From this video you will learn that ecologists are interested in the distribution of organisms within habitats, and use transects and quadrats and other sampling methods to collect quantitative data.
They take unbiased and representative samples, because counting every member of each organism within a habitat would be far too time consuming.
The sampling technique used depends on the habitat and the type of organisms present.
