Im glad I found this video , im a second year student in IS degree. I've been strugling to understand the difference btween System Engineering and system analyst. can you plz help me in understading it.
For ME it was not difficult . I got through it with a lot of challenges but there are few challenges so it’s based on the individual. If you enjoy computers you may enjoy it
Thank you so much for this video. I am in grade 11, I do Accounting, Business Studies with Pure Maths. I just wanted to know if the transition into IS will not be too difficult since I do not do IT or CAT at school level?
I'm doing my first year of BCom IS at Wits and didn't do CAT or IT. Its not difficult at all because they do everything on the assumption that not everyone has a background in tech. I'm not sure how it would be at other universities though.
@@NtsikiHarmse I didn't do accounting or any commerce subjects. Done History, Physics, Life Sciences and Mathematics but planning to transfer to Bcom and Bcom(IS) is one of my options. would that be a major disadvantage?

Hi! Thank u for this informative video! I'm a 12th grade STEM student. Is it okay if I choose this course? Is not too difficult for me for. Someone without an accounting background and such??. Thank u again!! 💗
Hi Xine. Yes it’s okay in university they usually give you an introduction into accounting and information systems. It’s not a must to have done these subjects but it can give an advantage to better understand
Hey no it won’t be difficult, in university they will teach you the basics of accounting during your first year. You’ll only do accounting during your first year.
Not really my experience with Unisa was that it was a little more technical knowledge like ( cloud computing, security) which I enjoyed but I was doing honours so I’m not sure on the degree. However the different was not that big.
I'm doing my first year studying Bcom in business informatics qualification at Unisa but would like to tranfer to Wits to study bcom in information system, are they the same and can I continue my degree at wits??
Hi from what I’ve been seen yes it is possible, but you’d need to do a short course around software engineering where you’ve also practice on your own time or have some sort of experience.
Hi, I know this shouldn't be much of a determining factor, but how is the pay and work-life balance for new graduates. I'm in first year at UCT doing business science finance and accounting, and am considering switching to IS.
Hi Maths is the required subject , but they can advice you maybe on a bridging course that you can take for one year or you’d just need to upgrade to pure maths. Go to the institution you want to study at or give them a call call them.
Hi You can actually do this degree with maths literacy at the university of Johannesburg as a extended programme ,it will take a extra year to complete though. rather than completing it in 3 years ,you will complete it in 4 years
@@ndzalamarikhotso1705 hi! Can I please have more information on how to apply for the extendes programme at University of Johannesburg. K was unaware that they have it, are you given an option to add it to your application or are you automatically considered for it if you dont qualify for the main bcom course?
@@NtsikiHarmse which places would you recommend to apply to? And what happens if you plan on going to honours straight after? Must you still apply for them?
@@KeketsoN01 Apply to as many companies of course do your research, try to go for companies with Big names and well known , like banks or audit firms or consulting companies. If you planning to do Honours and sure you’ll get it then you don’t need to apply but I would rather be on the safe side and apply.
I'm one of the few students that sent you a private message on Twitter. I'm going to come back with a testimony November/ December 2023. Thank you for this ❤
