Given the gravity of the situation, our recommendation would be to seek legal advice, before speaking to any one or company. The insurance angle to this situation is relatively simple; if you were within your carrier's grace period during the lapse, then there's a chance you could be covered. If you're outside of that grace period, and you in fact did not have coverage when the accident occurred, then you will definitely want to look at perhaps securing legal representation. Any help you can receive to relieve some of the financial burden you may be facing is certainly worth it. Thanks for the question. In response to your question: with the amount of international drivers within the U.S., carriers are incentivized to provide a solution. As such, most insurance carriers provide insurance options for foreigners that have a valid international driver's license. These options would include full coverage.
