The Book of St Cyprian is the most feared book in my country and as a seasoned practitioner of the Occult, I have tested quite a few of the spells in it and THEY WORK, but one needs a certain mindset to stomach them! It seems there is a confusion about the identity of Cyprian, though and two different Cyprians have merged into one but it doesn't matter because the end result is..... errr.... interesting.

Someone who really made me up my grimoire game is Benebell Wen. She's shown a few glimpses of hers and her work is so good that it inspired me to start working on the spookiest, most novel and interesting (but still very usable) grimoires that I could make. I've got a few at this point that deserve to be in horror movies. =)

The first and most influential grimoire I read is The Red Book by C.G. Jung. It was really my starting point in occult studies. I’m a big fan of Crowley, as well as Lon Milo DuQuette and Stephen Skinner. I recently got my hands on vol. 11 & 12 of Skinner’s Ars Notoria, as well as The Book of Abramelin-A New Translation, which I am eager to dive into. Dr. Pucca, you have inspired me so much and your channel rocks! I speak for everybody here when I say this: All of our deepest Thanks to You!

1. The Key of Solomon the King 2. The Secrets of Solomon 3. Grimorium Verum 4. Hygromanteia 5. The Elucidation of Necromancy (Heptameron). These are the most influential (and effective) Grimoires I have utilised in my practice (with coven members). It’s interesting what you mentioned about the Islamic influence … I have used the Picatrix for many years, but also, and more recently, the new (and first English edition) of the Shams Al Maarif. I await the new Critical Edition of the Arabic Picatrix (ghayat Al hakim) by Liana Saif 🥳

@@mohammedali4417 I believe in, and practice, the philosophy of neoplatonism, which both the Christians and the Muslims stole from the ancient, pagan Greek philosophers, and incorporated those philosophies into their own religions (and butchered the original philosophies at the same time once they were corrupted by misogyny). And if you actually read the Shams Al Maarif, it has an is Islamic influence, not an Arabic influence. It actually contains names of angels from the Koran, and different names of God from Islam, as well as the science of letters, which derive directly from mystical aspects of the Arabic alphabet from the Koran. So you’re actually very incorrect, the influence is Islamic, not just “Arabian.” And just for your information, the Sufi orders of Islam are as old as the religion of Islam itself, and there are Sufi orders that are still alive today with thousands and thousands of members… And they practice the theurgic techniques from books like the Shams. That is because the Sufi practitioners are more in touch with the mystical aspect of God, more so than other members of Islam are. Maybe take some time to research “the Brethren of Purity” …. you might learn a thing or two about the origins of the mystical beliefs in Islam , that most fundamentalist modern Islamic regimes have unfortunately rejected, to their own loss. As for me, I will utilise the techniques in the Shams and the Ghayat Al Hakim for the workings of magic, happily and in full consciousness. You see, in my religion, God has a Mother, and her name is Asherah, and in my religion, Magic is a gift given to man by both God, and his Mother, the Great Mother, Asherah.

@@steveelic3833 because you dontt believe in Islam, it appears to you that that the concept of origin and return to the one was 'stolen'. When in actuality the same source revealed that fundamental truth to all populaces that believe in this. Roman and Athenian society were considerably more "misogynistic" than Islam. Granted this may not be from neoplatonism, I don't know what it has to say about gender dynamics. If this powerful occult book that has brought you tangible results is derived from the quran why not believe in the quran itself.( thank you for educating me about this.) Whilst some concepts of sufism do overlap with Islam e.g. remembrance and seclusion, which the prophet (ص) used to do himself. Full-bore sufism goes too far and its an Islamic spin of neo-platonism. My maths teacher back in high-school was a regional leader of a sufi order & he used to conduct retreats in the sahara. During these they attempted to contact "Angels" by chanting incantations. Direct communication with God or angels is impossible as it is what makes one a prophet & the last prophet came and went. So they are conversing with jinn. Its strictly and explicitly forbidden in Islam to try and contact these spirits. We can't as Muslims believe in parts of the book and reject other parts. So we've lost nothing in the grand scheme of things. What you do maybe fun and feel powerful, but you are paying the highest price for these gimmicks. God's mother for a faith system based on 'logic' and human reasoning this opens up a can of dissonance and mental Gymnastics. How can God be the creator when he was gestated by another ? I appreciate your first reply and I hope you'll reply to this.

