@@hounddog2952 Yup, gotta keep those POCs as stupid as possible and distract them with "the man keepin' 'em down" so they don't get uppity and think they can work and live with the rest of us. Is that what you meant? btw: Edjewcation? spelling isn't your thing is it?
@@easythrees2943 Tell me 1 - How people who have monopoly on the lawful usage of violence (aka the state) has to respond to other people? 2 - How can a corporation (which requires one's voluntary agreement to profit) ignore its clients needs?
@@easythrees2943 Yeah, lets keep it in the hands of Teacher Union run schools. Maybe we'll get a better result someday. Or, we could put it in the hands of corporations and for-profit charters who have to answer to pesky engaged parents who can take their children and money to the competition.
I'm a deafblind. Do people really think a public school would benefit me in any way? That's idiotic. School choice for someone like me is putting me in a school for the deaf and blind. School choice is important for this very scenario.
I assume you have an IEP which means you can go to whatever school you want. You're rights to school choice are protected under the law with the disability act.
@@SC-ge4mg They're supposed to be, yeah, I didn't get put into a deaf and blind school until I was 16, which was exactly after my biological father got custody over me. After which I excelled in mathematics and physics.
@@NoodlyPanda That's awesome! I'm glad you got what you needed at least for a couple years. Maybe you had to suffer through some public school for a while as a character building experience. There is a lesson in everything ;)
We also need to have a conversation about those of us who pay property taxes havingthe choice where we want our taxmdollars to go. As a parent whose child never went to public school, I should have had the choice if I want my money to go to public, private, charter or homeschooling programs. I don't want my money gojng to wokeness or overpaid administrators who don't care if the kids learn.
@@troywest7045 Well, as a tax payer including property taxes as a homeowner for over 30 years, and my child went to private school, if I would prefer my tax dollars go to a religious school, instead of public school, I (we, others like me) should have that say.
@@iamkesha. Wrong! As a tax payer you can vote on local Levy's and bills, but state and local laws don't supercede federal laws and part of our 1st amendment is separation church and State, when tax dollars go to religious schools it's a clear violation of the 1st amendment. America was Founded as a secular Nation, not a Christian Nation.
I love school choice! However, if a family chooses a select school, the Districts must not be responsible for transportation. I feel there are other ways t get kids transported that is safer and cheaper and much quicker daily! I am older now and I transported all 3 boys to Magnet/ Private schools everyday. I was a single Momw/o live-in boyfriend or anyone. I worked full time and just made sure I could take them, as in LA my all schools offered transportation.
@@D-E-S_8559 so is it because non public schools are superior? Schools are always segregated. They have been separated by the student’s skills anyways. If you were smarter you had access to classes like AP courses. When I was in high school we used the letter system. AA, A, B, C, AP. AA, A we’re basically baby sitting. These students had a ton of issues. That could be low IQ, behavior issues, severe laziness, bad or no parents, etc. I took AP and C classes. C was honors. I think public schools are only as good as the parents and students make them out to be. Not even going to start with teachers. So segregation happens not just based on what school they go to. Usually those of lower social economic status where in the lower tier classes. So regardless of if they are in different physical buildings, those kids would rarely interact as it was because they wouldn’t be learning the same way. So why shouldn’t a parent say I want my kid with other kids on the same track? Especially as some of the worse schools have the largest funding per student?
@@TheSonyExperience Not sure on your age, but tracking is no longer a thing in public schools for the reasons you pointed out. You are correct about the different tracks. I was in advanced math and English in jr high, but regular science and history. My history class in particular had many black students, but we also had a black teacher. She was not a bad teacher, but her standards were very low. We got placed into tracks by our elementary school teachers, so they are the ones who decided black students weren't advanced enough. We did have a handful of black students in our advanced classes, and of course they were from the wealthier families. But now we have classes with all different levels, which is a nightmare for teachers to reach everything from low IQ students to gifted students, as well as kids who don't speak English. This was my teaching experience and why I walked away.
Public monies are already going to private secular and nine secular schools in the way of Pell grants, the G.I. bill etc. Why isn’t Randi Weingarten screaming about this?
Teachers in those schools are not part of her union… People condemn the Teachers Union for not caring about the students, obviously not comprehending the fact the union represents the interests of teachers, not students… Also funny how the woke condemn special interest groups, but the Teachers Union is probably the largest special interest group in the nation!
Choice works for every single product and service in society. Competition makes quality go up, and cost go down. It spurs innovation. I'm a teacher, and I send my kids to private schools. There, I am a customer, instead of a captive.
The key to success is: Good education and GOOD TEACHERS. Day after day we have been witnessing how the lack of education is leading our country to the worst of its times: Bad economy, bad administrations and all leading to unemployment, bankruptcies, personal and of a big companies and banks, foreclosures, etc...etc...to name a few. Today we depend more on "somebody else"(?), than ourselves. But... Do we really have the discipline and education to depend on that "somebody else"(?). Computers are dominating for the most part of our life and in the most of the cases are indispensable. I don't want you to forget that they are not human beings. They are made by human beings and of course every human being can make a mistake and IF IT IS NOT PROPERLY EDUCATED CAN COST US A BIG PROBLEM. Do you get the picture?.
Debating about school choice will be a good thing IF it is a debate not the standard liberals lecture us why they are right and we are wrong. Or they give their position and then “The debate is over”.
