Thank you!!! I am adding a topstitch to a ruffle collar blouse I am making for my son’s graduation. He’s getting his masters degree in information science, and I am so proud of him! Thanks for being an integral part of my sewing journey. ❤
I noticed that my white blouses had this stitch. I thank you for explaining it. I didn't know if it was a machine or foot stitch. I would call this a techique. Thank you. 😊
I have followed your video on how to reduce the waist band. That's done, now for the top stitching to be completed. Thank you, appreciate your attention to detail.
Thanks for the help. I’m adding the topstitch to the neckline of some flannel pajamas (top, pants and nightgown set) for my mom. It helps me to stay on task. Thanks again 🦋
I'm putting a gold topstitch on the cuffs, collar and chest pocket of my blue work coveralls. A civilized electrician, imagine! Love your channel, but you need more men's projects.
Thank you for such a simple explanation and tutorial! I'm brand new to sewing so trying to find informative videos without overwhelming myself has been a challenge. I do have a question though: is a top stitch like an actual setting you switch on or is it just a method of doing a straight stitch on the right side on the seam allowance? I apologize if that doesn't make sense! I saw another video where someone had switch out their presser foot for a different one to do their top stitch so I'm a little confused
It is not a setting. It is just stitching on top of a seam 1/4 inch away or further. You do not need a special foot or setting. Just a straight stitch on top of the seam. You can buy feet that help you keep things in line but it is not necessary. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching!
Im learning to sew to do the new coquitol skirt pattern by wildflower designs and I didnt know what a top stitch was. Now I have to go figure out why thats diff than a french seam and why
I need to topstitch the waistband of a wool skirt, and I’m quite terrified. It’s also supposed to secure the back of the waistband. I have a basic brother sewing machine so I’m not sure how the foot measurement will be. (I am also Anastasia, by the way!)
What I’m not good at is top stitching when the bobbin thread shows on the right side of the project, like a tote bag top edge for example. Any suggestions?
Take off the back of your sewing machine bed so it has a free arm or just keep moving it around in a circle as you sew. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching.
