As a doctor in the top government hospital in the country, I know the problems faced by the patients when they come to the hospital without proper medical records. They get improper treatment done by unregistered/illegal practitioners and come at the end stage hoping that we can save them. Sometimes their medical records are lost in travel and they face difficulty in explaining their conditions to us. Hoping this will change the conditions in Healthcare 🙏
I always wonder why these so called Superstars Of all woods promote this type of content…even a small tweet of this will aware millions of fans atleast 😂
UPI brought a revolution in Fintech and UHI has potential to bring revolution in our 🇮🇳 Healthcare ecosystem. The key will be efficient execution & end goal should be to make healthcare accessible and affordable to every Indian 🙏
If they had to make healthcare accessible and affordable for all then govt wudve invested more in public hospitals, etc which is the job of any govt in any country. Digitization of healthcare is cheaper than spending on public hospital infrastructure, having said that one can't deny the benefits of efficiencies coz of digitization. While no doubt citizens will benefit from streamlined services but affordability i highly doubt with this govt more leaning towards private hospitals instead of making public hospitals. One thing is for sure, maximum benefit for insurance companies as data collected will immensely help them.
@@AnandKumar-ol2uw Where do you source your data from? I mean this government has built more AIIMS than any previous government. Ayushman Bharat gives a cover kf 5 lakh. My company give a cover a 4 lakh only. Matlab hate karne ki liye kuch bhi bolna hai... Kyu?
Modi government has done so much, you cannot even imagine, in front of the Modi government, infrastructure projects worth more than $ 1.4 trillion are going on, a $ 400 billion Bharat Mala project is being built, 55000 km of highways across the country, I 1.2 lakh 8 line Delhi-Mumbai highway has been completed with a cost of 15Billion$ 40 port is being redeveloped at a cost of $ 250 billion under the Sagar Mala project, to give a boost to the country's manufacturing, the government has given 40Billion$ worth incentive under launched of 19 PLI scheme in different fields, as a result of which India has now become one of the top manufacturers, India is second largest mobile manufacturer country's, high speed bullet train Ahmedabad-Mumbai is under construction, The country has got 2 new Fred Corridors (EDFC, EDFC) which cost 10Billion $ and 6 more Frade corridor is planned, in last 8 years 16 new AIIMS have been created Congress made only 3 AIIMS in 70 years, last 8 years 9 new Metros has been started and 14 news metro project is under construction, with 10Billion $ india will going to build Andaman and Nicobar Islands A world class army or port , this will make andaman nicobar iland port strategically very important, this is only the work which has been completed or the work is going on. There are hundreds of project is planned for next 10 year
I am in Australia, here we have IHI (Individual health identifier) which plays a same role, i always used to discuss that INDIA should have this. Now I am Proud to say INDIA HAS MADE THIS even in a better way as they have huge population. Thanks to Modi govt. and population of india for choosing such a revolutionary prime minister.
I stay in Canada, which has almost the same health system, I often used to wonder why India can't do this. When you go to the doctor, they just swipe your health card and they can see all your details. Each time they need to get authorized by your card to view your records. Only doctors can enter your health data and only during the consultation. You don't have the access to edit the data. It is a tested system and India will benefit a lot from this.
Compare population of india and Canada Compare doctor to patient ratio in both countries Do you think doctors in india have the time to enter your health data, that too during the consultation visit itself( many times even the patient won't spare so much time) Doctors in government hospital barely have time to fill the case sheet And even in the current system, do you know how many people misuse ayushman Bharat scheme , inspite of being economically well off, just to get government benefits It is a very difficult process to reach the level of canada
@@saishashank8258 Hey it's not time taking process, whatever a doctor writes in a prescription, is the same they write on a computer. And honestly, Doctors and accessibility to doctors are better in India than in Canada. Indian People here prefer going to India in private hospitals for major surgeries as Canada has 8-12 months of waiting for critical surgeries. Its a broad topic, search on google about Canada's health system. Only thing India should learn is to manage the data of patients, rest India is better despite issues with government hospitals.
Canada's Health Card is totally sponsored by the government and there you pay for EI, CPP, Federal taxes, CRA filings etc. It's a tall order for India. Let India roll out UHI first then to catch up Canadian system, it will take decades.
