Filigree is when tiny beads and threads of metal, sometimes twisted, are used to decorate jewelry. Filigree seems to be as old as jewelry itself. It can be subtle or quite spectacular. Learning about the different terminology and about different designs of jewelry is wonderful. It would be interesting to know what type of tools and magnifying devices are used when producing an item like this or other types of designs. I envision a hunched over person with different magnifiers hanging around their necks. Till tomorrow xxoo!

Ha! That is quite the image! Usually today people wear a band on their head with strong magnifying glasses that flip up and down. They hold the piece over a bench with a strong light affixed, and all of their tools are around their bench within arms reach. xoxo

I love filigree not just on jewelry. I incorporate them on my nail designs too, using embossed 3D gel paints, mostly in rust gold and silver tones. xxx

I love filigree I look at it for ever wondering how it was made I have some darling 925 rings from Amazon it’s not fine filigree but it’s filigree. Great price point under $15

While I can appreciate the beauty of filigree, it's a little much for me. Makes me think of Versace, whose designs I also appreciate but which is also usually a bit much for my style. Thanks for the video!

I've never equated filigree with Versace before, but you are definitely right. I see the connection. It is purely for the purpose of being ornate. Appreciating a design and wanting to wear it are two different things! xoxo

Is Filigree Gold, actually pure gold, (23ct., or 18ct.-, et cetera), and then added on top of, or wrapped surrounding, a base metal form of a piece of jewelry, or is 'it' the gold, itself, being formed into a style 'called' Filigree-?

I'm not sure if I'm getting the nuance of your question exactly right but filigree is the style and it can be done in gold, silver, and other metals. Hope that answers your question! xoxo
