An Airbag system must communicate with the engine ECU to know the engine speed, vehicle’s speed and other vehicle data in order to engage at the right moment.
During the functional testing of such airbag systems, all such ECUs with which it communicates, must be present. Performing such tests on the actual vehicle is not a viable option due to cost constraints.
Hardware-in-loop testing comes as a savior in such times!
