Thanks for sharing. I the RU-vidrs I watch mention a lot that they use DK yarn and I love how their work turn out. I am planning on buying some DK yarn.

Enjoy! It's a good medium yarn. 🧶

Here’s me thinking that I had to double the knitting yarn up with DK yarn lol 😂, thanks for the tutorial & I’m so glad I can use a size 4 needle 👍

It's even easier to get confused as there's a technique that knits two layers of fabric at once, but that's another (yarn) ball game for a whole other day! LOL 😂 Glad the video was helpful... yes 4mm needles (make sure it's not just a number on the needles, and that it's actually 4 'mm', as the different classifications for needle sizes are, again, a topic for another episode!) happy knitting!

Ahhh, this explains why I have been struggling a little more with my second knitting project. I had gotten a set of small yarn balls that are DK, and it feels a lot different than the medium weight yarn. Learning a lot from your channel!

So glad this was helpful. It can be a shock how much the yarn can make a difference - been there, done that! 😉

Thank you so much for sharing this information. In the doll scarf directions for a project I'm starting, it asks for DK yarn and I was uncertain of what that was. Your concise yet detailed summary is perfection!

No, sorry. I don't make jumper patterns. Hope you find what you need, the knitters in yarn stores are usually very supportive if you find one close to you. Happy knitting 🧶

Hannah I have a couple of old patterns which require double double wool. Which I do remember, but can't find anywhere. What could I use instead? Chunky seems too thick for the needle sizes required on the pattern. Would Aran be a good choice? Too fine? Thank you.
@KnitWithHannah

I’ve not come across double double wool, it’s probably an old or vintage term. The needle size might give you a clue, 4mm is used for DK 6.5 for chunky. 7mm+ for auperchunky. We’re talking gauge squares and testing yarn on the weekly videos at the moment they may give you more ideas. Happy knitting 🧶

I a a new knitter- I looked at lots of patters ( hats ‘ gloves ) and in most the gauge is 22/24/28 - per 10 cm. I get 34 using size 4 as recommended on the label ... what should I do.?
@KnitWithHannah
@KnitWithHannah 3 года назад
The first thing that stands out is that you say 'size 4' this is different to '4mm' which is usually suggested for that kind of gauge yarn. Are you using 4mm needles? that might be all yu need to do to rectify the problem. Otherwise take a look at this video about tight knitting: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Y2E2xxVZaOw.html The next step is to then change the needle size to a larger one. Test the gauge with 4.5mm instead.

Have u tips n patterns for using dk for crochet? Tyvm
@KnitWithHannah
@KnitWithHannah 3 года назад
As I'm not a crocheter so much, I'd suggest looking for a crochet channel. But you can bet so many of the items I mentioned today will be ideal made up with crochet. As I said in the video - look around the home and see what there is that's already made with cotton, and a lot of it will be ideal for making by hand. Happy yarning! 🧶

Hannah I am a novice. Can I knit a scarf with DK 100g yarn and 4mm needles?
@KnitWithHannah
@KnitWithHannah 9 месяцев назад
Unless you’d like a thinner scarf, you’ll likely need 150g-200g for a DK scarf. See if you can find a beginner pattern, to give you an idea.

The scarf that never was meant to be, has now been unravelled. Like you say the yarn is thin. So I will endeavour to knit something smaller like a cover for my Nokia mobile. @@KnitWithHannah

Yes, thinner yarns, such as DK are used for baby projects. There will always be exceptions of course. But you'll find most patterns suggesting DK or thinner. happy knitting! 😍