The irony is RU-vidrs like Dhruv Rathee will never tell you about this and even if they do , they just try to find every aspect to criticize Government and to brainswash people. Think School really covered every topic with pure knowledge and no biased opinions. ♥️
I really love to watch every videos of these channels 1. Think school 🤩 2. World affairs ( PD sir❤️) 3. Abhi & niyu 😍 Edit: It is very disturbing to see some comments & replies of some people who couldn't diffrenciate bet'n pro-bjp statement & pro-nation statement 🇮🇳🇮🇳
During covid vaccination process, Central government collected details about diabetes, blood pressure etc and they asked mobile number with identity proof. Even in covid vaccination certificate they mentioned unified health id... Already government collected most of the details for UHI 🙏🏻
@@AnandKumar-ol2uw you could always deny the info. But imagine for common people who cannot carry medical records with them now can just carry the card n the doctors can see all the necessary medical information just by click when needed. N for your kind information the details are safe with encryption. Someday in future your life might be saved bcz of this.
Being a doctor myself, I feel UHI will be a game changer for the Indian medical ecosystem. I would like to point out that UHI should also have a patient-friendly database of diseases which informs the patient the details of the condition he/she is suffering from which includes risk factors, symptoms, prognosis, drug side effects and various other info. The lay public relies on a simple Google search or Wikipedia to gather this information which in majority of cases is unreliable and false.
This is really true, the people who write the articles about symptoms aren't even real doctors, they are just some people with experience about what it could be, but not "what it really is" this scare people, I once got some infection not going away and recurrent in my ear.. it pained like hell and I searched on Google and there were articles saying it was chronic and won't go away... I went to ent, after 5min checkup he came to conclusion that it was just coz of using q-tips and pushing wax in and he just clean my ear and give me a otc medication... And it was gone in 3-days....
im a surgeon in germany ,and its all digital here , healthy industry is interconnected to its peak. There are cons to this think too, software problems ,crashes , but i still think custom tailoring it to indian system will definitely help our country. im rooting for this ,this will help my family in India
Being a medical student this video helped me a lot! I wanted to understand the ecosystem of Indian Healthcare on a larger level so that I can work on my future projects. Thank you so much :) I Shared w/ my fellows.👍

As a dentist in india 15 years ago, I can tell you people cannot afford quality Healthcare. This is the biggest reason why people go to quacks. Also, I do not understand why Ayurvedic practitioners prescribe allopathic medicines. Govt has allowed them a backdoor entry to Healthcare for which they are not trained or educated.
@@SS-wm1wy Thank you Sir/Ma'am for your valuable input. I'm aware of the fact that people cannot afford high-quality healthcare in our country and that's why many times they either go to the chemist for medicine without consulting any doc or go to quacks as you said, but I feel that things are changing maybe on a micro level but momentum is there. It's just that this new generation of docs should start working innovatively and smartly. They should not become doctors just because they want job security. I feel that improving the healthcare ecosystem of my country is my responsibility, it's my job to ensure that every person should be able to afford top-notch healthcare facilities. I can't play the blame game w/the govt. And the thing which you mentioned about Ayurvedic practitioners, I'm sorry I'm completely unaware of that issue. Hence, I cannot comment on that. These are my opinions. We can agree to disagree. I respect your opinions as well. Thank you:)
I am from Bangladesh If modi ji can make this happen he will not just win your countries heart but all the neighbors ..,.... because if any leader does good things to the common people he is respected by all even across the border ♥️♥️♥️🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
Brother there is a development project in which faster trading routes roads and different things like eu. First modiji wanted to do it with Pakistan afganistan + Bangladesh + Nepal+ Bhutan+india but as they attacked india on uri so india has to made another group involving Thailand, mynmar in place of Pakistan, afganistan
I was thinking about the same idea from a long time but these ideas needs an inclusion of govt. So glad that UHI came to existence. This will bring more businesses revolving around UHI just like UPI. For indian mass, this will be revolutionary in terms of health services. Only thing left will be a control over inflating medical bills and hospital mafias.
