Hi Doc! I am 66 and have recently began using both (about a week) to avoid having my eyelid scraped again...not a pleasant procedure. I have been trying to do warm moist compresses at least twice daily and thorough washings with soap. It seems to almost clear up, but never quite goes away. My eye Doc said I would not be able to scrub my way out of this problem and he appears to be right. After I had the eye scrape procedure on the lower lid, I cleaned my eyelids and used warm compresses regularly, but the infection reappeared on my upper eyelid - despite the daily cleansing routine. So I have bought the eye wipes and the spray HypoChlor, hoping that the combination will help. Additionally, I am on an antibiotic for a bladder infection ( Cephalexin) 4 days now - maybe all the combinations will help. Though I don't think I will be able to avoid another eyelid scraping...Alas.

You might have oxalates in your eyes. I suffered for years and didn't get any relief until I changed my diet. Most chronic ailments have their source inside the body. Most doctors will just tell you blepharitis can't be cured, only managed. Not true.
@ogun9645
@ogun9645 4 года назад
@@TerriblePerfection what did you changed in your diet ?
@TerriblePerfection
@TerriblePerfection 4 года назад
@@ogun9645 You won't like my answer, but I started to eliminate possible problem foods. I had already eliminated sugar, but then I gave up wheat and dairy. When I read that histamines and oxalates can be problematic, I eliminated those too. What really jump-started the healing was a three-day fast, followed by the strict new diet. What keeps me going is the result: relief for the first time in years. I now eat some goat and sheep milk products without a problem. I think you have to find your own solution, and I don't discuss it with other people, who find it extreme and implausible. Trust your body! Good luck.

I've been getting chronic blepharitis for the past three years on and off. It's all about having a hygiene routine to keep your eyelids clean. I use the ocusoft cleansers morning and night, and use the heat pad occasionally. I also use thera tears for my dry eyes once a day as well.

@lynettepalecek3141

@Stateless. You're very lucky that it's blepharitis and not Sjogren's Syndrome. It's a lot harder to have the immune system attacking the tear glands 100% of the time with no relief than it would be to have blepharitis. The worst part for me was when I was misdiagnosed as having blepharitis instead of Sjogren's Syndrome. I ended up in the ER in excruciating pain from the ointment that's used for blepharitis!! I use Restasis drops every day. The only brand of artificial tears that I can use is Thera Tears, but I have to use the vials- not the bottle. If I accidentally put my finger on the tip of the bottle, I can easily get an infection. That did happen to me. That was a nightmare because my eyes DON'T tear when I get anything foreign in them. It took a month for my eyes to get better. I had to have other people lead me around because it was too painful for me to open my eyes. NO ONE can possibly know what I'm going through every day with my immune system attacking my tear glands 100% of the time unless they go through it themselves.

Thank you for making these videos. In my case this started with me about 2 years ago. I'm 68 years old never had a sty. I went to an eye doc for update on my glasses . He told me I had glaucoma and sent me to a specialist. This doc put me on glaucoma drops and they turned my eyes red and burned my eyes also. I went back several times but he said to just use Lumify eye drops. Which since then I found out from my eye surgeon (for cataracts ) that the actually do more harm in drying my eyes! Ugh! So I've been on a regiment of eye care for over a year now. I use the eye wipes and eye drops. Also my eye surgeon said I don't have glaucoma and took me off the drops! It's been a nightmare. I get a sty at least once a month sometimes twice. So I will try using a warm compress daily after this sty heals. I use one 4 times a day on the sty. I will also get the hypochlorous spray. How often do you recommend using it after the sty heals? Again thank you for your help.

Thank you for this it especially helped to see the actual lid cleaning being done & I wouldn't have thought to clean eye brow! I just found out I have had this for so long that it caused permanent damage to my cornea in both eyes - luckily not in field of vision but still not great. So frustrating that my previous two eye doctors just said I had dry eyes & didn't catch this for years. Went to a new eye Dr this week at a different center & he finally diagnosed me. Is likely demodex issue as well. My heat mask & lid wipes are out for delivery today. :)

I really appreciate these videos! I've had blepharitis for over two years, and it took me awhile to get a handle on it. Advice from others suffering from it has been my best defense. My new optometrist has been helpful in affirming my methods to be working. An allergy doc gave me the idea of using John Paul Mitchell shampoo on my lids when I shampoo in the shower. It is refreshing, but must be careful not to get inside the eye! I also use Ocusoft lid scrub Plus which is a leave-on formula wipe in the evenings. When I'm having a flareup, I also use cliradex eye wipes, which also comes in a foaming cleanser form. Both are effective for me. It is all expensive, which is sad. Since warm eye compresses have also helped when I see swelling begin, I'll be getting one of the microwave eye masks. I'm also going to try the hypochlorus spray that this doctor suggests. Why did I not think to seek info here first? This eye condition is a tough one to manage, so thought I'd toss my two cents into this feed. Good luck, everyone!

@DoctorEyeHealth
@DoctorEyeHealth 3 года назад
Very Interesting!!! Thyroid conditions are related to dry eye, primarily it can be due to proptosis and exposure issues, but there is also an issue where the autoimmune cells attack the lacrimal gland and cause inflammation, which can shut down the tear production.

I have Blepharitis in both eyes and have practiced conventional methods such as warm compress, eyelid scrubs, anti-inflammatory medication, and Avenova. All have worked well but then I tried colloidal silver by 'sovereign' and it has worked better than anything else. I spray it directly on my eyelids every morning and evening and I let it air-dry. That's it. No eyelash debris buildup or itchiness or flare-ups. Colloidal Silver has been incredible. I even wonder if it may cure it if I spray my eyes more often...anyways, I highly recommend!

I had " basal carcinoma " just below my lower lid, growths on my eyelids and between my lashes. I had to sign a document releasing my doctor of liability because I chose not to have Mohs surgery. I washed my lids with hydrogen peroxide, and my "basal cell carcinoma " disappeared. I also had arthritis so bad in my fingers and toes I could no longer do daily chores. I continued to wash my eyelids with hydrogen peroxide, and I accidentally got it in my eyes, I felt my sinuses draining and as they drained my arthritis went away. This sounds crazy but I am certain that my immune system was causing an autoimmune arthritis.

Gald to see this is a real thing, lol - I went to the opthamologist inside Costco last weekend and the Dr. prescribed the ocusoft lid wipes, because i had a lot of oil and blockage in my whatchamacallits (lol) I didn't even tell her (because I forgot) that I had been having lots of gross snot-like mucus in my eyelashes the last few weeks. I got the wipes today ($9 on amazon for a pack of disposable wipes) and wiped and rinsed with em this morning, and for the first time in several weeks - i don't have to pull globs from my eyelashes, so damn - those really work! i never knew such a niche product existed or that i'd ever actually need such a thing. but if you have these issues GO GET EM. they actually sell em at some drug stores, but amazon or wherever online is easy too.

What did you do to cure this?

An eye specialist told me I have blepharitis and a chalazion is in the right eye... so he injected both lid edges with small needles and I chalazion has NOT gone away. No particular pain and only my right eye is affected. But that is the dominant eye very clearly... The hot compresses from a microwave oven have not gone away after a few months, so I will visit the eye specialist again and it may be that warm compresses are needed on a certain period and with a certain frequency. Oily skin, but not acne at my age... (early 70s). I shampoo with baby shampoo and cleanse the eyelids well.
