once you see it. Ever notice how languages exist on a family tree just like species of birds
the start of this podcast jimmy was like 'comedy has given us everything, so you gotta think..what can i give back?'. Jimmy's way of giving back was to not pay his taxes. Regardless love him
saying screw taxes is like saying screw people. we might not have as much control as we want over what our taxes go on.. but in general it's a mechanism to distribute wealth. Capitalism for the win. Ya god damn hippy @@idc0459
One of the best guests ever. Can he please go on another podcast and interrupt someone else? This was a delight of a listen, been a fan of his for years!
We need comedians... Not politians. Jimmy is one of the best social commentators the UK has produced. We need more speaking up and giving their opinions more openly
Jimmy is spot on about the cobalt. We abolished slavery but we nowadays outsource it to Africa and South East Africa to get our gadgets (and cheap clothes). I think future generations will be very critical of this.
@@onlyoneofhiskind They get money to invest in business? Are you serious? I think you should do some research into cobalt mines, and living conditions in general, in the Congo.
@@jjw9641 I did and I found that people who are in charge of the excavations are making a lot of money. The same happens in gold and diamond's mining. Usually there's one African tribe in charge and others are doing all the labour.
Current generations are pretty critical of this already but they aren't the ones making it happen (most people get a phone before learning about the slave thing so it's not an intentional thing on their part)
I showed my mom a recorded set from Jimmy and she said he was really funny but hated his laugh. It was fun watching laughs turn into cringes like clockwork 😂
There's Fukushima but people forget about Chernobyl, Ukraine and the close call at 3-mile-island in Pennsylvania, United States. There's also the question about what we do with nuclear waste. Basically, it goes into storage but remains a danger for a very long time. This may not be sustainable.
Listening to Jimmy Carr bust out some fundamental knowledge of Primary Energy makes me want to vote this guy in to replace the octagenarians in office who believe we can “cut back” to net zero (aka famine).
He does not know how the power/money/food/pharma system works. Keep dreaming. Nuclear is good. Too good in fact other than the loss in power over distances.
He talks about these things a bit naively though. It doesn't matter that oil will stop being the primary fuel for vehicles at some point, it is now and that means if you make a fortune out of it you will be in the best spot to take advantage of whatever comes next to replace it. Also he didn't seem to know the difference between nuclear fusion and nuclear fission, the nuclear power plants we have now use fission, the article they pulled up about BP investing in nuclear power was fusion (completely different thing). Fusion is like the holy grail of power sources but we haven't developed the technology far enough to make a functional power plant yet. Fission is basically the same principle as a steam trains engine, you heat up water and the steam turns turbines, except instead of burning coal you use radioactive material, which in fission power plants is a very specific isotope of uranium, an incredibly rare substance. If we changed all of our power production to nuclear fission power plants they have calculated that we would run out of this isotope in quantities to be a viable power source within decades.
@@musicplaylists59 They've been telling us the same outright lies about oil and gas for the last 50 years. It's always just about to run out, and it never does. The supply of oil is near infinite, it's only a question of commerciality. How much will it cost to extract this oil, and how much can I sell it for? Technological innovation is constantly solving that problem. That's why fracking was invented - the cost of oil became so high that it drove a technological revolution.
I can't tell if you're joking or not, but Jimmy Carr is a hilarious comedian. He also hosts a comedy game show called "8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown". He doesn't hold back in his old stand up shows either, he is vulgar and isn't afraid to target minorities for his comedy. He is a good guy, and it seems he is pretty clued up with happenings in the world aswell.
I’ve not spoken to but I have had the pleasure of listening to Jimmy speak in humour and constructive conversation and I’d do it over and over again. Obviously not the same material or subject matter. His unhesitant and articulate verbal skills are an absolute joy.
Never has a clip made me want to watch the full episode. Never knew this Goofy ventriloquist doll looking mf had this much wisdom in him. I love him more now.❤
Nice to hear Jimmy Carr in a real conservation. He he made some valid points. But what most folks tend to forget is petroleum products are used for a lot more than cars. We also have to remember that we need scientists to work to find safe solutions, So we need to keep the lights on, electrify running, transport to and from the lab, heating and AC in the labs and at their homes right now!!!! So they can continue to do their jobs.
Aye. The biggest thing people are unaware of is that agricultural fertiliser comes from the petrochemical industry. Without that ... well ... a death toll from starvation in the billions is not an exaggeration.
New found respect for jimmy carr. He comes across as such an intelligent man in this podcast! I never liked his comedy style ripping on people so this is a great eye opener for me
I watched a couple videos about nuclear waste. It's nothing like it's portrayed, it really seems safe. I guess the major fear is not the waste but the plant getting out of control.
fossil fuels arent what sorry? also did you have any more to say because you left a lot of ellipses there...................................................................... no
Jimmy Carr is pretty smart and hes really observant and he's making some real important points and he's doing so not just for the sake of comedy, but for the sake of humanity.
Ya right straight BS on slavery being Americas original sin he has some balls saying that it was under British rule of the first 150 years of slavery and there’s British colonize on every continent to this day notice he never brought that up
New technology threatens old monopoly That's why humanity isn't operating optimally Shout out Joe for having Jimmy on I find it amazing you have to listen to a coupla comedians to get a sensible converstion
As someone who works in the nuclear manufacturing industry, I can say that there is a significant amount of pollution created in the manufacturing of nuclear components. Our company manufacturs steam generators and components in canada. They're also a major supplier for the US government, manufacturing nuclear components for submarines, as well as power plants down there. I have no idea if they're better than fossil fuel, but there's still an environmental impact to be considered.
