A Kansas City man who has spent more than half of his adult life in prison has turned his life around. But, he may be going to back to lock up, despite living clean since his release. STORY: www.kctv5.com/...
The truth is that the criminal justice system "is coming after the good folk & no longer after the true criminals"!! They plan to detain tens of millions like they did in the communist countries of the twentieth century, an "American gulag prison system"!!
Statute of limitations. "I've learned my lesson this time" is what they all say. If he really is the exception… this time… I hope he does get probation.
@@0101-s7v you say "this time" but really he learned his lesson after the first time. after that his "crimes" were possession of a weapon for self-defense and personal use of drugs, both things hunter biden did 🤣
Wait till they start charging people for things that were not a crime when it was done, retroactively. The Adult Survivors Act in NY state was created to get Donald Trump, and it has set a dangerous precedent.
On one hand, we cry out for habitual criminal to get longer sentences, and on the other hand leniency for people who commit crimes. Can't have it both ways.
Stop it, he has an extremely violent and criminal history, which goes against you the more you wrack up. Do you think if you live a good life in between crimes commited somehow makes you not be held accountable for your crimes lol? 😅
Yeah, just let him go. If it was such a problem, they should have done something about it right away. Since they didn't, then just move on. This is the problem I have with statute of limitations. Law enforcements/detectives wait till the last minute before doing anything. I knew a couple guys who are in prison for pedophilia, but they were picked up one month before the statute expired. I'm sorry, but I say let them go, because it wasn't such a huge problem when it was first reported, so why is it so important at the last minute? Other victims could have been piling up, and all law enforcement was doing was twiddling their thumbs. Laziness like that should not be acceptable. If you can't be on the ball when serious crimes like that are happening, then you are in the wrong line of work. And BTW, obviously the two guys I knew was rightfully arrested and locked up, and are where they belong. That isn't the point I am making, in case that messaging gets lost somehow.
Im white. I've been in prison 2x. I have been clean for years. Change the law or follow it. Just because you cha ge your life. This means you are absolved of all your crimes. NO. Especially, a gun crime. The news lied from the beginning of this report. Said, Dui, drugs and theft. But , he has a gun charge
@@JohnRangel-if2qm George Bush and WMD's. Hillary Clinton destroying emails. 50 FBI agents promoting a false dossier against Donald Trump. Bill Clinton giving Jennifer Flowers $850,000 for hush money. Anthony Fauci lying about a "pandemic". Would you like some more?
The Federal prosecutor obviously doesnt have a clue saying "It is just the business of the law " , the law isnt supposed to be a business , it is about justice and paying your debt to society and rehabilitation .
They literally give murderers bond and let them walk free but this dude just had some drugs and he’s being punished after he is already reformed. Why not make him do probation or fine him?
I think the government's pissed off because drug dealers take money out of the government's pocket. That's why they're so much harder on drug dealers than they are on murderers. The real criminals are the court and justice system.
As long as segregationist and their younglings in it. Justice is manipulated by anti black bigots in real-time. Accountability and fairness are hijacked in real-time.
He took accountability for his actions, I see no logic in locking this man up for 20 years when he could be working and contributing to society. They really should take into account his more recent behavior as a hard working family man.
@@jeremiahsams2848 what about whytes who do the crime and get lighter sentences? Ah, I forgot. Prisons are businesses too, we gotta get them businesses in some way right? What better way than putting people we don't want to see gain power in there right?
It's done all the time. Lots of studies showing it is better financially for states to actually help non violent, drug users instead of housing them in jail. In my opinion, it is better to have active decent members of society versus jailing and no real help.
This is a federal case not state. So is only the president or the judge that can do that. Well in a Republican state that won’t happen except the president intervenes. They rather allow tax payers to keep him in prison so that prison business empire to keep growing. The good thing God will always teach these people a lesson one day for destroying peoples lives through the justice system. America is the only developed country in the world that run their justice system like a third world country
Y'all are super naive. Falling for these criminals that claim they turned their life around. It is comedy gold. Did we not just see the guy on Rogan who got out, got a government job, and was working for the innocence project, but then murdered somebody? This guy was on parole, broke the law, and he knew what could happen. No remorse for him. Maybe he should not have broke the law while on parole, and this would not have happened. Rules are easy to follow. The bad part in this is he chose to break the law, and now he wants you to feel sorry for him. It is nobdy's fault but his.
I hope the system gives him a break. I know what it's like, having been in the system myself for some years. I'm also a recovering addict, 42 years clean. My life changed drastically when I surrendered to the recovery process. We can change!
Here is a man that not only turned his life around, he is taking accountability by turning his life around, where is the justice if he is sentenced to go back to prison? Prayerfully hoping that the sentence will be probation
@@hittrennathompson8286 No judge is just going to let the issue drop. Since he has turned his life around, a probation is the lowest he will receive. The problem is that it was a sales of narcotics case and it is a federal case. I love redemption stories.
This is so twisted. The prosecutor could have, easily, agreed to release him until his next hearing. And the prosecutor could just as easily, also agree to only giving him probation. Hope this brother truly gets real justice.
