I don't think we need a microprocessor based boards at each and every appliance. It can be used as a central control unit(the one with android os) which connects and gathers information from all the other mc based boards.

I remember once when my dad gave me money to pay the electricity bill but instead i bought a lottery ticket for a brand new car. When i got home,i explained to my dad what i did and he beat the crap out of me. But the next day,when my dad woke up and opened the door,outside my house was a brand new car. We all cried especially me,because the car was from the electricity company,they were there to cut off the electricity, my dad beat the crap out of me again

You said the Raspberry Pi 3 has support. What about the Odroid C2. Same ARM CPU, just clocked higher and with more RAM.

I believe Android Things is a great way for Android Developers to get into IOT! Their's so many ideas going through my mind what I can create that'll better people's lives. Especially since it's linked up to all Android API's!! I think I'm thinking about using Android things now!

Skynet incomming! Google yet again is not good with naming "things" :) Besides that if you are running hardware that supports a full blown Linux system then ..... oh right Google ok. Not that you can't make and sort of software with any type of functionality with any type of connectivity with any type of programming language on that hardware.... Well congratulation on those extra 1000$ prize tags for anything that will come out of this.
