I had a dark skinned black guy come up to me at work and ask me “what i’m mixed with” didnt even bother to at least ask my name or how my day was. Just interrupts my break. I just told him “i have some native indian and white in me” then he proceeded to call me pretty and say i had “good hair” . Then a Somalian lady at my job asked me if i was Somalian too 😂 Ironically enough my dad looks VERY Somalian.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago when I was going home after school. I share a seat with a mono racial girl on the school bus and on that day I had my hair out. I would say my hair texture is 3c/4a and long enough where it goes down my back. She complimented my hair by saying it was nice, then proceeded to tell me that my hair is different from a black person. I asked her what she meant by that and she said that back in the day I would’ve been a house slave while she’ll be on the fields. I was taken aback by that comment but I wasn’t surprised either because when she talks about herself she basically says she’s ugly, and her hair is a hot mess because she wears “protective” styles in her head for 4-5 months. I also remember one time she asked me how mixed I was I told her I didn’t know, then she proceeded to say that I’m probably like 66% black and I must be mixed with something else. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t engage in conversations with her as often anymore because of the things she’s said to me. Lastly I remember I didn’t go to school one day so the next day when she saw me she told me that our white bus driver mistaken her for me and she said it like she was proud that he thought she was me. When I get older I plan on taking a ancestry test so I can find out how I can identify myself. I have more stories to share with you all on this channel thank you for reading my comment!

I need BP to stop bringing up house and field slaves as if they were there. Slaves went wherever they were told to. And not every LS 'straight haired' slave was related to their current masters who often sold and bought from everywhere. They act like LS slaves got their freedom before they did. Slavery is slavery. @@ExoticalsUnited Yeah it's long overdue though! I was made to think I was ugly and weird-looking growing up (it was not until I entered puberty and boys and men started to love my looks that I began to realize they were just being jealous!) I grew up around dark-skinned black girls (mostly from the Caribbean and in my experience Caribbean blacks are the most colorist/suspicious of light skinned black and mixed people) and they dragged me so hard for my hair color, light skin and freckles. I hated myself growing up. My father (dark skinned black man) came to school and the next day the kids asked me if I had been adopted from a white family. They called me "Casper" and "white girl" and "Annie" and "white bitch." On top of that I was really smart and geeky and had the nerve to enjoy reading, care about my education and want to go to college so I was accused of "acting", sounding and wanting to be white no matter how hard I tried to fit in and be "black" whatever that means. Aww it brings tears to my eyes thinking about it. Did you have similar experiences growing up with dark skinned black girls?

Love Love LOVE this channel. My mom is black African American and my dad is white Italian American and I used to listen to BWE content bc I realized I had a lot of negative similar experiences when dating DS males. But whenever I would give my opinion in these spaces, I'd get disrespected. I was trying to form a sisterhood with some of these women & they had absolutely no sympathy. I was gravitating towards some divestment content bc I would think they'd welcome mixed race women considering they date interracially, but that definitely isn't the case. So I'm glad there are channels and spaces like this that we can relate to.

My dark skin housemate just tried to call me dark skin. I have told her multiple times and showed her pictures that I am light skin. Just because I can tan doesn't make me dark. I am naturally as light as I am in my profile picture. I am so sick of people calling me dark. That is why I use this picture for my profile. It's one of the few pictures I have without a tan. My tan is why everyone always tells me that I dont look mixed. I have a smaller nose and smaller lips than full black west africans. I have lighter skin and 3c hair. Yet they still won't admit that I look mixed.

You should do a video on tyla the girl who came out with the song water, it’s very popular right now. Tyla is mixed race and from South Africa so shes colored. She hasn’t claimed blackness and she goes by being mixed but guess who is trying to put her into the black category and say she represents all black women? Black people. Tyla is very mixed passing because she is mixed or mgm. It just angers me how we finally have a mgm that identifies as such but black Americans specifically are trying to claim her and force her into the black box, and then will get mad that she becomes the preferred “face of black women” instead of a real black woman.

