No. 23 is also my favorite Mozart piano concerto. That first movement just sings with this youthful exaltation; from the first notes, it makes me picture a foal running through a field as children play in the background. And that second movement...as you say, Mozart didn't write a ton of music in minor keys but the minor music he did write is unforgettable, and this movement deserves to be included in that collective memory of his minor music.
Very close to my opinion, although I think 20. is the best. First movement of this concerto is the best movement ever by my opinion. But, everybody has certain feelling different than others. Good choises!
The top two are my favourite also. Otherworldly in expression and feeling. That these exist, the enigma of their creator as a man (capable of such things!) is as close as anything worldly gets to reminding we are more than mere beasts.
I recently started listening to no 17 in g major. And i love the first sm. The first, second and solo theme are great and so memorable. Sadly the two other movements are as great
My favorite beethoven symphony is no 7, my favorite mozart symphony is no 40, and my favorite mozart concerto is no 23. Keep proving my right with these videos! 😂
Yes the top three really well deservedly picked. Some pianist actually described the 23 the queen and No. 25 the king of Mozart’s piano concertos. I think I will always struggle with the choice of No. 21 and No.24, both are just equally great with the top 3. And with the endearing No.12, 14, 15 and No.17. How can one not weep a bit with all the joy and beauty and liveliness touching our hearts and souls crosses more than two and half centuries.
His greatest piano concerto is the C Minor… not only is it the greatest piano concerto which Mozart composed, it is also the greatest piano concerto of the 18 century..
That's an odd one: the D major was really popular during Mozart's lifetime, but it's fallen in people's estimation since, mine included. I actually marked it 6.5/5.5/7 total 6.33 so it never made the top 10
It is really a pity that such a high quality channel almost never honors the performing musicians... When you are able to overlay a goat head, it should be possible to overlay the name of the pianist, orcherstra and conductor!!!
Apologies, I usually try to leave links for performances in the description, but I have been so busy recently I haven't on this video. I could certainly title clips, I just hate putting too much text on the screens. If other people have strong opinions on this, do let me know...
I'd hardly ever give any Mozart second movements more than 5-6, including most on this list. Mozart's slower movements never work for me, but 21 and 24 are among the exceptions for sure.