This is so hard to watch, I sure hope the right people will get involved and help this man of honor, who helps people now and becomes a mentor to them, this rarely happens and he can do so much good for people in the system,
Just curious, how can he get a job as a truck driver with DUIs? I believe in redemption and second chances. I'm genuinely not judging. Man, three years to charge someone is cruel.
I think all his record should be considered showing especially how he has turned his life around and trying to help others.....hes actually trying to do good with his life.😢

_Prosecutorial discretion_ means they have leeway to decide whether or not to follow through on charges, right? Given the circumstances, seems like prosecutors ought to use common sense here.
Relying on a public defender is their biggest mistake. Five to ten grand on the right lawyer and this will all disappear. Trust me I know from personal experience. That may sound like a lot of money but what is 20 years of your life worth?
@@kelvinmorris1991 when Your life depends on it you find a way to pull it together. He seems to have family that are sticking up for him maybe they could lend him some cash. The only hope in this story is that the public defender seemed competent and invested in this case. That’s a good sign.
If this guy is so dangerous that he needs to be removed from society for 20 years, why the hell did the prosecutors wait 4 years to pursue charges against him???
Good for the ex-Father-in-Law; Redemption exists as does mercy... do the right thing ... how about a letter campaign to the governor or judge? ... Please don't waste tax payer money, please, please don't waste this Man who has done the work...
They dont want this man or anyone else for that matter to actually rehabilitate because then they cant make money off them! This is the reason recidivism rates are so high!!
Why they let murders walk around and this man they take away that day. This is why we have so much crime today. The ones who are non violent and changing their life around get easily lock up while the ones who have numerous assault charges keep getting probation.
So they put his case on the bottom of the pile because it wasn’t a priority?? Suddenly it’s a priority?? If he was that much of a threat then he should’ve stayed in jail.. welp, the prosecutor got one thing right. It’s a business for them!! For him it’s his life!! Let this man be a father to his children and live his life!!! Seems he’s more productive OUT of jail than in jail..
He's living what the reasoning is for incarceration. You want to see people change for the better for lesser crimes, and he's done that. 20 yrs is ridiculous on top of him previously spending half of his life in prison. I hope and pray he remains free!
I'm not sure why there can't be a law that says if someone is rehabilitated then they won't put them back in prison? Because that is a good idea and that's not how justice system works.
So where are the protestors for this man???? Wheres the screaming mob for his life??? He actually deserves to have his community fight for him in my opinion.
We have a legal system, not a system of justice. Let us hope that a judge will come through for him. Failing that, perhaps the next President will issue a pardon.
To plead to possession with intent to sell, how much was he really in possession of? Gun involved, too. A long record of crimes and prison time. Im glad that he seems to have turned his life around. Now the best thing to do to continue that turn around is to accept what he did and the punishment that comes along with it. Would we all be pleading for this guy if it was something other than a drug charge?
You can't be a career criminal change for 3 then expect sympathy from the law. Regardless of people's opinions and feelings, You still have to face your consequences i think Mike understands that.
The state shouldn’t have longer than a 12mo statute of limitations on charging people or holding debts over the heads of citizens. I’m good for there to be longer statutes for the state to be made aware of a crime if there is a citizen victim that doesn’t immediately report it immediately, especially in cases of battery or violence…. But that’s it. Either charge them as soon as you become aware of the crime or let them be.
Yeah they must be back logged. My son was a crime victim last year, Judge keeps pushing case back. Though the boy that hurt my son has probably improved his life, I hope he is still convicted, even if its 4 years from now. This case bothers me because he is not violent like the criminal that hurt my son.
Governor should pardon immediately. The AG should file prosecutorial misconduct citation against the overzealous attorney. God will use this man wherever he is placed. Those who put him behind bars will one day face judgement, may God have mercy on them.
Its not the content of this man's character but the color of his skin!!! Very sad 😢.....His contribution to society and him turning his life around has been impeccable......how dare they 🥺😔🤨😡😤😠...... unbelievable!!!
What about the statue of the limitation law? Any evidence to prove or defend his case is gone due to them. They needed him to admit being guilty to legally put him back in. He got bad advice.
Sounds fishy 😒man is no threat to anyone.. change his life& changing others around him...yeah..this sounds personally..someone in the justice department has it in for him😒😡
If they bring charges within the statute of limitations, then they are not doing anything wrong. He definitely will not get 20 years. If his lawyer was any good he would have worked out a plea deal with the prosecutor before his client plead guilty to the crimes he knows he committed.
I looked all the way down to Find Your post. And The Main Point, no one has pointed out his skin color. The Justice System isn't set up for The Black and Brown.
Lord Jesus that in heaven hear my humble prayer let my brother charges be all dropped and dismissed.......handle it my Savior let not Satan have his way, but your Holy way......For i know that you're able of all things and there's nothing that you can't do have mercy my Lord upon him.....And open all eyes, all hearts for you are a Awesome loving Lord....in your Holy name Jesus Christ our Savior......Aaaamen, Aaaamen, Aaaamen, Aaaamen.
