It doesn't matter who actually shot the guy. It's the CHP's fault for serving a warrant at a public park.

The amount of time it takes for cops to release body cam footage is directly proportional to the amount of police wrongdoing.

Why do so many police departments act like they don't need to answer to the people, their employers?

I’m a retired cop. If you want privacy, turn in your badge and stop accepting money from taxpayers. Otherwise, get used to being recorded and having every second of your on-duty life reviewed by the people you claimm to serve. Even the attorneys for the city are in violation of Title 18 Section 242 of the US Code Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law and should be CRIMINALLY prosecuted for this federal felony. You’re a public servant … either serve in public or find another career.

It doesn't "feel like" they're trying to cover things up, they're literally trying to cover things up. That's the whole point.

See a cop, pull out a camera and record for each other. Avoid using a broken system.

If it showed officers doing something good, the cops themselves would post it within hours. When it’s something bad, they make you sue them to get it.

The police chose to put the public at risk instead of confronting him at his home.

Now THIS is good reporting. The CHP would only be hiding the footage if there is evidence of their reclessness and total disregard for those childrens safety. Keep up the good work!!

This is why you always record police with your own camera. Their videos have a way of getting accidentally deleted.

They don't want to show the body cam footage because they would be sued into oblivion.

Simple fix: 1. All cop cams be uploaded within 72 5:17 hours to a website publicly available. 2. Cops are always "off the clock" when the cam isn't rolling. 3. A covered or muted cam is a felony, without QI. 4. Until the accused has a copy of the bodycam video, there is no case. 5. If any of the above are violated, the case is automatically dismissed, but the victim can still sue the cop.

Lawsuits, child endangerment, child abuse, wrongful death, asult, public endangerment. These cops need to be held accountable.

They cannot and should not be in control of whether or not to release public records, especially body cam footage that the public pays for.

Maybe the cops should have waited until the suspect went to a baseball game.

Hi, I'm 74 and have lived in the greater Sacramento area since 1966. Starting out in Orangevale in the northeast part of Sacramento County with my parents. I bought a new home in Roseville in1992. When I was in my teens, anytime I drove to Roseville I would get pulled over, day or night. Looking back, I realize that my personal conversations with the very aggressive Roseville Police Department was harassment due to my age and type of car I drove. I never received a situation because I was never doing anything wrong. I made a choice to stay away from Rosevillle during those years. My personal experiences taught me through the decades that ALL Law Enforcement are a Brotherhood of THUGS with Badges. They get together at a Scene, Build Up their stories so the all match. The public never gets told the correct truth. It's always a modified version of the Officers who lie and then the MIDIA puts their twist on that story in order to achieve Higher TV Ratings. I have no rating so I can only tell you my opinions based on my experiences. NEVER ACCEPT WHAT LAW ENFORCEMENT TELLS YOU. Have a fantastic day.

I bet you they don’t want to release the footage because it was show that they possibly are the ones that shot. The elderly lady ultimately killing her.. why else wouldn’t they want to release it?… maybe it will show how negligent they were during the situation.

If the suspect shot the guy, they would of released the body cams immediately the fact they are hiding them tells me it was clearly a officer that killed the civilian… but they know that it would hurt them in the incoming lawsuit

Logic dictates that if the criminal shot the victim, the video would be public Also, if the criminal was walking his dogs, he was near his residence. And they knew that. So why didn’t police accost him at his own home?? Instead of where there were children?

Withholding OR muting Body-Worn Camera (BWC) footage IS tampering with evidence.

Our law enforcement agency is a total failure they need to be held accountable for the laws they break should be charged double the fine and the time.

Our government is not transparent so why would they want the police departments to be transparent, especially if you're taking over the country.

The issue is one of transparency and what is legal for the public to know - If an agency doctors videos or leaves things out as a matter of convenience, they're not facing or upholding the law. It's hypocritical, and not lost on the American public. If you want the public to trust you you're going to have to be trustworthy. Trust is not earned in a vacuum.

This is un acceptable. Why could they have taken him on the sidewalk as he left his home? Anywhere but a park full of kids.

Courts will force the small city cops in Roseville to release the video. CHP, the highest paid cops in the state by law, acting exactly the way CHP typically acts. Roseville cops should stick to harassing teens and CHP should stick to giving out speeding tickets.
