Absolutely fkn outrageous!! Even though it makes sense to put on your nice clean dossing gear before you go for breakfast, then get a shower and put your uniform on so it doesn't stink like the cookhouse and you don't end up with snottery egg yolk down the front of your best ironed jumper!!

Why are people so onside with changing 15 times a day?! Breakfast in phys kit, do phys, shower change - I literally can’t see why you’d do it any other way

Very simply, to film them! And I agree with Matthew Lodge's point. Leading from the front, great stuff. But you also want to see others. I care less about people that are just rapid, more about who's grafting. Obviously that doesn't excuse being at the required standard

Wake up when you want, just make sure you're there on time and good to go for whatever the first task is. A more grown up approach

OOD is usually Bn/Coy PT tops - this wasn't the case on that day as the lads had packed all their kit and moved it to Cyprus. This was just before they fell out on relocation leave

It varies mate. Deployments could be a few weeks or a few months. Leave is usually 2-4 weeks, and that happens 2/3 times a year

To prepare psychologically, sit at your computer all day, staring at the screen. For fitness preparation, drink until 0300 then at 0800 run until you are sick and practice the art of masking your pain despite the fact that your lungs and teeth are burning and bile is building up to an explosive vomiting session.

Prepare by learning about how to use a gym and 2-5k runs, simple as that don’t over think any of it and go to training with a fresh and malleable mindset 👍🏼

A 7 minute mile is going to get you put on Biff PT mate!! I don't know if they still do bft's at mile and a half best effort, but 10 mins 30 seconds was the slowest you could run it in and pass. Your 7 minute miles gonna make you one of the slow ones!! Work a bit harder, open up your stride a bit more and you'll see the times come down.

@@djrxp You monster. You should be reported to the RSPCA for having them run 8min miles after brekkie! I could do it when younger but I need a couple of hours for anything more than a couple of bananas to make sense on the regular these days. It's one of those things: I could do it but why? It won't contribute to conditioning and it isn't really unpleasant enough to develop mental robustness. It's not long enough to contribute to endurance. Seems like box ticking. I thought attitudes towards PT had moved on from this sort of stuff. Or is mess a flexible thing now? e.g. coffee and a bun pre-PT and informal access to nutritious stodge post PT. Was also surprised to see people that might be expected to crack out 5 min kms for 5 or 6k to either know that they do not not need water for that (esp in UK) or have a better way to do so than a canteen that affects running form as it is awkward to hold. I mean it's not Mo Farah stuff but I question the point really. Are there published directives on this sort of stuff for modern infantry? Honestly interested and not having a pop for the sake of it.

Not s good as being a chef in the Royal Navy! But, ignoring that, the standard of a chef will change unit morale like nothing else. Good ones are worth their weight in gold ... bad ones are a freaking nightmare.

In fairness, a good point. And we do use treadmills and bikes now and then, it's not always road running. But considering how many of us there are that are doing PT everyday, it would require a lot of equipment that isn't available and is largely impractical.
