I first learned about it while learning country swing and two step on a Ranch in Temecula California. It was being taught as something to mix into country swing. I'm pretty good with the basic moves

Since when zouk is Brazilian? Are people just inventing their our dance styles and attributing countries on it? Please guys do some research forró e pagode tem nada a ver com zouk. Zouk comes from Portuguese colonies yes especially Cabo Verde but not Brasil. Although this video is beautiful because goes beyond and bring more sensuality and flavor to it

Zouk is an AfroCaribbean music genre and dance style, even if the video features a lot of white people. It’s firstly an AfroCaribbean dance!

such an archaic point of view. Zouk can be danced at almost any music and in at a lot of styles like this video said. I mean the modern zouk, the brazilian zouk...the zouk that world wide known

@@incredibleBY I think you missed the point. Zouk is indeed from the french Caribbean, its a music genre and a dance. On this video they dance Brazilian Zouk which is different. Brazilian zouk is originally Lambada danced on Zouk music. Like you said Brazilian zouk is nowadays danced on any kind of Music. Calling Brazilian Zouk just "Zouk" is wrong and it's cultural appropriation in my opinion.

@@roxyiconoclast hello, this is zouk ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DwcTE2GZEhI.html You'll see it as nothing in common with Brazilian zouk. The roots of Brazilian zouk is lambada. They used zouk in the name because they were dancing on zouk music.

Zouk comes from Caribbean from generations... particularly french Caribbean and have nothing to do with that...it is completely different so you could have call your danse with a different name instead of appropriate yourself Zouk while it has nothing in commun with REAL zouk

É chamado de zouk brasileiro, porque os passos do zouk europeu foram misturados com danças africanas aqui no brasil. Mas isso era usado muito no maxixe.

True but it's exactly like for Cuban salsa. Try to see the Cuban salsa that they dance in Cuba and it is totally different from what is studied in Western salsa schools. Unbelievably, the original one is much simpler.

People just want to make business with whatever they like and think it's different. I'm just surprised even with the name 😂 Brazilian Zouk?? I think we need more brasilians checking this out omg
