Scientists have conducted a study that may show many people around the world have the DNA of an ancient human ancestor known as the Denisovans. CBS News science and futurist contributor Michio Kaku joins CBSN to explain.

In brief, our evolution was helped along by genetic engineers with far more experience and knowledge than I. Watson (of Watson & Crick) was canceled for talking about the implications of this. Uni of Florida at Gainesville has some good research. Emory Uni too.
A recent study in 2021 analyzing archaic ancestry in 118 Philippine ethnic groups discovered an independent admixture event into Philippine Negritos from Denisovans. The Ayta Magbukon in particular were found to possess the highest level of Denisovan ancestry in the world, with ~30%-40% more than even that found in Aboriginal Australians and Papuans (Australo-Papuan or Australo-Melanesians), suggesting that distinct Islander Denisovan populations existed in the Philippines which admixed with modern humans after their arrival.
I am mixed of Neanderthal and Denisovan. My ggfather was half Tibetan/Chinese/Japanese from Guangzhou and came to the states during the gold rush. He married a Caddo/Mexican living in Texas.
I like Michio Kaku and he always radiates positive energy. But - why is a theoretical physicist specializing in string theory talking about Denisovan DNA? I've been noticing it lately in the context of Musk - but it's not just about him. Being a genius in some field does not automatically make you a universal genius in all fields. For example, Musk and his sudden penchant for geopolitics drives me crazy because he says utterly stupid things. "Scientist" is not a universal guarantee of universal expertise. While in Musk's case I have no problem identifying what he says is wrong, I know about nothing about Denisovan DNA, so if he said something stupid, there's a high probability I won't detect it. The problem is that people hold such figures in a certain esteem and so they listen to them, even though their knowledge in the field is at best that of a first year college student.
Yes one of 4 people there have blond hair. Genetically it is a different blond than the europeans have. Possibly from the denisova but an independent mutation is also possible.
But do they have neanderthal dna?I think they all traveled so far by sea that dna is the only way to tell.Denisovans too.There is also Java man did they have red hair?Now we can find out because dna testing has improoved.
@@marshaboody9069 Yes, they have about the same amount of Neanderthal that all Europeans, Asians and Australians have. All asians have an extra 0.2% of denisova, Some of the melanesian and other darker skinned south east asians have more denisova DNA. On NewGuinea up to 6% Denisova. The dark skinned people on the Andaman Islands have no Denisova but Neanderthal as all the other people out of africa. Many tibetan on the himalayan plateau have a bit more Denisova than the average asian and they got a special mutation from them that is beneficial for living in high areas.
@@marshaboody9069 I think the remaines of the Java people are too old. Some neanderthals had a kind of red hair that is not existing any more. The most things we identified being from the neanderthals is some skin structure (not the colour) some with the immune system, some fat digesting ability, diabetes type 2 (maybe an adaptation to starving), some more. There will be some more to be identified.
Red hair in humans come from humans at least from the info i can find about it. They believed it came from neanderthals but this was proven false. I think technically it is possible to be born with red hair in Africa as well. But it is less advantageous so it got more common in northern climates and less so in the south.
So now we find that all humans are NOT the same. That blacks are really different than whites, that yellows and whites have more in common that blacks and yellow, but whites and yellows are different.
Incorrect... Although people of European and Asian decent both have interbred with Neanderthals, Europeans are closer genetically to Africans than they are to Asians.
He is saying "yellows and whites have more in common..." and i assume he meant than instead of "that blacks and yellow... So i'm assuming he means people of European decent have more in common with people of East Asian decent than Europeans do with Africans which is a total fallacy.
@@mweskamppp Some Native Americans have about a 2:1 ratio of Denisovan to Neanderthal mix. I am part Seneca and Mohawk (maybe about 1/8th Iroquois), and have a ratio of 2.8%:1.5%.
Well, we only mixed with Neanderthals and Denisovans outside Africa due to the shortage of sapien women outside Africa. There is no evidence to support this. This is just my personal theory.
I want everyone to recognize the academic snobbery going on here. Michu "we thought there was only neanderthal". In fact, only Westerners thought there were only neanderthals. People from other countries, talk all about the various 'other hominids'. It's well known in India. Forbidden Archaeology has been out for two decades, and is a massive tome covering the topic, stating over and over that modern humans mixed and lived alongside many other hominids. Trigonometry, Astronomy, Map making, medicine, anthropology, the list goes on and on of the sciences that were rediscovered and claimed by 'the west'. The Greeks did not invent the theorems the west claims that they did. They only rediscovered it. Even when the West is told by the indigenous people that they themselves did not construct the megaliths that the west claims they did, they are ignored. Complete arrogance! Not to mention the extreme ignorance, not even able to conceive that the 'evidence' leading to their conclusions was left by a survivor group, vagrants. Well we are so glad that your knowledge has finally caught up with the rest of the world. Meanwhile, I personally am going to stick with the real scientists of the world, they are much more advanced and interesting. And their minds are open to possibilities, which is the real mark of a scientist, the ability to discover.
Not really, he's talking about the fact that scientists only thought there was interaction and some degree of interbreeding between these ancient species of hominids. Of course everyone knew since the dawn of evolutionary science that there were many species fo humanoid and hominoid species interacting with each other in the distant past, just not to the degree and extent that we know of today and even moreso with crossbreeding and mating relationship between these human specimens.
@@FreddieHg37 Not really. In my lifetime the west has made a 180 degree reversal on their ideas concerning neanderthals, but only because real scientists are now able to show their work.

ANGPORUK He is saying that interbreeding occured, but that only accounts for a very small fraction of the DNA. That means that every human in the world is almost entirely related to the humans that originally left Africa. I have a tiny amount of neanderthal DNA, but the rest is all from ancestors who originated in Africa.

How many human branches are out there? He doesn't know, so before you had 98% African dna against 2% Neanderthal, what about now? Where do you going to take to fit in the Denisovans?

*facepalm* This doesn't prove anything in the bible is literal human history. There could and is likely more hominins we haven't discovered outside the Denisovans and Neanderthals. There could have even been hominins that existed that left no trace and we'll never know about them.

i cant phantom how you think to get to that opinion. I find it absolutely fantastic, that ancient Archaic man mingled with each other and possibly had families togheater. It could be because of stealing females, taking over territory/shelter and females, fostering or taking in a stranger that lost its group. No matter the cause fascinating indeed!

Lol we both apes(todays) and humans evolved from same ancestor i.e dryopithecus and thie evolutionary path diverted to a new path a long long ago, and evolution isn't a sudden process it's works over time the small changes.
