@@jonathangrant9767 Certainly many valuable insights can be gained from data but that is simply not true. Saying that data is where all the answers are is like saying you can build a car with just petrol.
this was so helpful, thank you! i had been so unsure about what majors to take cause everything just seemed blehh to me. im a business student and all i know is that i definitely do not want to do finance - i did not have the interest to sustain my focus so it quickly became a burden to study. accounting seems like a safe choice since it has broad opportunities and im fairly good with it and able to get through the work but have been on the fence about economics however this video was so affirming and made me think positively about the subject, especially considering i wanted to be involved with mathematics a little bit but was apprehensive about it being a minor or second major because the job opportunities are not plenty with that combination of accounting and maths. so accounting and economics it is!
I wonder if research is being done on how we might transition to a post-scarcity economy? I think this is going to become an issue in the not-so-distant future as an increasing amount of jobs is done by robots, automation, and artificial intelligence. Seems like a topic on which we ought to get a good start.
This is what I want to finish my education in. But I also want to get my Math/Stats down pat and be able to code. Will there be any jobs where the intersection of those 3 things be useful? What besides actuarial science or other professions are out there that need those three skills to work?
I would highly recommend you look into data analyst, data scientist, and data engineer roles. There's a lot of info about those online and it's all at the intersection of math, stats, econ, and a bit of computer science
