Herkimers are from New York in and around Herkimer County only. There are locations around the world that have similar formations, none comparing with the Herkimer deposit. I’ll be making a future video going much more in depth talking about the location where they form and how they form. This video was only intended to inform about them not being a diamond, something I get asked a lot!
yay I'm so excited! I really enjoyed this video!!! I've been studying about crystals and rocks and been reading a lot of books about them~ hearing it from you would be awesome!
Dude sure would! I would love to have know about this stuff earlier in life but I guess everything happens for a reason, but yea , still would have been cool 😆
I knew you said they were quartz in a previous video but never knew they were a 7.5, either way that anyone would love running their hand through that bowl! So beautiful 😍
dear crystal collector, I really really really really loved this video! The best thing about your other videos is how I also learn some cool gem facts as you pull them out of the ground~ I wouldn't mind seeing more of these educational videos in the future! I absolutely loved it! Also matrix is a prefect name for the puppy! I can't believe I didn't think of that lol
Thanks so much for watching! I am making a brand new playlist, and it’s going to be titled questions about minerals, a question and answer type thing. I’ll be doing maybe one per week or try to, thanks so much for the support🙌💎🙏
The Crystal Collector yay I’m so excited! I’m also looking forward to your summer tour videos as well~ I hope you had safe travels and I look forward to the next video! 👏🏼🙌🏼❤️🔮🧙🏼♀️
I learned about Herkimer diamonds from you in a previous video. I was so excited to see a large display of them at the rock show I just went to. They are so beautiful!! However these were priced as expensive as real diamonds!!
We have some that my dad got while he was traveling on the army. They were found in the sand, so I guess they would be the ones similar to Herkimer. He had them cut like diamonds in Thailand. They are even more beautiful than diamonds in my opinion. It’s like they glow in the dark. I want to eventually maybe get myself an emerald cut one.
Herkimer was kind of a road trip weekend spot when I was a kid in the mid-70s. My parents would drive us from Rochester via the NYS Thruway, East to Herkimer. Always thought they were real diamonds! Funny what kids believe and remember! Great post!
That's actually a 3 Phase Enyydro. There's that big bubble floating in solution and 2 small crystals as well. Solid, liquid and gas makes for a 3 phase inclusion.
2:47 Seesh, I'd really love to have a glass bowl of flawless Herkimer Diamonds like shown here for a center piece on my coffee table. Imagine putting some multi-colored LED lights underneath it. I bet it would refract in all sorts of seemingly random patterns.
Yes I wish I could have afforded to buy that whole bowl that day! 😆 💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎 you have a great idea with the light, that sounds like it will work and look awesome!
Oh my goodness. This is the first time I’ve seen Matrix that young! What a cutie. Thanks for the info about herkimers. Such pretty stones for a name that sounds like a cat hacking a hairball. 😁
That enhydro is amazing!!! Hope you make your way up to canada on your tour! Come to souris, Manitoba and get some quality agate, petrified wood, jasper, epidote, and more from the same pit
Love Ace of Diamonds. I found a very nice water clear 1" herkimer there a few weeks ago. Such a special gem. I heard the Native Americas in the area also used them in their trading.
Only hydro I had was geodes Indiana solid sparked every time struck. And had oil in center. However upside was bubble fire opal like small interior. Love the calcite and multiform interior.
awwwwwwww......Matrix.........I like that!!! : ) Loved my time at the "ace of diamonds" mine.........long long time ago and yes........me and my late husband were always being asked WHY they are called diamonds.......I still have quite a haul of them and plan on finally selling them.........from teenie tiny ones to large ones and matrix with druzzy as well......amazing stuff!!!!
I was wondering about the Herkimers. Thank you for a great lesson, and hi there Matrix, love your new name! There's a California diamond that's only found in one area of the state. They don't seem to have a specific crystal shape. Saw these on Quest for Details.
I would love it if your videos were louder. My volume is all the way up and it still has to be quiet for me to hear. LOVE the Herks! I hunt their cousins in Payson AZ 🥰
I have learned something new again, I didn't realise they are not diamonds though I have a cloudy misshapen one my son gave me from his shop. He sent the message a diamond for a diamond lady bless him. Have you named your puppy yet Bryan? I look forward to the coming episodes. Take care my friend, good luck and happy fossicking Mary-Ellen UK
If you're coming to the rainbow Ridge area of Nevada for Opals give me a few weeks notice so I can take the time off work I'd love to meet you and dig with you
@@TheCrystalCollector I found a few Opals in CA but want to find the source and claim it when I do you are always welcome on my claims, the 1 thing I ask is show me what you find and where on the claim that is it Happy Digging.
I found one on a necklace at a yard sale today! I know the lady had no idea. I didn't tell her, paid $3. I'm trying to find info on value of them. I realize it depends on size and clarity. I can't find a trustworthy site.
@@TheCrystalCollector Excellent! I have been down to Mt. Ida a few times, and have gotten some pretty good crystals. I may be going down again at the beginning of August (I guess I am a glutton for punishment with the heat). I have hit the diamond mine too, but with no luck there.
These videos are giving me inspiration after having none for a long time. I am going to use my tax refund and visit some of these places next year! My mother is concerned about me going by myself, but I don't have anyone to go with. Any ideas?
*_[ofcourse they're not real Diamonds, we all know that there are only four Diamonds! White, yellow, blue and pi- oh no, wait... Only THREE Diamonds, or atleast three Diamonds left... no wait, pink's back! Four, four Diamonds!]_*