@@mohammedali4417 In my religion, God is not the creator. The Goddess is the Creatrix. And you probably didn’t realise this, but the one danger that Islam, and another Abrahamic religions have, is that they assume that they know the truth, and that everything they say is correct and that everything that everyone else does is incorrect. With all due respect, but most of the people on this earth are not Islamic (nor do we ever want to be) and most of the people on this earth do not follow that assumption that you are making. I have contacted angels and underworld spirits, Jinn, and Gods and nature spirits, and all the rest of the host of supernatural entities. I do not simplify it to “They are all Jinn”. And another thing that you clearly don’t understand, is that in my religion, we are not just playing games and playing with magic forces. I practice the RELIGION of witchcraft. It’s actually a proper established religion. Its origin is thousands of years more ancient than your religion, and it carries on and is practiced today. It was originally known as the “cult of Isis” in ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece. And it was always religious. Just because Islam calls another religion evil or says that magic is evil, it doesn’t mean that it is. That is YOUR religious bias. And I appreciate it. If you don’t belittle my religion, simplify it to something evil, or something that you don’t understand, when you have not studied it, or practised it, in any way, shape or form. I m, however, have read the Quran and many other scholarly works on Islamic esotericism, and like all religions, the elements to gain from it are useful . All religions contain elements of the truth within them . However, not all religions know everything about the truth. To assume that a religion is the absolute truth, belittles and offends the true nature of the Creator, which will always remain a mystery. The religion of witchcraft always assumes that “all gods are one God, all goddesses are one goddess, and the divine manifests to every individual, in It’s own way, and in it’s own light of truth.” In my opinion, and in the opinion of many magical practitioners, who approach magic and the gods as divine Theurgy, we see the Abrahamic religions as very simplistic, and as the religions for the 5-year olds. And as a final point which you very evidently don’t understand, is that “magic” actually derives from the priesthood of the Zoroastrians, the Magi, and was practiced in ancient Egypt as “Heka”. Heka, and the priesthood of the Magi, all worshipped one creator. The force of magic is the force that the creator uses to create all things, and it flows into all things, from the mind of the creator. If you’re not familiar with the works of neoplatonism, or with the practices of the ancient Egyptians, or the Zoroastrians, then you should study this in detail before making comments about topics of which you really don’t understand in any depth, and which you have a bias towards. One final point. the fundamentalists of Christianity and Islam have spent the last 2000 years trying to destroy the sacred science, art and religion of magic. Your religions have murdered hundreds of thousands of people for practising magic. MURDERED. It’s disgusting, and We, the Magicians and the Priesthood in the of Witchcraft, will NEVER let you do it again. Ever. Have a nice day.

I have always been a practitioner of the "natural magics" that would later tie in with respected science. I can make my own medicines from plants, stones, and fungi. I've made a plate that makes a singular object behind it of differing color indistinguishable from whatever background it is against. I have a song (not particularly enjoyable to people) that I've been paid to play to reliably keep chicken egg production up during and after a natural disaster. I have a box that when I add the right gasses in the right amounts, can be used with a natural catalyst to make new water untouched by any other substance. To say that isn't magic seems silly, but I truly want to believe in the type of magic these grimoirs discuss. What would be your suggestion on the grimoir and or practice that would be most likely to perceivably succeed and solidify my confidence in these practices?

