What is a zirconia crown and are they stronger than other materials?

@@BURSTOralCareTV when you have bad teeth, it can realy impact you social life and/or your selfesteem, so it's the price to pay.. at least now there is zirconium wich is not only better but cheaper than previous alternatives.

wow! that's a lot of crowns! i recently had 5 done! and my friend told me that emax were more natural looking and i was thinking of getting the 1 week zirconias removed and get emax. i am confused.. i am getting my lower teeth nexf and not sure if i want zirconia or emax.

I have been using zirconia for about 15 years now. It has been the number one used material for crowns for a few years now.

Gold for Molars, zirconia for pre molars due to esthetics.

Zirconia is known to be very strong and resistant to wear and that's why they are often chosen for back teeth and people with heavy bites.. Night guards are made to help protect all teeth and dental work but the key is having a custom fit guard made by your dentist to get the best result. Definitely worth a chat with your dental team

There are quite a few factors that come into play. The average is somewhere around 5-10 years. Your bite, home care habits, diet and medical conditions are all important indicators of risk for problems with existing crowns.

As long as you keep your teeth properly brushed and flossed daily and watch your diet, drink plenty of water, you shouldn't get decay. However, the way they LOOK is something you should discuss with your dentist to see how they can help your other teeth match better and to see how often you need to get your teeth cleaned.

This also would be determined by your dentist who will be able to look at your bite and existing dental work in the area.

PFM is thicker because it has two layers of material. Because of that, it needs more space on your tooth and thus more material needs to be drilled away from your tooth. That's not good. And because PFM has two layers, it's also more fragile at the junction of those layers. The outer shell can fracture and chip away. Technically, gold crowns are still the best - they are durable, they mesh well with our gum tissue, they have antibacterial properties, and they also wear out at a similar rate to your natural teeth, which is great. Zirconia is slightly worse in this regard because it's harder than normal teeth, which might cause the opposite tooth to wear out sooner when they grind against each other. So, if you want the strongest and safest crown, go for gold. If that's too expensive, go for another kind of pure metal crown. If you cannot handle the aesthetics of a metal piece in your mouth, then go for zirconia. Then there's also emax, which looks even more natural. Still, gold is functionally the best.

Under extreme conditions, which do you trust to get you from floirda to califorina and (BACK) a Mercedes or Toyota? Mercede looks great, but no one can compare or question the reliability of a Toyota. For anterior teeth dental BONDING ONLY!!! For a chip or or minor broken tooth. But if the crown is the only option PFM due to esthetics. But for back teeth ZIRCONIA ALL DAY LONG!!!!

Prices will depend on your location, insurance coverage and from practice to practice. It's best to do a google search for dentists in your area to get a better idea. Could be $1k to $2k generally per tooth

Rest assured all of the bacteria and decay will be removed before seating a crown but you can get a cavity under a crown as well too

@@BURSTOralCareTV but how would you know if a new cavity happens. Wouldn’t that lead to serious damage if you are unaware 10,20,30 years

@@umuanzal I get my checks every 6mos, and the Doc never noticed my abscess on the root of an old canal until it was too late. :(

Anytime you change the shape of a tooth, your existing retainers might not fit quite right but make sure you bring this up before you have any dental work. They may need to make a new retainer for you

@@BURSTOralCareTV thank you, I wasn't sure how closely to temp/permanent crowns would match the original tooth's shape and size.

@@barretwaltz6631 fingers crossed that it's almost identical to the original tooth.

@BURSTOralCareTV I took my retainer in when they fit me for my temp. crown and they were able to mold it to fit my retainer. They said the same could be done when the permanent is ready to put in.

the cheap cerec porcelain crown broke and now i have a zirconia lava crown and i trust the dentist. i made sure i used proper diagnosis and terminology so my insurance paid for it.

@@itsaaronlolz Please, start saving up for a dental implant to replace that root canal tooth. And only have a periodontist put it in, i.e., they have a cbct scan unlike regular DDS. They can pin point exact location/depth/width for placement. Also with the cbct scan they can see if you are developing a infection or bone loss around that root canal tooth. Your regular (board certified DDS) xray bitewing or panamric xray scan (WILL NOT SHOW IT). Due to (ALL ROOT CANAL) tooth will develop either bone loss or infection or both over time. Dental implant with a bone graft are predictable, and offer superior longevity.

@@itsaaronlolz Teeth are living organism that has pores, they even flex with in contact with cold or hot drinks or food. When you get a root canal you are putting leaving a none living tooth in your mouth. In no other form of medicine will a dead organ be left in your body, i.e. recepy for disaster.

@@kingvadervlog8280 i also had a fractured front tooth and a dentist told me it would die and turn black. i never told any other dentist about this and none have told me anything about it.