I don't think a lot of black Americans realize that "Coloured" is an actual ethnicity in South Africa and it's not something they considered bad. Trevor Noah considers himself a Coloured person. @@hummingbirdofgumption3263 I think for black people specifically black women, they want mixed/biracial women to be grouped with them so that they can look good through our image while still demanding their image (unambiguous darkskin black women) to be put on the forefront. Then when that doesn’t happen and we are made up to be the more “palatable” black women because of our association with blackness and being mixed race, we are made out to be the bad guys! That’s why I brought up tyla because she literally is saying “I’m not black, I’m Zulu, and Indian!” But they are trying to get her to be the representation of black women, when no she is mixed race mgm!

Monoracial people don’t accept other mono-racial people I’ve been ostracized all my life. I don’t fit in neatly with other black ppl. There is so much nuance. I refer to my hair as wooly or cotton growing it out now after dealing with hormonal changes and eczema I have had to live a solitary existence because I’m not accepted by ppl who share my features. I’m happy to see some promote the mono features you mentioned but I wanted those features to be uplifted without tearing down others. To me competition is a masculine aspect that the dark skin platforms do because it’s all about the male gaze. Now when I listen to Chrissie I hear it. Decentering men is the cure for this problem because truthfully men don’t care as much about our competition they choose who they choose and if your not the one he wants nothing will get him interested men are very straight forward. I just discovered Decentering men and relationships concept and I’m doing what I can to implement it but seriously when you remove that nagging male gaze out the equation life becomes more peaceful. I like to use this acronym now W. I. T. C. H. Woman in total control of herself I’m a woman over 50 I have to find more meaning in my life than the validation of others and patriarchy is cruel to older women regardless of your complexion as you age.

I hear a lot of monoracials say that 25% doesn't count because African Americans are already mixed with everything when it's clearly not true except for colonial white. So, they claim Native, Asian, Euro even if there's no evidence. This is why like to include mixed women like Kimora Lee Simmons, Kamala Harris or any other mixed ethnicity to be a part of their "own" Black ethnicity as if all monoracials are black which somehow includes Korean and South Indian when it benefits them. They like to think they're exotical when they're not then get after actual exoticals for looking exotical. Make it make sense.

Hi pretty girls ! I agree I use to subscribe to panels tik Tok that promoted BLK women's empowerment then when they would go take a sneak peek at my profile pic I could feel the energy shift almost immediately.. then someone would come back to panel and be like " um let me ask you this " and I'd be like uh oh ! 😢 tbh I felt hurt and outcast . But I kept coming back it felt like I was a "pick me " but for the BLK women's empowerment groups . Till I just got tired of kissing A*** and waking on egg shells it felt like I could sit at the table but not have an opinion .now I understand that if I am fetishized by the men of that sane community than I'm going to be hated or disliked from the women in that community. In other words the more that dark skin BLK men desire us the more we ought to enter into these spaces with cation if not at all . Added , I really was about the "community" till I realized the BLK men ( oh but of course ) wanted me to stay loyal to the "community" but always the BLK women would frown , smirk , gaslight , smear campaign and the list goes on ..and I think that the ONLY REASON why I never got into any real life drama with mono racial BLK women is because my great grand mother was a "colorist" and warned me early in life to be careful about who I choose to call my friends . She would literally tell me " are those girls you calling you're friends ( even cousins / family ) do they look like you ? I'd say nervously no. She's then say ", you fool you're gonna learn one day that they don't like you " it took me 40 years to finally get it and the the last few months of being in this community to see my great granny was NOT lying. Technically I’m fully black (because both parents are black) but with slavey and all the mixing that came before me and the Native American heritage in my blood line ,plenty people especially on my dads side are extremely light with non traditional eye colors / features. I remember being told by my UAB Haitian friend that I was not “ Offensively Black “ .. 😮 I have cinnamon, mocha skin with very small lips , small nose, and curly hair. A 65/35 African-European mix …. Usually thought to be part Indian or Indian , sometimes by Indians . I just consider myself Black .

