Researchers who want to see their research make a difference appreciate that publication alone is rarely sufficient to improve health outcomes. They see the value in building relationships with research users (e.g. consumer representatives, practitioners and policy makers) from the outset. They understand that fostering this process of knowledge exchange has the benefit of allowing real world knowledge to inform research directions as well as facilitate dissemination and implementation.
