My 2010 Camry 2.5L i4. It idles 650RPM. USA car. It's got 188,648 miles. Runs excellent. I did a bunch of maintenance. New oem Aisen water pump. Changed the spark plugs, all 4 coil packs. Oil change, coolant flush, brake fluid change also. It should run for another 150K no problems with just a set of new plugs again, clean K&N air filter, and tires when they bald.
I have Etios Liva. I accidentally drained my battery completely. I got the same problem. Too low rpm when I recharged the battery. This is the answer I was looking for. Thank you brother.
Toyota recommends 700-800 fully warmed up all mine are about 1200 cold and drop to 740-750 warm without any ac or lights on. May rise a bit higher if fans, ac and lights on to keep up alternator output. That line below 1000rpm is 800 do his var right at 750 lile should be. If your car is putting out 13.8-14.2v at battey at idle that is the main concern. Should do this with all lights, fans (radiator and fron and rear air con) off and then check again with it all on and in gear with foot on brake so you know battery will not die in traffic in hot weather at night
Peter Finn the Toyota genius! After replacing motor mounts (OEM) and a bad AC idler pulley I can’t figure out why the car idles at 650 rpm in drive smoothly but as soon as you turn AC on and it’s bumped to 725-750 it vibrates enough that you see the wheel buzzing a bit. Also feel it a little in the doors. Any idea why? I’d much rather not throw parts at the car. IAC is clean and functioning well as is everything else in the car. 1997 Corolla 7AFE 4speed auto. Thanks, -David
Your AC compressor is already a little old and has the additional friction of old age. I had the same problem Camry 2.4 vvt-i. The engine also vibrated when the AC was on. I replaced the new AC pump and the problem disappeared. 😀
hye peter..can i ask u?why my toyoya ae92 liftback have idle timing?sometime when i on the aircond rpm drop and not stable the engine will off..please help me🙏
I have a 2002 solara I change the battery !? I don’t know if did it right at first my rpm idle ran low I drove the car for few minutes then after a while my rpm is going up then I found out there where steps u do when u change the battery I did the steps now my rpm is Little over 1000 rpm ? Should I disconnect the battery and through the steps properly ????
Hello and thank you for your question, you have done the right thing Toyota's engine computer adjusts the idle speed automatically you just have to drive about 1000 miles at different speeds sometimes slow and sometimes high-speed Give and Highway speed and then the idle will automatically come to about 900 rpm it will take about a week to train engine
I have Toyota corolla 2010.its engine vibration problem at idle. the RPM is stable at 700. and engine is no misfire at all. following things have been checked. but no success. 1- cleaned Throttle body. 2- checked spark plugs and coils. 3- aif filter is clean. No vacuum leak found. 4- MAF sensor is working fine. 5- spark plugs were inspected , not blakish , no oil on them. 6- car mileage is good, good pick up. 7- fuel pump and filter are found OK. 8- Engine mounts are also fine. kindly advise any solution how to fix?
Hello! 2001 Camry 188k. In park rpm goes back and forth from 1000 - 2500. Turn on ac while in park Rpm constant at 1500. Tried resetting idle speed, when driving don't need to use gas pedal to keep a steady speed. Replaced downstream oxygen sensor, no check engine light, problem started after removing a bunch of leaves and dead critters from air filter compartment. Any help greatly appreciated!
Good day, thanks for the video.I want to know the best idle because am using Toyota corolla 2004 europe model. If i start the vehicle the idle speed goes to 2000 and later drops to 1500-1700.Is it good ordo i need to adjust it and i want to know hope it not consuming fuel.
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor you're talking about the idle speed right? or the check engine? if it's the idle speed, how would you do it with a OBD scanner?
Hi Peter, Thanks for the upload. Quick question, my corolla h2 1.8e 2006 model has rpm 1.2 to 1.3 when i start it up in the morning. It settles down to 900 after 5 10 mins.. what could be the possibile problem with it?
My idle rpm is showing just over 0. I have avensis 2014 diesel. This is because mechanic removed the speedometer and when he put it back the idle was just over 0 as before it was just under 1 can you please tell me how i can change idle back to just under 1 plz
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor no- that is a sign of a lean or rich values.. Causes misfire & harsh shifting.. The Idle air control system isn't reading correctly. 900 rpm is normal for Toyota , most vehicles- I own a 90' Volvo ever do maintenance on a Volvo? They need perfect values or they go to shit fast! Pcv fuel injection turbos egr all no fun but all part of maintenance ! If you are like me & you have owned your cars ling periods & know when something is off. Just like this gentlemen here.
hello thanks for the video. what does it mean if my idle speed is 2000? It's not particularly cold or hot ( like 70 degrees out) and I have a 2008 Toyota Corolla with 129,000 miles on it. It also vibrates a little when I brake ( I feel it through the bottom, like pedals) and when I reverse.
Hi. Very good question. You have new Camry with automatic. The automatic changes bigger gear. That is the reason why your cars rpm goes from the number one to number 2.
Hi, my avensis t25 2009 2.0 d4d manual after battery disconnect is running very rough. Done idle reset. Could nearly get till home, engine stalling,no power. In morning on cold start was fine for about 10 mins of driving. After work same issue. Swithing gears and engine even stops running.im trying accelerate but engine is like - pulling good then like stopping, then agin fine and interval is about 3 secons increasing speed then for 3 seconds no power( like im running out of fuel. Then again fine then stopping. Maybe i havent done idle reset or relearn properly. Before i disconected battery for about an hour everything was absolutely fine. HEEELP PLEASE GUYS!!
Hello Peter. After I changed the battery, the idle speed dropped very low and the car shakes and does not return to normal. Is there a way to relearn the idle speed? I've already tried to push the acceleration to a maximum of several times, but it's still unstable, almost stopping the engine. (Avensis T25 1AZ-FSE, 2005)
Hello @@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor, Thank you for your answer. I would like to think I've solved the problem in other way. After more research in internet, I cleaned the throttle flap as far as I could, anyway, I'm just an amateur :D . After that operation, the idle speed has returned to normal. At least until now everything is fine :) Thank you for the impressive work you share here, everything is extremely useful.
this video is ok , but my toyota sienna 2002 model idles at 1500 and when i decelerate, the engine begins to hum and the rpm will automatically jump to about 2000 rpm, what do i do a bout it
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor thanks, but before i do the changing, i want to share my experience with you. when my idle goes too high, i will remove the IAC plug, the rpm will go down, why is it like that?
ATG, Scotty Kilmer & I suggest to buy Bluedriver OBD2, by ATG. Get it and then load up a free app on Android cellphone or tablet This will save you money and it has tachmeter gauge display and many other to help you to troubleshoot. If you are lost or after buying it & need help, reply here with your email address.
But you know what he meant, peter has the best toyota fix videos on youtube, even though his english is not perfect, its pretty good though, i quite enjoy listening to some of his words lol
