I had the opportunity to live in Nigeria for a while because my dad worked there. African people are some of the sweetest people on Earth. They have their own way of showing love. Never have I ever seen people so down to earth and caring. It isn't fair to generalise this topic but yes I have seen Indians acting weird around them. I hope people understand that it's love that binds us all together and we should care for our brothers and sisters. Can't wait to go back to Africa!

I am a dark skinned Indian girl and I faced discrimination a lot of times. Mostly from my parents who thought I was ugly as hell and regretted giving birth to me. They thought nobody would marry me and I would be a liability and a burden. Somehow I grew up to be beautiful and married a handsome Chinese guy. Jokes on them lol.

I've been living in the west for the past 7 years now, and African-Americans are one of the only communities who have been polite to me always, super helpful, and kind.

this is an actual problem that's underrated in India. Trust me. I'm south Indian but I live in Odisha for my dad's occupation. Being from the south my skin tone is a bit dark. Not too extreme and not in the mid of the colour spectrum. A bit dark. And odisha's the kind of place where people will be the same skin tone as you but they will make fun of you for being that skin tone. I've had jokes made on me both from people the same skin tone as me and fairer than me. A dude even darker than me made fun of me once. So yeah it happens.

South Asian culture is extremely judgmental towards people with a darker complexion. My mothers side of the family is part Pakistani/ Indian, and my best friend is Bengali, therefore I'm very familiar with how their culture is towards skin color. They rate attractiveness by skin color. The lighter your skin is the more attractive you're. The darker your skin is the stinkier you're. Now put some Africans in the picture and you can only imagine how they view them. Culture is good, but along with every culture comes nonsensical and illogical traditions. 2:07 he states "Indians don't know their own history". Instead of just admitting Indian culture is prejudice towards dark skinned people in their society.
Maybe Sri Lanka is different because Sri Lankans are known to have a darker complexion, therefore the standard of beauty might differ compared to the rest of South Asia. Having said that, every time I google "Sri Lankan Actresses" all the actresses just happen to be light skinned. As well as when I googled images of Ms Sri Lanka the winners, runner ups, and even contestants are always very light skinned. Coincidence? Maybe, but maybe not.
You make a good point, and I do agree if Indians knew their history they would treat Africans in a more equal and respectful manner. However, I don't think their perception of skin tone will change if they have a better understanding about their history. Simple because, this discrimination of light vs dark skinned color is not only occurring between the African community in India. It is also happening between Indians themselves, and that is purely due to their culture. African are treated badly due to lack of history and the misinterpretation indians have of them. However, even with historical education their views on skin color won't change.

There's another community that lives in the forest who are treated horribly by their neighbors. India has always seemed to me to be a world unto itself; the ultimate travel destination. As someone who is black born in the USA to watch this video of Africans living in India as Indian citizens is perplexing and yet mesmerizing. I don't know why. And the thought of beautiful African sisters thought of nothing more than objects by Indian men (non African descent) is deplorable and disgusting!
I feel you. I am Indian, dark skinned and gay. So how you think I get treated and where do I fit in there..lol. Also my sister was looking for a wife for my nephew who is darker than I and she placed his status as a whitish skinned boy. I died of laughing...lol
I don't know how you get treated for being of any particular category whether it be based on your sexual identity, race or otherwise all while living in India. What I do know, is to ask you: What did I say that's funny? I am talking about a serious matter and you're making a joke? Seriously? UrbanSipfly I thought living in a more civilized country such as the US will give you more common sense. I think in your case it did not happened. I was empathizing with you on your feeling towards the racism. Read my comments a bit more clearly. I was not laughing at your comments. I was laughing at my sisters search for the daughter in law. African or or Cambodian, it does not matter. If you are dark skinned in India you are second class citizen. May be it is time that you start reading a bit more and learn before you jump into a judgement. From my reply to you it is clear that I was not laughing at the matter. There's nothing civilized about living in the USA...There's a growing problem of people who ought to be cared for psychologically speaking on a global scale, and it's unfortunate that due to under program budgeting the likelihood of that occurring is slim to none for the under priviledge. Also to add, medicine is priced so outrageously, that many manufactures ought to be thrown in jail for robbery. As far as being gay, I can't not relate to that lifestyle...so it's difficult for me to understand one's plight. All I know is this. In my experience, it never occurred to me that there are African people who live in India, and if not for the likes for RU-vid, my awareness would be even less. I don't condone gay lifestyle, but, everyone has free will to live the life of their choice. However, before one considers being gay, one has to weigh the consequences of AIDS and HIV. There's a whole lot more to consider than societal stigmas. I want to apologize to you for mistaking your laughter as a shot at the indignities the African sisters are facing on daily basis or at me. I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by your sister's search for the daughter in law. Are you saying that your sister is searching for a woman to marry her son to eventually become her daughter-in-law? Why can't he find a woman of his liking on his own. Is he not of age?
UrbanSipfly I agree but I think one of the worst countries in terms of discrimination against Blacks is Brazil. It is sad that in a country like Brazil, where there is such a huge Black population, Black women are treated with utter disdain.
in addition you may want to look into the use and orgin of the term "black people" because it has not always been used... The Black Power movement in the 60s really popularized the term Black in the US.
Pig-Dog, You obviously don't have much of a brain. It's an insult to call someone retarded, but it takes one to know one. Black in the U.K. can mean African and East Asian. Black in the U.S. may in fact be white in Brazil. In France, there are no racial classifications and places like Lebanon you are classified by religion not race.
my assumption, which I never bothers to research is based on the idea that black was established for the disenfranchised Africans during European slave trading. Outside the United States, in modern history, those of dark skin skin an identity. Whether it is just "African" because they actually come from that continent, or some national term like Kenyan or Haitian, or Chad-i? In American those of brown skin are either "black" or less than full citizen "African-American" whether your family has been in the country for centuries or you just came from Africa- no difference. SO I always assumed such a term was an American construct being as everyone elsewhere has a real Identity to claim
Well in India , short people are called short , fat people are called fat , dark skinned people are called black , it all goes well in squabbles and jokes , but discriminatory comments are a disgrace and should be prohibited
1st of all you can't judge an entire country based of the idiocy of few judgemental fools. I am an Indian, and trust me I admire the Africans. The way they carry themselves, their athletic body and beautiful hair of both men and women. I am stunned by how naturally athletic looking they are. Such good skin and their way of speaking is so intriguing. Some people here in the comment section are trying to instigate caste, regional and religion related fights.
Dude! am no one's honey so talk in a formal way. Indian men as well appreciate them, I have friends of my own who very well admire Africans. There is 50% good and 50% bad every where. Judging a whole country shows that how small minded a person is, that to about gender. really?

"Fair Skin" has become a mind set since the British set foot in India, we started associating fair skin with superiority. Get a life you both, in the end the physical appearance is going to fade, try giving importance to how the personality is of a person is.
India is full of diversity.. Some ppl r black some r brown some r fair and some r very fair like Americans, every kind of ppl live here. In the same way some ppl r racist but some ppl r not.. All my classmates, friends, neighbours, relatives etc love me though I'm a brown skin gay guy..

Being a fairly white guy black hair, I live in Germany and I can challange you that racism in India is way less than in Europe.. Infact now when i see home back from Europe it looks the only tolerant country.
@Zceve40 I am very proud of myself not to have a whire skin but a white heart.and i am proud of growing up in India which made me respect the colour of the heart and not skin.
