How has your recovery been? I had one about 2 weeks ago and then another a few days later in the same area of my head. I was curious to know how long it took you to feel “normal” again. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏿

For any stroke survivors, we are in this together. Mine was a Cachemic Stroke in 2017 and thanks to my Dance background my body has recovered. From slow yoga training to fully retrain in various styles of dance I am teaching and performing stronger than ever. Neural Sensitivity is the hardest to heal.
im so glad i found your channel, for reference i had a major hemorrhagic stroke in jan last year, had brain surgery to fix the bleed and remove the clot therefore i was in the hospital for 2 weeks, where therapy didnt happen. i got sent to inpatient where therapy was ok. it gave me the building blocks to recovering but my tone and spasticity was so bad that not much progress was made. ive learned more from you then i did from my inpatient stay and 2 different home health companies. i cant wait to get even better than i am now. im only 33 and have major goals
How big was your stroke ? My dad just had a 7.2 cm bleed on the left basal ganglia so far he is doing better he is able to eat and stand up with some help but the worst is the apraxia and aphasia he seems to understand well but he won’t speak to us . Hope you are doing better now .

Thank you Dr. Tobias! This is so helpful! I am 2.5 years out from my initial stroke. This supports and improves all of my previous therapy. I'm able to build on that and add to it. Hi my name is Mel i’m from Melbourne in Australia 🇦🇺 i had an ischemic stroke 8 years ago and i’m still doing physio and occupational therapy every week, i also do an inpatient hospital 🏥 rehab refresher every 6-12 months to make sure i’m not missing something but i find my at home therapy has been fantastic, my therapist’s are fantastic and keep up dates with all their training for patients.
I want to first thank you for your wealth of information did you put out there for us! My son has a traumatic brain injury and the therapy that I learn from you is going to help him tremendously. I have post central nerve pain. What can I do for this?I had a major hemorrhagic stroke April 24th of 2020and I still am not able to stand up and walk by myself. It affected my left leg and foot and my left shoulder, arm and hand. I have severe pain.

My left side is affected due to a car accident and medical stroke. I focus i try to open doors drawers and wiping the table top every night after dinner and i try to use it in the shower combined with mirror box and other exercises and since I have found your channel i am really working every day except sunday. Repetition and hard work. I tried constraint therapy and it was incredibly difficult and frustrating. So for my hand I try opening doors and holding objects in it. With hand and arm therapy weekly I combine it with mirror box, e stim and mental imagery. 4 years post stroke and my finger's are starting to open. Never give up people. !
My loved one got the stroke last year due to a malformation by the left cerebellum. That was corrected this December; thanks God there is no more risk. She is unbalance, footdrop, right weak side, and tremors on the left side. My biggest concern is how to motivate her when I am the only Caregiver...
your tips and techniqes are really helpful. i suffered a stroke a year and two months now , at age 57 and i am frustrated sometimes because i have such difficulties walking with spacricity and hyperextensive knee, i did some therapy in the first ten weeks but im not able to afford therapy now. i try to repeat what i have learnt at best but not consistent enough. sometimes i feel much pain in knee and shoulder and fingers and get frustrated because of snapping knees and pointed toes. coordination is off in movements of my affected leg. This gets so hard.
Thank you for this as of this time im practicing walking without cane for 3days now. I usually go out using cane because i feel safe using it. But now i tried to go to mall without it and it feels good. I thought can't do it. But i did.
Keep it up. Once you gained that confidence try to avoid the cane, I stopped using cane completely now. Stay positive. Leave the gears at your doorstepbefore you leave out. Just ensure to strengthen your legs by leg press so you can stand for longer time. May god be with you throughout your recovery.

Thank you for taking time to share your knowledge. I really appreciate it. I had a stroke 7 months ago lost left side mobility. Doctors said I didn’t have any clots. It was caused by my pressure getting to high due to cholesterol being really high. Could you share some insight plz?
problem is getting to the point of being able to use it ( which it seems to me is an internal thing, e.g., I can now move my weak leg : but now need to be careful not to use the strong side to help the weak leg along : using quad cane and strong arm to walk : does that still count as using the weak leg : assume it’s better than sitting in my wheelchair (doing an activity ) just need to focus on getting arm to move ps- am definitely subscribed and notified - delighted when there’s another video but have started going back and watching any I have missed: so very grateful you are doing this:THANKS!!!
Hi Lynne! This is an excellent question. Best case scenerio is to work on standing without the cane (as this will continue to "wire" the "non-use" of the involved side). 11 months completed for me ..i recovered 80 percentage i hope that i will be recover soon speech not in proper way it will be soon recover patiency and psysio therapy is important . it second life for me greatful to God and family

This is an Excellent idea! This is a very common problem. I will add this to the list. I have a 2 part series on the shoulder coming out this month so you might be able to get some ideas from that, But I will add one specifically for frozen shoulder :)
dr tara im 55.. had hemorrhagic stroke at 52..... can walk with quad cane.. my lleft side paralized.. arm is not good at all. want to walk without cane and want to drive my car again but these things seem out of reach
Plenty of water 💧 and vegetables and some fruits, it's hard to fill hungry et better when someone else was thir had no appetite 😕 but you have to eat, and drink, but help from someone else is good good 👍luck 😊

