What is MetaZoo? MetaZoo Cryptid Nation Opening & First Impressions. 

Thank you for giving MetaZoo a fair shake. I come from a MTG and Pokemon background but right now I'm loving the Zoo. It's refreshing seeing a neutral look on the game. I subbed up. It seems many people want to hate on any new TCG that comes out. Not every TCG is for everyone but that doesn't mean you have to talk shit on it either. I don't fancy Yu Gi Oh but I've never spoken ill words on it either. MetaZoo is takes a lot from MTG and Pokemon, combined aspects and puts their own twist on it. The creator has a love for MTG and Pokemon and you can see that in this game. Currently with the Cryptid Nation block they are focused on North American folk lore and cryptids. The next block will be Asia and I believe the 3rd block will be Europe. You have that to look forward to in a few years. I can't wait to learn about cryptids from other parts of the world. In Cryptid Nation 2/3rds of packs have reverse halos and 1/3rd of packs have full halo. All rares (gold) can come in full halo, reverse halo or non-halo except for a subset of cards within the main set. They can only come in full halo or non-halo. For Cryptid Nation this subset is called the Obnoxious 9. Some but not all of uncommons (silver) and commons (bronze) have a chance at coming in reverse halo but can not come in full halo. The one and only expansion at this time is Nightfall. The subset in nightfall is called the unlucky 13. Again that means they only come in full halo or non-halo otherwise the same rules apply. In Nightfall they chose to add a static non-halo rare in each pack in addition to a full halo or reverse halo. This will help players get their hands on cards they need for their decks. Nightfall also has the chance of God packs. This is like the Japanese version of premium Pokemon packs where every card will be a halo. Very cool. I wish English Pokemon had this feature. The next set comes out on March 31st. The next expansion is Wilderness. This will be set up like Nightfall and I think all expansions will be like that in the future. Wilderness' subset is called the wild nine. Wilderness has really cool art. The best yet in my opinion. Lots of dragons in that set too. Cheers!

Brilliant Kris, since they signed a major deal with Walmart, the popularity of this TCG I think will become a hit, I've got some 1st Edition sealed bits (including a Topps box) that I'll be keeping sealed for a long, long time. (Keep yours sealed). Currently learning the game, looks like an interesting TCG.

lol.. Fizggig going to be famous now.. but yeah... MetaZoo is something ive been waiting for... for well over a decade now.. My literal favorite Monster, The Great Piasa Bird finally being in a TCG.. 🤌 the real world Lore/Myths/Legends/Cryptids utilized into MetaZoo is incredible.. and how its all being done.. not to sit stale but to grow like fire.. and the classic holo approach vs the constant full art cards in other TCGs.. i cant say enough good things about this one.. didnt take long to shatter my 20+ years of PoKeMoN and YuGiOh obsession..

Welcome to Metazoo! For learning to play highly recommend Metabroz. They break gameplay down and make it easy to pick up. Wilderness is the next set coming out and so looking forward to Paul Bunion to join up with Babe the Blue Ox

I still don't know what to make of MetaZoo. I remember a lot of breakers really trying to push it as if it was the next big thing but now no one really talks about it. The artwork was nothing that captivated me enough to buy in to it.
