Ruth Koomler is a weaver turned encaustic painter. Encaustic painting, also known as 'hot-wax' painting, uses heated bee's wax to which colored pigments are added. The liquid or paste is then applied to a surface, usually prepared wood, to create a layered artwork. Recently, Ruth invited us into her recently built home-studio to demonstrate how she creates beautiful artwork out of wax, wood, and heat.
