So true. Feel the same, as the icons all look so similar they will be hard to distinguish quickly.

That's like saying letters are hard to distinguish because they're all the same color.

@@a-DAN if letters were all multicolored in the same jumbled way, they'd be alot harder to tell apart, yeah.

@@a-DAN I think that's a bad example, @1 1 English letters are mostly very distinct shapes, while Google's new "workspace" icons are all very boxy, & are covered in lots of colors. It's hard to tell them apart from a glance, especially if they're small icons in a grid or tab. There was a reason every app had its own color scheme, & were grouped by shape. Triangles for Play Stores, rectangles for documents etc, so-on & so-fourth. I understand the want & need for branding, but the old icons were perfectly good, & homogenizing them this much defeats the purpose of having individual icons to some extent. I'm sure they'll make them more distinct in the future.

I don't like the new docs logo and I'm not sure about the Meet logo, but other than those I like them

I agree although I still think Google's way ahead in productivity vs Microsoft's online tools.

Simple. Assuming you have Android, download Nova Launcher and you can make the icons whatever you damn well please.

Duo is for casual consumers. Meet is for formal business meetings Duo is the FaceTime competitor. Meet is the Teams comptetitor Google's trying to take both consumer calls and business calls on at once - which is why no other company has two different apps

@@tomfarrellpm Microsoft has 2/3. Skype for consumers and Teams (and Skype for business) for enterprises. The only reason Apple doesn't have a business-oriented video calling app is because they don't have their own office suite. But you explained the reason Duo shouldn't be killed yourself, Duo is for consumers, and Meet is for enterprises. There is a fundamental difference between the two. They want to get rid of it because it is "confusing" which is bullshit IMO. Duo was just gaining traction as well, with Samsung's phone app getting integration with it. But that's Google being Google I guess

@@MarnixUwU You can always tell when Google is going to kill an app/lineup, because the announcement comes after years of no updates or changes. Google doesn't kill anything out of the blue, or anything they're pushing as hard as Duo. You could tell Play Music was going to die - it had been neglected for years. You could tell Daydream was going to die - it had flopped and Google's latest phones didn't even support it. You could tell Hangouts itself was going - its time had passed, Google has stopped pushing it and was obviously focusng on other efforts. Nothing points to Duo being killed, as it is being pushed more than most Google products, and is recieving new features and continous device support (Edit: i don't think I'd describe Skype as a consumer product, more of just a mess. It isn't the same, portable, casual product as FaceTime or Duo - it's a clunky and formal video call product. But then again, it isn't geared towards businesses either. I definitely see Skype going soon, or being massively overhauled)

@@tomfarrellpm Valid points, 9to5 Google reported it ( 9to5google.com/2020/08/14/sources-google-meet-replaces-duo/ ) so I basically just assumed since it wouldn't surprise me at all. YT Music is still shite and all that. But since then I haven't heard anything about it so I guess it won't happen. Or at least not for a while. Strange how Google didn't just say "no we're not killing it yet" Oh well, my bad!

True, although the icons are nice, being the same colors is bad for UX.