Another idea: Govt. should make an app like twitter, where people of india can give ideas to the govt., govt should set up a whole team for this thing. I think education doesn't define intelligence, i know the cabinets and behind these policies there are people who are more educated than most indians, but still they are not that intelligent. This will maintain democracy(relationship between the govt and people of india), an example to the so called western democracy. I know this idea is like made by a 9yr old but i liked it.
I can imagine a day when the patient walks into my clinic. Scans his finger in the biometric and all his medical relevant data is displayed on my screen. His MRI scans from the MRI centre he went to. His blood reports from the home collection he got done. His diagnosis and treatment from the previous doctor, his past surgery records from the visit he did to his hometown. Everything! This is bliss for every doctor. Not just the patient 🙏
If indian media start covering These important topics then what is the use of THINK SCHOOL 😅 I love and appreciate your work It is very easy to understand these complex topics from you You are real life hero who is really educating entire Nation Two words (thank you) 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Much needed, I am first time hearing about this wonderful project, as you said the mainstream media turned the blind eyes to this revolutionary project, especially in Tamil Nadu no one talks about it
Dude note my words. Regional language media is lapdog of regional satraps. Bjp is very poor in controlling narrative in regional language media though they have achieved fair grip on large section of english and hindi media. But couldn't crack in on regional language media especially in non hindi states. In maharashtra too all marathi print and electronic media is obsessed with Sharad Pawar and his politics and run propaganda at his behest. They largely prefer dynasties. A lot of rural population which doesn't follow english or hindi media and totally rely on regional language media are totally misled, brainwashed and misinformed about bjp govt, its policies and its governance and schemes
I think govt should also create a digital user interface for education with best teachers who only teaches only practical knowledge without any unnecessary information.
I think what govt should do is make a app with best teachers and make labs in every village, where the student can learn from app and go to lab for practical knowledge whenever the student wanted.
If UHI is successfully implemented in the country it could lead to our nation to go on another level of success 🇮🇳, and Thanks Ganesh for informative videos like these keep going bro❤️.
bro as a doctor iam telling you , u r not just making videos u r even paving way for doctors how can they improve health management and administration of hospitals according to the latest trends hats off to you man
Thank you think school for bringing this to mainstream We doctors at our startup MediSNAPS build softwares for the doctor ,by the doctors And taking further the mission of our honourable prime.minister
I'm currently a junior Doctor in Maharashtra's apex tertiary healthcare centre in heart of Mumbai. We don't even have access to electronic medical records. Everything is done by paper and without computers. It seems like I'm in 1990's. This seems to be a distant dream to me. I hope that we get to see this UHI getting implemented ASAP.
not really, Data is not used in EU , heck even doctor can't access without explicit signature or approval. read up on GDPR . So its not that technology and intent don't exists.
I am not a politician or belong to any political outfit. But the way Mr.Modi works and only one person, who really gained my ❤ heart is, indecisively Mr.Modi. He is only one person who made the entire world country leaders looking at India and it's fortune. None of the other PMs in India did this for past 70+ yrs. 😌. No doubt at all. Mr.Modi would be the best PM too. Even this world leaders would like to be Mr.Modi leading our country.

@@rahulkumar-hp5sw But I've seen for the first time any government focusing on the infrastructure of the country, for the first time an Indian prime minister said to make India a manufacturing hub. Previously all governments were extremely socialist. BJP is socialist too but it is also somehow also ok with capitalism. Credit should be given where it's due. People vote for development projects in their area and not some stupid Bharat jodo yatra which no one can relate to or get any benefit from.
As a doctor and healthcare professional, we face many challenges regarding pateint's history, language barrier, wrong interpretation, etc. You have covered all the problems related to our field. During COVID, most people have realised the benefits of their health records and the power of Government hospitals. If UHI applies effectively, it will the another revolutionary change after UPI. Thank you so much for such amazing content. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Its great to see that Thinkschool tries to share details regarding good initiatives of the government which no one is saying about...The UHI will be a revolutionary step in coming few years ,wTch out 👍👍👍
Just like how banks rolled out UPI, hospitals have to roll out UHI. The government has to give some incentive to the hospital to manage all the digital infrastructure needed for this. Looking forward to seeing UHI in the Primary healthcare Centers soon.
