Such a cool deep dive! I know so little about the mystery genre, so all of this was new to me. Interesting what rules they came up with for mysteries, and not surprised that they show their age. I have been enjoying SFF with mystery components, but I haven't picked up too many genre mysteries beyond The Thursday Murder Club series, which I absolutely loved.
😆 I’m glad you liked this video!! Mystery is my gem but at the same time there’s always so much I don’t know! I think The Thursday Murder Club series is a very cool series in cozy mystery, and it’s very different from other books in the sub-genre, glad you liked it!
Big fan of Agatha. 阿婆最高!I have watched all the media adaptions of her books but never read any of her books yet. Tried to pick up one of them but failed to finish it. Partly because of it was a collection of her shorts and the descriptions of the crime was not intriguing enough for me. Do you have a few recoms for a beginner?
wow you've watched all Agatha Christie's adaptations, that's so impressive!! Yea I found myself having hard time finishing reading short story collections too (so hard to pick up again once you put them down 😂). I would recommend And Then There Were None as a starter for Christie, can't go wrong with the classic! As for her other series, personally I just like to read in chronological order 😆
i'm with you on agatha.as absolutely essential..these days i have two favorite's laurie r. king and her mary russell series featuring sherlock holmes and jacquelin winspear and her heroine maise dobbs. i did love all the writers you mentioned and read them ravenously when i was young.
Ohh nice to know you enjoyed all the writers I want to read in this video 😊 I can’t wait to read more books from them! And now I’m adding Laurie R. King and Jacqueline Winspear to my list! I bought a mystery book by an author called Celia Fremlin the other day and found out the author has admitted to assisting four people to die 😧 now I’m scared to read the book!
