What is College Accreditation & Why Does It Matter

So, Are ivy league universities all accredited and all there courses ?

Correct me if I'm wrong the people that currently run these accreditation bureaus are the incumbent colleges and universities. That is to say, it is a monopoly that prevents competition in the market.

If I get into a college that is accredited, does it mean that I will be able to further my studies at a university?

I was already familiar with accreditation, but soooo many people are not. This video should be mandatory viewing for anyone who wants to apply to a college or university.