Hi, Am a doctor in govt institute, I agree this is mind-blowing but a daunting task. Another big hurdle unlike UPIis the variegated form of health care in India ,we have hospitals, pvt and govt, pvt practitioners not like in institution based ,next there are different types of health care -ayurvedic,unani,naturopathy,apart from allopathy.
Great video, have been waiting for some details on this initiative. So as a doctor who did my undergrad from AIIMS in India now training in US, my feeling is that the biggest challenge is getting this platform up and running with all its stakeholders. We will need computers in all hospital spaces, doctors and nurses trained to interface with this system (its much more complex than paper records due to sheer volume of information)- govt hospitals today are far from this. This will undoubtedly happen but will take time. Once thats done, there is a lot we can directly model from EHRs in US and UK etc, but many things will need to be redesigned/rethought in India’s context. This can often bring gamechanging innovation to the table, as with UPI. Exciting time for sure, will change the face of India’s healthcare in coming decades.
Being a doctor.. I'm telling you, this will be wonderful once it's executed well across the country. Many times, we have seen unconscious patients with no data on Allergies or Blood Group, and it's time consuming to check all those during critical hour. And it will help us diagnose faster for the patients who go "Doctors Shopping" and hide significant part of history.. help us avoid unnecessary investigations and save lot of time!
Man..i'm so lucky that i came across your channel...the content never disappoints and its so nicely structured covering every aspects...i really pray some top government official watch your videos...watching your videos is worth every seconds.
Working as an intern in a government hospital, I can verify most of the points stated in the video are true. I see various patients being referred from far reached areas to PHC then CHC then finally to a hospital where their problems can be treated effectively. In all this process documentation and necessary information get lost quite often. I am really happy that government is coming up with such schemes to help everyone get better health services. Thank you Think School for making such good content. As always the video was quite informative. Hope to see more such content on the platform.
We at Medoc Health are overcoming all of the shortcomings and difficulties mentioned here in a very systematic manner. Thanks Thinks school for bringing the concept of UHI to mainstream. Will be sharing it with our entire network.
I kept thinking about how inconvenient it might get for the existing population to input their medical records right from the beginning of the video and I got really happy when you mentioned it in the later section of the video. Watching think school videos has made me think in various angles and I'm really thankful for you guys to make such videos which keep us updated and force us to actually THINK. Thank you Ganesh for these case studies!
Wow! Great video think school, I am a resident doctor and other concern I have is the penetration into the doctors community. 1. Another pro is the data that is collected can be used to train machine learning models for Indian population (specific ML models for ppl of India) this in turn helps the future doctors for a better diagnosis. And your concerns 2. privacy matter: there are specific guidelines laid down by GOI and the developers has to follow. 3. Wrong inputs: I think the hospitals/doctors make all the entry's and changes in the records of a pts. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I had sometime back met a founder of one such med tech platform who were working towards incorporting all the medical data of patients in one database which could be easily accessible. There biggest problem was accomplishing it for tier 2 and tier 3 population where nither the patient has access to resources not the doctor/operator has access to equipments to feed that knowledge to the system. I don't think this issue is yet resolved
Thats y govt needs to step in and get all tbe things to basic level. Just like UPI a payment service avbl in even petty shops. UHI should be accepted across all registered clinics and hospitals
@@premkuamr6343 That's alright. But there is a fundamental difference in UPI and UHI. For UPI the backend work i.e recording and ptocessing all the trx is done by the banks. the format and method is unform across all the banks. The same thing will be an issue for UHI. Since the at the basic level itd the user or the medical practitioner uploading the documents. There is no way that can be unform for atleast 10 yrs. Rest lets see what happens
Insurance thing is really great . It will help many of them from being denied at crucial moment their insurance help . Main thing is that data privacy if any leak is there , people could misuse it very dangerously . I hope this too be a success like UPI 🙌💯
If these will given companies like TCS , then security will not be an issue, Now a days indian companies focusing on s3curity rather than anything, it's only my opinion 😊
Although a little out of context, here in Nepal, health facilities are a mess. Whenever you go for any health treatment, you are almost certain to be asked for an X-Ray. Furthermore, even if you did it earlier on the same day somewhere else, you must do it again at their facilities or the specific place they recommend. Around a year ago, I met some people working on a similar start-up idea, but none of the health institutions were willing to share the data and resources with others. However, things will be more accessible and mainstream if the government decides to step in and implement itself. So much potential in the project that can be a game-changer in the health and related field of India! All the best!❤
Salute to this Govt. taking care of 1.3 billion population of India through such timely and transformational initiatives.... This would pave the way for next waves of Health Tech and Med Tech business opportunities resulting a huge economic growth!!!