@@jearem8764I'm doing lots of research, for the past month. Husband had 3 ischemic strokes, high blood pressure, prediabetic, stage 4 kidney disease. He is not overweight. I'm starting keto and carnivore diet for healing. See Dr. Berry, Dr. Chaffee and Dr. Baker. No sugar, no carbs, no seed oils.
I had a stroke last year. I lost all movement in my right arm and leg. In the hospital, I was told to keep my right arm elevated and I did. There had been a separation in the shoulder and it hurt. That's cleared up now, but could there have been a similar condition for my hip? My right leg turns out and I can't prevent that while sleeping. I have trouble with balance and this makes it worse. Is there an exercise I can do to fix my hip?
I am 2 yrs post stroke and still having mobility issues unfortunately I was not provided any therapy have been using your videos which have really helped. but still having issues especially with going up and down stairs. do you have any suggestions? Danny Stricklin

Thank so much for such very valid education. My mother is 82 yrs old now known hypertensive under medication for a long time. But one week ago she had stroke and her right arm and right leg are paralysed. Her face and mouth has shifted to right. She cannot articulate words clearly, not fully oriented with time and place but can identify people, hear words, and turn oround on bed. She is continuing anti hypertension therapy; Losatan tabs, Amilodipine tabs and Clopidogrel tabs. You mentioned age as one of the factor for recovery, now can you pse advice on what best can be done to her to recover?
I watched a couple of your videos. One of my sons who works in a nursing home recommended them. We live in Alaska, but are going to Massachusetts because my 87 year old mother had a stroke. You mentioned in this video age. However you did not say much about any statistics or what percentage you think of people her age could improve and by what amount. Do you have any ideas or guesses at all? Prior to the stroke she was going to exercise class once a week with her senior friends and also playing cards every week and going for walks several times a week. She did not use a walker or anything. She had a stroke on the right side of her brain and this paralyzed on the left. Thank you for any help you can give us. We do not know what to do. We have eight children in Alaska with my husband and now I am down here with two of them and we don't know if we should try to get her up in Alaska or what we should do. Thank you.
We were living in Alaska (Kenai) when my mother had a major hemmoragic stroke. For months she just wasted away in a hospital bed because she had to have a trancheostomy and no Alaskan rehabs (save for one that kept denying her because she was too big a risk) would accept or work with her. Unfortunately have had to move to the lower 48 because it provided much more access to recovery options. I wish your mother the best, however I do NOT recommend taking her to AK unless you want to limit your recovery options significantly. Thankfully the resources down here have given my mother another fighting chance.

So many of these videos our focused on recovering physically which is great. People need this. However, I still haven't come across the video about recovering neurologically in the brain. Meaning still "feeling strange, weird, not all right"; and it's not just mentally. It is that also but my "standard" mental feelings - or how I cope with situations is different than it was pre-stroke. I'm starting to think I need a neuropsychiatrist. Thankfully, most of my motor skills are 99% of what they were. But my thought process and feelings (including physical feelings in my head) are STILL not the 7 years later :-(
I had a stroke in may and my right leg is weak,wobbly and unstable. Am I suppose to be trying to build up muscle in my leg? Or just practice learning to walk normal again?
Recently in 2022 and 2023 there have been peer-reviewed research articles on low frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for enhancing neuroplasticity after stroke. One study says it works by stimulating the release of Glial Derived Neurotrophic Factor (GDNF). Could you please tell how successful this treatment might be once it becomes mainstream in clinics?

She is going through physiotherapy and electric nerve stimulator but the problem is she used to have arthritis and she used to walk sides because of the pain. I was wondering if it'd be possible to regain some mobility when there is spasticity involved after a stroke in the cerebellum area, because it's been hard for me to regain the fine motor skills on my affected side, repetition, repetition, repetition and I end up with my hand really stiff that I can't do more for some time.

HELLO! I have a particular concern regarding the Use it or Lose it Principle. I have Left sides weakness resulting from a right sided massive stroke. I dream of full functionality in my Left arm. HOWEVER,. I have little ti no movement in my left hand, while my arm is stiff and robotic. What can I possibly do to strengthen the circuitry around hand movement, if my hand pretty much only closes? HELP!?
Is "Bioness Stim Router" a good option or addition to therapy? My wife is struggling with R shoulder drop post stroke in July of this year. Any info is appreciated.
Is it better to walk independtly, although not always “correctly” or always use a cane and take each step with correct form? Does ones mind start to depend on cane use?
@@rehabhqofficial I aways struggle about this, With a cane, I may walk a bit longer with awkward form, without a cane, I can only walk a few steps with a little better form.
I had a RCVS CVA a few months ago. They donot know the cause… I had a bilateral hip replacement and NET’s removed the year prior (took 10 + years to find them). My vision and short term memory are my predominant handicaps, although my hips are still an issue. Do you have any suggestions for vision? I have been an RN for 25 yrs, and am trying to apply the same principles you’re discussing to my vision. Thankfully, I have a supportive network and have the opportunity to keep moving forward.