Mixed people who care so much about skin tone and hair texture are crazy. Point blank and your family pushed your colorism on you and didn’t do a good job establishing how great it is to be mixed and didn’t have many mixed friends. And I think that’s y’all’s fault. You met mixed people to open up to and be friends with you decided not to see yourself in them. That’s on you.

Are you considered an exotical if you benefit from ALL of the following:Colourism,Featurism, and Texturism,because I have relatives from my country who benefits from ALL three and can pass as Arab or Hispanic .So are they considered exoticals?

I've noticed this a lot. I identify as Biracial, my mom is white and Hispanic and my dad is Black. I have auburn hair, and in the summer its very red almost like a copper tone and I have a Brown skin tone. As I've gotten older it's been hard just navigating through my identity. I get Black people telling me I'm not Black I'm mixed and I'm too "white washed" and then I have white people either make fun of me because I have interests that are "white" or I get told I'm too ghetto and Black when I speak up against white people about issues with Black communities and Biracial people. I haven't had a Black experience but I've dealt with racism from both sides and it's hard because I love my Black side and I love my white side, but I feel so out of place. Just because I am not a dark skinned Black woman doesn't mean I haven't experienced systematic racism or just general racism, because I have, and I haven't experienced an OUNCE of white privilege. It's genuinely just insane how I'm considered some sort of outcast.

What do you think of the term brown skin? I watched this other RU-vidr video and they claimed that Halle berry and Jada pinkett are brown and not light.. 😂. I was like what…
@ExoticalsUnited
@ExoticalsUnited 9 месяцев назад
That’s exactly why I don’t use the term brown skinned on this channel. Beige is a shade of brown if you look it up . Tan is a shade of brown. Women who are jealous of light skinned privilege are trying to throw all non white passing light skins into “brown skinned”, knowing damn well that the term brown skinned is often used for DARK SKINS who are not that dark (Gabrielle union, brandy, Jennifer Hudson etc) to imply that all those women look exactly the same as Beyoncé is disingenuous. If we were all brown skinned then colorism wouldn’t even be a conversation. Also , if dark brown skin is dark skinned, why is light brown skin not light skinned? 😂
@Booyared1
@Booyared1 9 месяцев назад
@@ExoticalsUnited exactly it’s almost like they are trying to take women that are like the jadas and Halle’s down a notch because they Pedestalize a lighter skin tone. and want to fit in that same “brown skin” phenotype.

My definition of an exotical for this channel is being mixed or looking mixed . If you fit one of those categories and relate to the content the channel is for you. 😉

Wait so if my parents come from Haiti and that's where I get my blood line from am I an exotical?
@ExoticalsUnited
@ExoticalsUnited 10 месяцев назад
Depends on your mixture. Some people from Haiti are unambiguous and others aren’t . Haiti is just the country . But if you have parents/grandparents of other races yes you would be mixed .

I am half Haitian half black American & I have features & a hair texture that shows me as Racially ambiguous ( Almond eyes, light brown eyes, lighter Carmel skin with a narrow nose, I don’t have the stereotypical broad nose, strong jawline & brown or darkskin as most Haitian’s do

@@ExoticalsUnited I think my mom is Cuban even though having Haitian roots somewhere and might have a lot of French in her since some of the French breed with our ancestors at the time during the revolution and stuff. Because of that we came out lighter even though my dad's considered unambiguous however even though we came out lighter I'm the darkest out of my 2 siblings but I'm not like dark more like a brown skin milk chocolate tone. I don't really know if I count but I know my 2 siblings do especially since they've gotten the "your not black" and other phrases used against exoticals. The only thing I've gotten was I don't act black and I'm assuming that they're saying I'm not like the regular black American due to how I'm being raised in a different cultural background