I would love to see more cultural-esoteric exchange between Islamicate and Western neo traditions! I'm fairly certain there are shared roots through historic exchange, such as Dante's writings. The Turkish horror movie Siccing (2014) also displayed something of interest to me with the key charme. I associate the key with Hecate, but realize it could have wider implications, my point is, is this western tradition returning to Islamacate context? I also thought of dua tubes in this presentation when folding symbols was mentioned. There definitely is a sparsely studied and limited relationship that would absolutely be fascinating to see more of. Such a fascinating subject! Thank you for all to do Dr. Puca 🪄✨💖🧿🦇

I'm writing a YA fantasy novel, wherein the Sage has a grimoire and passes the knowledge/book to her apprentice. I'm glad I watched this, since my story takes place roughly in the Medieval era. Therefore, it is NOT a grimoire so much as it is a Book of the Healing Arts and Natural Remedies... with some real, and fantasy, magic thrown in. I'm glad to have the correct terminology.

@@ianriot1578 During slavery, you are correct. Black people were not allowed to learn to read. (Some did so in secret, however.) Also there were free black people who did learn to read and write. Magical practice was likely handed down orally from slave to slave, with only a fragment being written down. But after slavery ended in 1865, learning to read was a huge priority with newly freed black people. The Reconstruction era was characterized by the start of many schools for black people and free black women often came down south to teach in them. I have a friend who has written extensively on the topic of African American magical practice. I will ask her the details if you actually want to know.

My family has a book, a very sparse one, that serves that role, to educate. It does not come from any if the sources mentioned in the video. I am a direct descendant of Zachariah Cloutier and Xante DuPont, who came to New France/Quebec in the 1500's. One look at notable descendants will give you a clue what's going on. Those of us who do practice Magick don't share what we have with random people. We use all the books everyone else does to do our work. I only speak English fluently. Most of our family book/journals are written in French and Latin. Some of the descendants were Catholic Priest or Nuns. From what I remember, it has sigils and prayers. It use to get dragged out once a year ether in Maine or Connecticut. Only around family. It's not a publishable book, more like bits and pieces at random.

Beautiful. You read my thoughts, how could cunning folk read a mystical text when they could not read. That dichotomous Holy Roman Church. But let me be frank, catholicism is simply group/cloistered mysticism. They want their flocks to have experiences, just those experience are driven by the environment and the encouragement of the clergy. From the point of view of magical facilitation it makes no difference if the inspiration comes from the church iconography, or mysterious passages and pictures in text that inspire the mystic imagination. So that's not so dichotomous at all. But the question here is this. If the churches are selecting text and passages that inspire christian mysticism (i.e. the protognistic gospel of John) it probably that their scribes are kniwledgabke in writing things that 'turn people on'. Just as the churches made wine and beer which they could sell, they could write these texts for the elites in society to fund their activities. And that makes sense.

I personally find a lot of Grimoires not very useful. Sometimes I get inspired by their artwork or writing style but not so much their actual content. I really enjoy the tone in the Picatrix for instance and I got some cool ideas from there. However I wouldn't actually use anything directly out of there without heavy editing. A lot of these Grimoires seem to me to have dubious or unknown origins which makes me skeptical of using them for serious things. I could be wrong but my understanding was that in the 19th century there was a little cottage industry making fake books of knowledge ( please correct me if wrong on that ) which makes me nervous to trust any of these sources.

great video but quick correction. The grand grimoire is used to conjure the Lucifuge Rofocale. The Lucifuge is not the devil himself but a spirit that is directly under the devil. also in the grimoire tradition there is no singular devil. the realm of the underworld is ruled by a triumvirate: belzebub, lucifer and satan. also satan cannot be conjured to due to him being too far down in hell.

18:41 If non-Islamic practitioners started incorporating Islamic literary magic into their eclectic practices -- _wouldn't that be cultural appropriation?_ 🤔

Have you watched the video where Dr Puca gives the academic definition of cultural appropriation? I think you will find it informative ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OdkhsL9EwBk.html
