In Case of Simple Cubic Lattice there are three different types of planes like (100), (110) and (111).
The inter planner distance is represented by symbol ‘d’.
(i) Plane (100): Plane (100) are represented in figure below. These are two faces of the cube and the distance between them is equal to the length of the cube.
Therefore, d100 = a
(ii) Plane (110): Planes EBCH and IFGL are two parallel planes, they cut x axis and y axis and are parallel to z axis.
(iii) Plane (111): Planes ACH and BGLE are two parallel planes, these planes meet all the three axes and are (111) planes.
Thus, the ratio of these inter planar distances for simple cubic lattice can be given as,
