Imma be honest, people who get angry at non purist building techniques, are kinda dumb ngl. But I totally understand not painting or sharping on minifigs, as those look bad lol. Great video tho Ethan
Yeah, and part of the art of Lego is created from the limitations of the building system. Anyone can paint a picture, the challenge and skill comes from representing that picture with a limited tool set.
Nice discussion and topic. It definitely comes down to individual and personal preferences. For instance, I'm not going to manipulate Minifigures with putty to create unique poses within mocs, not a fan of seeing the putty. However, it doesn't stop me from appreciating a great-looking moc. I've seen some "illegal" building techniques and they're fine too. So, it's just up to the individual. I think the majority of people just want to see something cool and don't really care about the "purist" part.
Great video! This is an interesting topic. I am not sure if I am a Lego purist because I have collected Cobi or Kreo, but I tend to not combine them in MOCs. In my opinion lighting is something I would not mind doing, and I would just consider it a modification if I added it in a set.
If someone collects action figures or comics and LEGO are they a LEGO purist? Lol! I agree with what you were saying though, especially about the Kragle that the actual LEGO Group unleashes. Some say they are purists but they are okay with custom prints, stickers, or third party elements. In the end - everybody should just enjoy it the hobby the way they want and not be upset others enjoy it another way - which is what you were saying. I think a purist in the purest since doesn’t actually exists - even if they think they are. Lol
