Using the warm compresses 2x a day was vital for me! After the first night of 15 min with a moist heat on my eyes, I woke up the next morning and the swelling had gone down so much! My eyes feel so much better and they are no longer red. It is hard to commit to this program but I consider it "me" time. I'm worth 15-20 min 2x a day (if counting time for massage and cleaning my lashline). It makes me even look younger! Thank you for all of this information put in such an easy to understand way.

Blepheritis was extremely disruptive to my life since 6\2020. A wrong diagnosis of keratosis of the eyelid did not helo. Now I know what it is I started on tea tree oil wipes a heat pack and antibiotic eye drops as I had a corneal abrasion from trying to remove a contact that was actually scratchiness caused by dry eyes. In addition with puss like discharge I couldn't get anyone to fit me for eyeglasses. The pain is immense and I also keep having to cancel social events. I always believe knowledge is power in overcoming a situation. Thank you for your video

Thanks Doc. My 2.5year old has it and due to her irritatedness with the eye matter its difficult to do the cleaning program twice a day, but we manage to do it once a day and hopeful to do it twice in coming months.

Thanks for the information! I’ve been suffering from what I (and my eye doctor) think is blepharitis for a few weeks now, but it’s only been around my right eye… the other is totally normal. After this video I’m less confident that the diagnosis is correct even though all my symptoms line up. I’ve been trying to manage the symptoms but getting mixed results. I have OCusoft eye lid scrubs that I use twice a day and I use a soft paper towel soaked in hot water as a compress. Where exactly are the eyelid margins? Is that the surface where the eyelids meet?

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Usually blepharitis is a bilateral condition. The eyelid margin in terms of where you need to be cleaning from is the point where the lashes come out of the lid.

Tea tree oil eyelid wipes or similar. Ask at health stores or optometry practices.

Thank you for a fantastic video with all the specifics. I was told I had Blepharitis, but I do not have the crusty condition along the eyelashes. I have incredibly swollen, red and itchy/sore eyelids. I was told to use cortisone cream diluted with aqueous cream, but it seems to be exacerbating the symptoms. Please help me Doc.

Dear Catherine, sorry to hear about your troubles. In some patients, if appropriate, antibiotics can be given to help with lid margin disease. Please see your eye doctor.

Thank you for this video. I have been researching my condition since late August 2021. I had had intermittent symptoms for a few years now but did not connect the occasional crustiness and red eyelid margins with anything other than allergies or lack of sleep. This mebomian blepharitis came on suddenly and very quickly became a daily problem. I've used most of the protocols you recommend but still it's bad some days and much worse other days. I get light sensitivity and when I wake my eyes literally spasm and don't want to open until I find a darkened place to open them. Eyesight seems to have worsened. It wasn't until I read about the connection with rosacea and different types of dermatitis that I feel I've recognized the origin of this disease for me, as I have been diagnosed with rosacea many years ago and recently had a flare up in early 2021. I also am having a flair of eczema or dermatitis on my scalp and inside my ear so I think these conditions are making my blepharitis flare as well. I got a heated mask but with rosacea I'm afraid to use it regularly or very hot as it could trigger rosacea. I feel like I have a lot of knowledge about my condition now but how to put a treatment plan together when the doctor only allows a 15 minute appointment in a few days to discuss my diagnosis. I plan to support my body with anti-bacterial treatment for my eczema. Super hygiene for the eyes as well as new supplements such as fish oil and lutein and zeanthin. I am curious about possible antibiotic use to get my system stable from rosacea so the other treatments work better. Thank you again. This is scary when you don't have help with it. Videos and research are the only things that keeps me going.

How can you heat the compress if you don't have a microwave?
@dreyeforyou
@dreyeforyou Год назад
Good question. Some people boil water with a kettle and then use cotton balls or a towel soaked in this water to apply a hot compress. Obviously ensure that it is not too hot before applying to your skin.

Is there any reason this treatment is contraindicated after cataract surgery?
@dreyeforyou
@dreyeforyou 2 года назад
Not really. However the idea would be to clear this issue pre operatively as having blepharitis is a risk factor for a potential serious eye infection post cataract surgery.