the best part of this channel is its just so so so much fair it will tell you all the pros all the cons and with so so so so so much simplicity . like seriously you are one the most neutral person ever i have seen
Thanks Think School team for making these types of educational, informative, fact based & geopolitical videos explaining complex ideas or strategies into simpler form & it's impact on common people without any bias. You guys are doing an excellent job & I learned a lot from all your videos. I hope that UHI proves to be revolution like UPI and if this is implemented and executed correctly then India can set world class example for healthcare services and solutions digitally similar to UPI and Fintech recognition. Jai Hind. Jai Bharat 🇮🇳🙏

Great content as always! My Major concern with UHI is that as you pointed out privacy issues, particularly the much needed medical information is available to all including unscrupulous elements like organ donor black market. I fear that it might cause an increase in such cases. It would be really interesting to see how digital security evolves for medical data.
I have seen Many Initiatives Taken by Government but the question is how successful it has become, we also need to analyze them at a later point of time, Making Promise is good but taking right action and getting the result is what matters, Hope we will achieve them in near future...
The data point you have pointed is the main concern , we at medisnaps are focussing on the data security of patients which most of the med tech aren't and big players are making big data money , but kudos to the research u people put
Sir Take a Bow 🙇♂️ Fantastic sir disseminate till gross-root level is very complicated to govt due to no specific body or commission to do this. But we need to spread this type of programs
It is so awesome. 15 years India was gearing up to become one of the best It provides service to developer countries. But that revolution is now changing the whole service side of the country .... I loved the vision but it's challenging just how well it will be implemented.
Hey Think School! Thank you for educating me with your various videos. You are doing an incredible job. The govt. has been working on solving this issue for the past 3 years. I speak from experience for the last 3 years as a startup founder, where they are just doing pilots which are unsuccessful and this problem is very difficult to solve! I feel the govt. is just making it appear as though they are doing work and solving this problem, when actually on ground nothing is happening and there is too much red-tapism for them to be able to deliver. I feel there are some important pointers that you may have missed out on. One may wonder, the technology to implement UHI is not very complex then why has it taken so long for the government to implement this in the Indian Health ecosystem. Well, the problem is mostly with: 1. Standardization of medical data: Every HIS (Hospital Information System) follows a different kind of standard to store EHR/EMR (Electronic Health Record/Electronic Medical Record), depending on the software vendor they might use an American standard/European standard or their own made up standard. Hence, even today when a patient goes from a top private hospital to another one (lets say Fortis to Medanta), since their HIS are different the data cannot be synced to each others systems. Hence, it becomes a manual effort again for the Doctors and staff to re-enter and sift through this siloed data. Now, who shall set this standard? Till now the politics of Healthcare in India has been passing on the baton from one agency to the other (NITI Aayog, DISHA act, NDHM etc.). Interoperability is one of the biggest challenges. 2. Data Privacy and security: Health data is considered more sensitive than even Financial data (imagine if a person is sick and their health data leaks out, how can their boss use that as leverage to not give them a promotion!). In the video you rightly said that a user can give access to a doctor incase of some checkup/emergency. But, then why would you give access to an Insurance company, who would charge you a higher insurance premium if you are not very "healthy"? This system doesn't work well for insurance companies, hence they show they are favouring it, but they know it won't really workout too well for them. New age Insur-Tech startups want to sell Fitness devices to a section of society that is fit and give them low insurance premiums with the added revenue from their fitness devices. Also, as you may be aware, the security of the Adhaar system is a joke! Periodically Adhaar data of Lakhs of people are hacked. Imagine if that happened with the UHI! That would be utterly disastrous for the govt.
