Yup that's what I figured within my first hours of use. Focusing it to the stars is the best overall setting for patrolling and gunfighting. I never tried to explain to myself why is it the most effective though. It just works :D
Great info as always for us on our civi nvg journey! I have a little photography knowledge so these comparisons are helpful. You got the F stop, iris, focal stuff correct as far as I understand it on cameras.
I looked up the CIE coordinates for P45 phosphor, converted it, and depending on the luma, the color is described as Moonstone. There. You have Moonstone phosphor night vision. P45 Moonstone.
I already undersood "how to" but your explanation of the "Why" is super interesting! Also for Autofocus, what I think about is how the lens has no way of reading your mind to know what you are trying to look at. When navigating rough terrain, I can imagine it will always be looking at the wrong tree branch LOL Thanks again!
This adjustable aperture might just be useful for only GaAs, and only in bright environments, because that situation results in a serious reduction in resolution, down to 30 lp/mm. Nice vocal fry btw. Very relaxed.
The only person I’ve heard talk about that is David Paulides (author of the Missing 411 books). I’ll say this… if there were anything in the sky, you’d certainly have a better chance of seeing it while wearing night vision!
You will see satellites like Starlink. You will able to see a little into infra-red. So essentially you'll be seeing a lot of flying dots. What makes a UFO? A dot in the sky that moves strangely? Not much of a UFO report.
