I showed my younger sister Godzilland, she cried because of how adorable the designs are. Godzilland was honestly something else, I've seen like 4 of the episodes on RU-vid, I would have loved something like that as a kid, but hey, I guess I'll stick to dinosaur train :/

I always admired Godzilland for its cute and simple style. It absolutely blew my mind to see Gamera kaiju drawn in the style! (Even if the guide was unofficial) 16:47 Interestingly I tend to have ideas that if I were to bring back Godzilland in terms of merch, I'd make it exclusive to places like Hot Topic, Boxlunch, and FYE (as some Godzilla merch tends to be). In terms of the show, I'd make it stray away from its educational roots in the OVAs and make it an action-comedy adventure show instead.

I like Godzilland because imo its balances the cute roundish aspect and actually looking like the character in question. Like if I showed someone a picture of Godzilland Godzilla they would know it was the Big G, versus Chibi Godzilla I'm willing to bet a lot of people would have no idea who he was supposed to be (assuming they had never seen the designs prior)

I remember seeing Godzilland for the first time in middle school and thinking it was fan made, until I did research on it and found out it was official. After that I really wanted to get at least one official Godzilland figure, still looking but hopefully I'll find one.

Your enthusiasm for Godzilland is so infectious. I would absolutely bring it back if I could make that call, probably with art more in line with the 90’s era, since that art is a bit closer to modern sensibilities, though I wouldn’t want to change very much at all. Godzilland is already the cutest of all the SD Godzilla stuff. I actually think the recent Chibi Godzilla stuff is pretty alright, but none of those designs are anywhere near as cute as Godzilland.

Erasers erasers...I went through and found erasers for Godzilla, Zonefighter, Megaloman, the Ultra series up until Tiga, Mirrorman, Kamen Rider series, Gamera, ... Now I'm learning about Gojirand Erasers? Any chance you can upload that map you featured at 16:00?

Fantastic video MIB! I'm familiar with godzilland thanks to a friend who showed me the 1990 ovas and I really like it! I never knew the series has *THIS* amount of merch during the 1980s, like WOW!!! I would love to collect some of these!!!! Looking forward to the 1990 era of Godzilland!!!!

My theory is Godzilla is an adult in the 80s (even when he goes by "Gojira-kun") and a kid in the 1990s. Minilla was scrapped for the '90s reboot lol

I honestly like the Gojirand style. It's simple, but still recognizable and overall charming af. If I were to be the one to bring back Godzilland/Gojirand, I would absolutely do it in the style of a comedic slice-of-life style series with room for the occasional monster rumble (but nothing too serious).

I found out about Godzilland through you when you discussed the Chibi Godzilla line that took it's place, but as for how I'd revitalize it, I'd probably include more lessons, including "Egaite! Subarashii! Iro" [Draw it! Lovely! Colors] which is a color lesson. Heck, at first I was appalled from the sheer cuteness, but I've grown used to it now!

1:19 Irrelevant but man did the 80's miniatures kick ass. Nakano and Kawakita were on fire in G84 and GvB with those night scenes and perspective shots, plus those "modern" cities were so meticulously crafted. Imo the set quality following GvKG wouldn't be that good again until the Millennium films

OMG! The erasers remind me of the Muscle men I had as a kid...I want all of these. All these toys make me pine for the knee high Godzilla (vinyl) toy my ex found at a thrift store once. Unfortunately, he got lost in a move, which is sad, because we were planning on making a mini-Godzilla fan film since he's also a Model train person. We had amassed a huge amount of toy soldiers, vehicles etc. as well as a bunch of tiny dino toys.

Well since Hello Kitty has gotten more popular as of now. I think godzillaland would benefit for a resurgence. I would love to buy loads of the stuff you have shone. My girlfriend got me something that might be Godzilland for Christmas of 2020. It’s a plush of a sleeping king Ghidorah in Pajamas and laying their heads on a pillow with the middle head wearing a sleeping cap from 1993. I have since lost the paper tag and I can’t read Japanese so I can’t confirm if it is Godzilland or not, But It is in fact Officially licenced Godzilla merch by Banpresto. I love the adorable little goober. Kinda like how you said that Godzilland Ghidorah looks like a 3 headed Big Bird, mine has a kinda Woodstock from Peanuts Vibe

One time i picked up this cute Godzilla plush called “Baby’s First Godzilla” with an embroidered felt train in its hands in a Newbury Comics in Boston on vacation. Several years later when my girlfriend and i had started dating, she knew i loved Godzilla and either she or her little sister got me the exact same plush for my birthday. I good naturedly showed her the older plush and We all had a good laugh about it, We even took a picture of me holding both of them which i have since lost. i keep the 2 plushies next to eachother. 😂

Looking back then with animation right now and animation back then with Godziland. I wish Toho could bring back Godziland into modern animation but as something entertaining and fun but not educational like the previous Godziland. I’d definitely be looking forward to watch it whenever Godziland comes back in the modern era of cartoons.

3:03 YAY! A Kinnikuman shout out. Anyway, I'd imagine that if Godzilla has a dedicated land for him and his monster friends to play on, they would have giant monster sized versions of what humans play with. I always love that 1980's Chibi/Gag manga style artwork. There's something magical about that 1980's anime aesthetic that draws me to to that period.

Honestly: If you asked me to bring Godzilland back I'd probably make it like a full-on Dora the Explorer kinda thing. A show for little kids but maybe keep it wild and interesting with, say, characters coming across later versions of themselves or film continuity not being a factor. Like there are ten different Godzillas, including Shin just ambling about doing monster things. This allows for a greater number of potential antagonists and getting our protagonists on to today's lesson set. Usually, more robotic ones might be about mathematics or language, organic ones would be more about learning animals n nature n stuff. There is Toy potential out the wazoo, ranging from blind bags to six-inch figures with lite articulation, erasers, randomly putting it on stuff, hand puppets, etc. Hell, rerelease a few movies with Godzilland art instead of the official stuff just for a laugh. I would also bring it stateside just because even little kids in the US like Godzilla and cute stuff.

The film Looper has the Writer/Director of the time-travel movie Primer in it's credits as a "Time Travel Consultant". If I were to bring back Godzilland it would be as a serialized anime series with light continuity and tons of fan service and easter eggs. With Matt McMuscles and yourself as "Kaiju Konsultants" for the English release. Pardon the Boom-ism.

I had a kind of idea back in middle school like in 2011 about a sort of sitcom thing with kaiju in a Godzilland style. Like a comic kaiju Seinfeld with the kaiju living on a huge planet where they are human scaled and have human jobs. I dropped it a long time since, but it was an idea I had.

In regards to the board game and how the instructions depict the monsters as people in suits is very likely the case as Sanrio the owners of Hello Kitty have declared the Hello Kitty herself is not an anthropomorphic cat but rather a little girl in a kitty costume.