I had a similar question - would insurance companies be able to exploit the health history of patients to play around with premium pricing? Would they be able to game the system/blindly deny coverage by simply tagging some condition as preexisting? This makes me think if this data should even be shared with insurance companies at all?! #thinkschool
As I'm pursuing Pharmacy this is the exact idea I was thinking on! I was thinking from pharmaceuticals side (How patients directly going in pharmacy without prescription can stop) as it is very dangerous without knowing effects of medicine & background of diseases &allergies. & I thought the same, startups can do nothing here government can bring such thing where every medical data about peoples will be there & treatment can immediately & in appropriate way :)
This is already in existence in UK and perhaps in other countries (slightly different due to way healthcare is structured differently in each country). But the one proposed for India builds upon and add additional and much required benefits of UHI.This is such a life saver and an important aspect of healthcare. This is and will be life changer, perhaps will be the a innovation that changes the future of healthcare in India.
Wow, simply outstanding. I got goosebumps multiple times just by hearing the ideas and possibilities that UHI can bring to the citizens of India. If we can somehow implement it successfully and everyone in the country can register themselves, then this would be the greatest thing that has happened to India in a long time. This will be a massive historical event where a government has managed to reduce the cost and time to provide health care to 1.4 billion people. I wish that we can work together to make this scheme successful, it is crazy to just imagine the amount of benefits that this system can bring to us. I hope all of us can understand the benefits of this and support the government in making this happen. As Indians, we must be very careful not to allow stupid opposition parties and foreigners to ruin this system for us.That will be the biggest challenge.
Good milestone for health sector of India ... By this we will know accurate rates ,, number of particular diseases suffered by population ... GFR ,,IMR ,MMR etc....
I agree to the concept and US has similar programs and registries. Another point, it can also help with the same example why area 1 has so many diabetic patients, is it genetics, food, lifestyle or combinations to run educational programs to manage. If it’s as efficient and effectively made as UPI, our model can beat it. Con side, for some minor reasons they can raise premium and gov will need to set regulations. As always amazing videos. I wish my schooling was so much fun and practical.
Hey Buddy are you going to continue your Series on Hidden History. You stopped in between explaining about Chatrapathi. In my opinion, you can continue the Series and Explain us about the wars fought by Marathas such as Battle of Pawankind, Pratapgarh etc. This will be an Indian Game of Thrones of its own 😊
Thanks for the insight, but I'm still confused why Bitcoin and crypto prices keep dropping? This drop follows a number of other significant drops in recent weeks. I still hold enormous value of cryptos and it scares me. Whats your take on this?
There are many reasons for this drop in value. One of the main reasons is that there is an ongoing debate about whether or not Bitcoin should be regulated as a security or as a currency.

Patients visting hospitals today carry a personal notebook to record their health record history which is often writen by doctors including the medications that are prescribed to them. Under this act, government has launched an app with excellent user Interface name Eka Care. Through the app, one can check their pulse rate on the go with their smartphone. It also has Various questionnaires for the user to answer, which us useful in ruling out Various medical condition. My suggestion is that An ecosystem must be generated in hospitals where Doctors can easily jot down important findings and diagnosis of the patient along with the list of medications and their dosage etc hazeless. It must be doctor friendly, so that doctors need not waste time entering patient data which otherwise they could have writen in seconds in patient's notebook!
I think the hospitals and clinics should have an option to directly input all the information about the patient after the treatment so that the data becomes more accurate
I love your channel. I’m a die hard optimist, but it’s always good to consider the worst case scenarios. Therefore in this video, I liked the fact that you also touched upon the challenges. They resonated with the ones that were bouncing around in my mind. I hope GOI gets it right. For that it has to jump over the “knowledge trap” and the “unintended consequences “ paradigms. Would love to get your views on that
This is something which some developed countries doesnt have. We Indians lucky to have visionary leaders like Modi ji n his team. Great initiative. Ppl need to support leader n got like this.
I worked with the data science team of Johnson & Johnson. The data stored in these systems is very helpful in the process of 'drug development' for disease with no cure till date or to create a drug which is better than the existing 'standard of care'. We used to leverage datasets from the US for FDA approvals and Japan, etc. among others countries for aporovals from respective regulators. The application of this data during the new drug development phase range from patient selection for clinical trial, clinical trial design, placement of drugs in insurance formularies, physician targeting, clinical trial site selection, etc. With this initiative by the GOI, India will also be able to leverage the data and create a base for these processes to be conducted in India.
