What is a Banquet License

VA ABC Enforcement Division is tasked with investigating the following:
*****Banquet Licensees-those who need a license for a one-day special event
****Retail Licensees--those who sell alcohol from their business
***Industry Licenses--those who manufacture alcohol
If you need a license for a wedding, birthday party, tasting, retirement party, class reunion, etc. then a Banquet License is right for you. Your event must be private, there cannot be any exchange of funds such as cover charge, admission, ticket sales or alcohol sales.
If you have a private gathering on your property a license is likely not needed unless you plan to have a beer truck/wholesaler provide alcohol, in that case a license IS needed.
Check with your venue to determine if a license is needed. If a license is needed we can assist you with the alcohol licensing, compliance and training.
