This was a nice surprise. :) Fun fact, the name Pottsfield was a clue to the nature of the town. A "potter's field" is a paupers' burial site, sometimes with marked but usually unnamed graves and sometimes with no grave markers at all, just an unmarked field on the outskirts of a town full of bones.
Easily one of the best masterpieces Cartoon Network ever made. It may be 10 episodes, but its a great Halloween-themed show with GORGEOUS art, music, stories, and old-timey themes that provide it with so much charm. Also, Elijah Wood was the perfect choice for Wirt. He adds to Wirt’s formalities and quirkiness.
In America we call that an Ugly sweater. FYI the Woodsman is played by Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown in BTTF) and the kid with the pointy hat is played by Elijah Wood (Frodo in LOTR). Tim Curry is also in this show. Oh and the Blue Bird is played by Melanie Lynskey (Coyote Ugly as Gloria, Yellow Jackets as Shauna)
The perfect reaction to watch with a glass of my homemade hard apple cider! YES! Also, theres a difference between a sweatshirt and a sweater. That is a sweater since it looks knit.
You can find sweatshirts made of everything from cotton to polyester to rayon to terrycloth (yes, the same stuff bath towels are made from), but I say fleece is comfiest and I will 100% die on this hill. (/hj)
When I saw your jumper I immediately was like 'Yessss Enoch!' and was so glad you got to episode 2 while wearing it. I am so excited for more of this series and to see your reaction on things to come. As other have said, Wirt is voiced by Elijah Wood, not Jason Ritter (Dipper from Gravity Falls) One of the reasons the shows are somewhat similar is because the creators (Patrick McHale and Alex Hirsch) know each other in real life, and I believe were college roommates? Or something like that, and allegedly they were planning on having their series connected somehow, but that fell through. OTGW and GF are put up on like.. idk a separate list of cartoons with style and writing and how they make you sit and think about what's going on. Very few compare to them.
all the little details really are something to pay attention to!!! the attention to detail and callbacks in this show are unreal!!! cant wait to see more!!
I absolutely adore this show; every episode is gorgeous. I’ve often heard it described as a show that makes no sense, then starts to make sense, then everything makes sense which makes no sense, and then EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE. I’m looking forward to seeing your thoughts on it.
OH I AM SO PLEASED YOU STARTED DOING OVER THE GARDEN WALL. I just rewatched this show the other day, it's amazing. Love your jumper! The BG painters went hard on this. I've got prints by Clarke Snyder (one of the BG painters) that I hang every autumn. I love the art so much. I love the MUSIC so much. The sound track has been my #1 replayed on Spotify for years. It gives me such a warm feeling :) Thank you for the video!
I am not really a huge voice actor knowledge base but I do know that there are quite a few recognizable voice talents. The one most recognizable two to me is Christopher Lloyd, probably best known for being Doc Brown in Back to The Future, and Elijah Wood, probably best known for being Frodo in Lord of the Rings. I am so glad you are doing this series.
So this is where you went! Reactions! I like it! The guy who sings the theme song to this is Jack Jones. He's one of the more underrated crooners. Never got the love that Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and the like.
Hi! Beatrice (the bird) is voiced by Melanie Lynskey- I'm not as familiar with her work as I'd like to be but she was in Ever After, But I'm a Cheerleader, Perks of Being a Wallflower, and Yellowjackets.
This is super interesting! The animation is really beautiful. There are a few different elements & vibes I get a from this show already. I got Studio Ghibli; Princess Mononoke vibes with the wolf infected with the black goo creature much like in the opening scene with the demon infected/cursed boar. I don't know who doesn't like your interruptions because that's actually why I love this content. You are fantastic at making brilliant observations about things. I always look forward to it.❤
Yaaaaaay I was hoping we start seeing you watching this soon! and yeah the background art in this show is consistently phenomenal. I rewatch this show every October as a tradition, I love it a LOT. Just ahhhhh so good.
Definiatly subbing for OTGW and GF! Great to see someone enjoy and watch something that I've come to love. Especially OTGW, Watch it every October with my brother. Def gonna binge the GF vids too!
I was like “wait a minute, that’s a sweater not a jumper!” (A jumper in America being a sleeveless dress) Thanks for clarifying. I learned something today!
I need to watch this again. Hard to believe it has been eight years. So, according to IMDB (Internet Movie Database; a site about movies that lists actors and what they have done): 1) there are ten episodes, not thirteen. This makes sense since they kind of showed a two hour movie version after they finished it as a mini-series. 2) Beatriice was voiced by Melanie Lynskey, who currently has 87 credits to her name, most of which are live action.
Ah, this one's still got a community, going strong years after it's debut, and relatively little content afterwards, all things considered. Not that it's a bad thing, mind. More than a few could stand to learn the lesson of ending things where they ought to. As for Over the Garden Wall, it's THE Autumnal Show. Though it bears saying, it's less Halloween, more Harvest Season. It's got plenty of the trademarks of Old Americana, as you're like to see soon enough. Think "Wind in the Willows", if that old book means anything to you. Because of that, the whole show was drenched in this familiarity from the first airing. You don't know anything about the characters or The Unknown, but in a way, you do. You know on some level what The Unknown is, you know the stories of the characters we'll meet, you know the way things are going to go because you were brought up on those tales, taught those lessons as a youngster. It's right there in the song, "Dancing in a swirl of golden memories." Now, this will be my only comment on this series until the last episode, as I do not trust myself to not rant and out the whole thing by accident. The nature of it's familiarity makes such a thing a delicate balance, after all. I shall say though, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the intro song, the lyrics and all. It's such a beautiful piece, and I so adore a fine tune.
Day 116,785,223 of replying to someone asking me to watch Amphibia, with the reply; It's on my list, along with She-Ra, Vox Machina, Arcane Rewatch and more! Shows that are current / relevant are taking priority tho :D
I've noticed something about you. Why did you start a RU-vid channel when you should've been a detective? You seem to notice all of the little things in the cartoons that you react to that the average idiot doesn't. So I guess that makes you smarter the average idiot, or at least more observant. I think I'll start calling you Sherlock Mosco. The cartoon though was drawn in more of a European style but the rest is American. The bird's voice I'm sure was Melanie Lvnskev who played Rose on Two and a Half Men, if you ever watched that show P.S. what you're wearing we call a sweater here in the U. S. because it keeps you warm and can make you sweat I guess
